I am a regular and frequent client at this clinic. In this case, I came in with a dog adopted from ACS. She had a large tumor and was, in fact, dying. Dr. Cheryl correctly diagnosed that the tumor was a failed pregnancy within about 4 min. of examining my new dog. The dog, now named Victoria needed immediate surgery. Dr Luke, who was there doing administrative tasks and not seeing patients, gave up his time off to perform the surgery and with his team saved her life. I like the vets and staff not just as a client but personally. I have been going here for over 10 years and have nothing but complements for them. read more

adopted a dog that was seen at this clinic. paid for a heart worm test that was negative. when I tried to order the heart worm medication they would not allow it to be processed unless i came into their clinic and paid them an extra $55. I live in North Austin which is about 2 hours away. I do not recommend this clinic very poor service. they do not even give you the courtesy of a phone call even when I asked. they also lied to Chewy.com and said that the dog was not a patient of theirs. read more

I took my dog to Dr. Proctor. He diagnosed heartworms and created a treatment plan. Cost was $430. However he billed me twice $860. Then when I asked him to reverse the second erroneous billing, Dr. Proctor "pretended" that he did not know a thing about it. I have NO CONFIDENCE in Dr. Proctor or his clinic. I believe that my dog never even had Heartworms, it was a bogus billing. I have been taking my three dogs here for about three years with no complaint except for today. I had bought my medication for my dogs and spent $500+. I bought the medication on 2/27/2024 and opened on of the boxes today and it was empty. I didn't check them as I had never had a problem. I called and was told that there was nothing they could do. So I would recommend that you check your boxes of medication before you leave the office. I am going to look for a new vet. I did like going here but not after this. read more

Beware: do not visit here- Dr Shirley is the WORST ever!!! I took my 70lb Pit Bull in for rear legs injury/trouble walking. The vet tech lift my dog up from the rear to be up on scale n my dog yelped n wimpered in extreme pain. Dr Shirley then called my dog "AGGRESSIVE" n untrustworthy. Are u serious..yup she went there. The typical person that labels large breeds aggressive because if their size, looks, or breed. After only literally 2 minutes of knowing my dog even with rear legs injury she put that label on us. We have been bringing our animals to Rigsby Vetrinary Clinic when Dr. Burchers was there. Dr Proctor and Dr Sheryl have been equally amazing. I can't name how many times they have gone above and beyond to treat, care for and a few times save one or more of our dogs. Over the years, From eye surgery for our bulldog to remove and abscessed eye which was an extremely tricky procedure due to intubation of a bulldog ( my daughter said she only wanted Dr Luke to do this, surgery to remove socks from our Shitzus intestine, to staying late at night to spend time after hours to monitor my sons Doberman who had become ill from ingesting something we could not identify. Not to mention Dr Sheryl diagnosed our mini schnauzer with megaesophagus an inability to digest large pieces of food/ dry ect because a small growth makes the entry to the stomach very small. She suggested we use chopped/ground wet dog food add water mash up into a soup and our Bella has thrived every since. They have been available to us for boarding, quick questions and have always been kind, professional and workable. There have been times over the years when a visit could possibly be a little more costly than expected. Dr Proctor would just give us a base price stating if it goes over there will be no extra charge only what I quoted you. We have been blessed by the folks at Rigsby Vet Clinic and especially by the kindness & care Dr. Luke & Dr Sheryl provide for our families fur babies. I would never go anywhere else. read more

I LOVE this clinic. The tech and doctor take time and listen to your concerns and help to find solutions. My babies love going in and the tech picks them up and they just lick her to pieces. They love going in there which makes me feel a sense of relief. I can't say enough good things. They have been helping my old dog in heart failure and Dr Proctor has been patient and kind through the whole process. I can't say thank you to them enough times. I was beyond upset yesterday when I took my 4 month old, 8.9 pound puppy vet. My poor baby comes back to me AFTER 15 MINUTES with one of his baby teeth missing and two of his nails bleeding cause they cut them so short they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me about his nails and all they told me about his mouth was "oh he's bleeding a little bit from his mouth because he bit the towel so hard" UM HIS TOOTH FELL OUT! And on top of that they unknowingly to me charged me 17.50 for a nail trim that's regularly 7 (he's gotten them cut before) because "he was being difficult" NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!!! When I told "Chris" I was going to write reviews about this place he told me to go head that people were still going to love them. read more

Came here a few months ago and it was an awful experience. I had an appointment early in the morning and still had to wait over an hour after my appointment time to be seen even though there was only 1 other customer there. I had the displeasure of being helped by the vet tech Chris. The guy was incredibly rude and demeaning, and talked to me like I was an awful pet owner just because my dog was nervous to be at the vet. She's a sweetheart but gets nervous when being examined, especially when the person examining her is so damn rough. Literally the only reason I didn't walk out during the exam was because my dog was in pain and I didn't want to make her suffer through it while waiting for an appointment somewhere else. The actual vet was good. But Chris single-handedly made me never want to come back here. read more

I adopted a 10 month old dog in early January and took him for his first vet visit on March 3. The visit went fine but I made a near-fatal mistake when leaving. This dog is afraid of almost everything and not well trained to walk on leash. After two months he will let me put a harness on him but he's still afraid of the car. I misjudged his fear and didn't pick him up. He backed out of his harness and was running free on Rigsby Avenue. I will always be grateful to the Rigsby Vet staff! About half a dozen of them took on the challenge and ran him down, stopping traffic twice trying to keep him safe. I hadn't pushed training on him because of his fear but we worked on "come" when we got home. Thanks again to the Rigsby Vet office for their support both in and out of the office! read more

The wait time was pretty long but that's to be expected for a walk in. My dogs hind legs had maybe 15% of their normal strength and she couldn't stand so I brought her in to see the doctor. Once I was finally seen, the doc examed my dog, found a scab from when a dog bit her at the dog park and said [in a very condescending tone] that it must be a gunshot wound. She then asked me to step out of the room and I overheard her telling the vet tech that I probably shot the dog and if it was true that they'd have to call someone. I didn't bring it up while there because I was more worried about my dogs legs and not getting them so riled up that they'd hike the prices on me but I'll never go back there again. My dog is indoors at all times except to use the restroom and is basically our little princess. I was also dressed up so where she got the assumption that I was some ghetto animal abuser, idk. The doctor is a female dog and I'll never refer anyone there. read more

I have been bringing my GSD here since she was 8 weeks old, so for 5 years I have trusted them and they have never failed to be courteous and gentle with my girl. They even recognize her when we go for checkups! My pup loves to see them too! Dr. Luke Proctor and Dr. Sheryl Proctor have been cost effectively treating my pets for years and they have always provided the very best care as well as education! Recently my 17 year old cat became ill and It appeared he was almost too far gone. Thankfully Dr. Luke Proctor was able to save his life, with quick treatment and proper education. Terrible place!!! Will never be back. Our appointment was at 2pm. At 330 we left without having anything done. From the beginning the receptionist complained she was alone and had no help. Floor was dirty with different areas of dried urine. Tech had dirty fingernails and bad breath!! He used thermometer with no probe covers then washed it in sink inbetween dogs using his fingers to "scrub" it. They wanted to take my dogs in back to draw blood and then wanted to draw blood from their neck! Everywhere I have been its forefoot. The final straw was when doctor would not let me comfort my dog as he was going to exam him. He wanted smelly dirty fingernail guy to hold him. No sir!!! I left with all 3 dogs. That is not the quality of care I want for my babies. Im only giving one star because its Christmas time and Im feeling grateful but truly they deserve no stars!!!! read more

I have never had a vet that goes to such great lengths to ensure my furbabies are healthy and happy. I have experienced having to put down two of my oldies and the staff was so helpful and genuine. I have also had a couple emergencies, one today, that requires immediate attention but the office was closing up. Dr. Proctor took care of her immediately and got her into surgery. I have been going to Rigsby Vet for 6 years since I have lived in the San Antonio area. Without a doubt, Dr Sheryl Proctor and Dr Luke Proctor are excellent and very caring. The prices are not bad, the care is great and the concern for the well being of my animal is fantastic. I now live 45 min to 1 hr from them, but I still go there. In addition to Luke Proctor, there are two female vets there, Dr Sheryl Proctor is our main vet, excellent, caring and compassionate, one who can see my kids/animals anytime. Dr Luke has taken care of them on emergencies when Dr Sheryl has not been there, and without a doubt, he isalso excellent in his skill and knowledge. He definitely goes above and beyond just as Dr Sheryl does. read more

We recently started to take our two Pitbulls back to Rigsby Vet after s very long sabbatical. Our first visit back was unfortunately to put our precious Joe of 10 years to sleep, as she was suffering we liver failure. As heart wrenching as it was, the staff at Rigsby Vet was gracious, thoughtful and patient as can be. They made sure we understood the process, and gave us ample time with her to say our goodbyes. She even pee'd on the poor male vet asst. as he helped us take her home for her burial. He didn't bat an eyelash and said "don't even worry about it, I hope you guys have a better day". We took our 2nd Pit in for a checkup, Flea Gaurd dose and vaccines. All at very affordable prices to any other places in town I've heard. They were just as kind as before, and very playful with him. You definitely get that "small town" hospitality at Rigsby Vet. We'll be customers for life. read more

This should be raided as a -5 unfortunately this does not allow you to do it. I have had it with this place no matter how convenient it is, it's not worth your time and your pet's time. The employees are so rude and not very knowledgeable. I personally have waited for over 10 minutes on the phone just to answer a question. Should you get an opportunity to see them they don't even acknowledge you when you walk in to the clinic you can stand there and they never look up and give me eye contact !!.. Not sure what has happened to this clinic, but I will no longer spend my MONEY or my pet's precious's time here again. I took my German Shepard puppy there to be seen and they denied me medical attention they said he was showing signs of parvo and "recommended" we went else where !!!! I was devastated !! Never again will I go there or recommend it to anyone ! ... I am happy to report my puppy Chevy is doing great I did research online and found an all natural med for him which I purchased at a feed store called paxxin followed instructions and my puppy is as good as new !! Rigsby Veterinary Clinic is the only vet clinic that I will ever take my pets to. The staff is always very helpful with any questions I may have and provides all around great customer service. I'm lucky to have Dr. Sheryl Proctor as my vet. She goes out of her way to make sure that my dog and cat are healthy. She is also very informative and takes the time to make sure that I fully understand what is going on. I know that my beloved pets are getting the best possible care when I take them here. My family and I have been coming to Rigsby Veterinary clinic when Dr. Burchers was the veterinary. Dr. Luke Proctor and Dr. Sheryl Proctor are the only 2 doctors that see my 2- senior dogs. They are both excellent Doctors but if the staff doesn't improve I am sorry to say I have no problems asking for copies of my dogs records and going elsewhere. The suggestion I do have is a better office manager, pleasant receptionists and more educated technicians.... At one point they had a very pleasant clinic manager by the name of Sarah L... She always acknowledged me by my last name, ( the 2 front desk employees never can remember my name nor my pets even if I had just been there the day before . Better yet I don't even get acknowledged when walking in to the clinic.. ) was very people friendly and compassionate employee. Whenever checking in for an appt with Sarah or one of her receptionist I NEVER had to repeat what my visit at the office was for that day... These 2 girls that they have now are just flat out ignorant. They keep each other humored with none related work conversions instead of checking up with the clients in the waiting room...God forgive you call up to the client because you will be left and sometimes even forgot on hold. I can't even count the many times this has happen to me. Now on the other hand there is 2 (and I mean only 2 ) technicians ( Kristy and Emily ) that are very thorough and i always make sure it only one of them that see my 2 dogs. Over all I can only say good things about the Doctors and the 2 technicians... I do hope that Dr. Proctor does read this and replaces some of his staff like he has been doing to his clinic. read more

I previously have gone here for 15 years with my cocker spaniel and I really enjoyed how the techs and doctors treated my previous dog so I decided to go back to get my new puppy (6 month old dachshund) fixed. When I was talking on the phone with the ladies they were very rude to me and kept hanging up on me. Since I have never taken my puppy there I understood that they would have to get all the records and proof of all her shots but from the moment I told them she has not been seen there they were very rude to me. The day of the surgery I took my puppy to the back so they can weigh her and do what ever else they needed to do. I explained to the tech that she is very skittish around strangers and she doesn't do well with people she doesn't know just grabbing her so I explained to the tech that you will have to warm up to her before she will get comfortable with you. Well when they took her back the tech threw a towel over her head and grabbed her really fast and took her to the back. I am sure the tech wouldn't appreciate someone doing that to her. When I went to go pick her up the "manager" (Merna) told me that my dog is a very vicious dog and wouldn't be aloud back if I don't change the way she acts and I said she has never been a vicious dog she was just scared and the lady told me that I wouldn't be aloud back. And the whole time I'm thinking that my little 8.2 pound 6 month old dachshund would never act out in a vicious way unless they were treating her in a bad way or scaring her. When I went to go pick her up they also never told me if the surgery went well, if the stitches were dissolvable, if I needed to come back to have her checked or any things I need to watch out for. They didn't tell me anything. I am very disappointed in this clinic and would never recommend someone to go there. Ever since they changed the techs the clinic has gone down hill. read more

I loved the care I received from the dr and all the people in the back were so friendly and caring...my problem is with the rude disrespectful old hag that works the front desk. She sets up appointments and then when you get there tells you oops sorry come back in a few hours cuz she messed up..and if you don't accept her lousy fake apology she says oh well the ln I refuse you..and don't come back.. I actually rate her less than 1 but I needed to put something and that's the lowest number. So ya...if you want to take the chance of getting turned away even with an appt. Good luck :) read more
