There is a good ratio of teachers in the Preschool room (4 teachers to 20 kids) and there are enriching programs for the kids including park district sports class, lessons in the urban garden/farm, and show and tell weekly. The teachers communicate via an app and send at least one picture update daily. The food is organic and they offer a wide variety of healthy choices despite also serving occasionally sugary cereals for breakfast or processed snacks like chips. The playground equipment is great and they just built a new playground for the toddler room. They care about community building and host many social events for the families as well as go on field trips in the summer. I'm really happy with TLC and feel like it's a great group of people.

My husband and I are both teachers, so we said goodbye for the summer. On her last day, we were both so touched by the kinds words her teachers shared with us. From the first time we toured the facility last summer, Ceci made our family feel welcomed at KindCare. On the first day we dropped our daughter off, Lupe made us feel like she was safe and in good hands. Brielle could always get a smile from our daughter and made sure to share all of her accomplishments with us. Brielle also said her laughter would sometimes wake up the other babies... so sorry about that! I always appreciated how Brielle and Lupe always took the time at pick up to describe our daughters day. They would also share observations and things we could look out for at home. Tamera and Sarah rounded out the team in the infant room and contributed the positive environment.

She was friendly to parents and kids. She genuinely cared about her work. The other teacher (Mrs. Carrie) seemed to be going through the motions and she tended to characterize kids who were physically active as "problem children." And surprise surprise, most boys in class were problem children. I am glad that we left for another preschool in the area. Class sizes at Oakton are a bit too big to effectively manage that age group. Staff seemed stretched too thin and low on morale. I don't think they were compensated enough for this tough job.

I had gone to a couple of open houses and I didn't find what I felt was a good fit until I walked into the classroom at Oakton. I loved it right away! My son seemed to love it right away, too. Mrs. Monique, the director, gave us a tour and everyone was warm and welcoming. I got a sense of integrity, excitement, a strong sense of community as well as diversity in the classroom which were all qualities I was looking for! I also really like it being attached to the college and campus. Since then, my kids have really thrived at Oakton and we have made so many great friends and memories. I can't say enough good things about it! I hope I have more kids so I won't have to say goodbye after my youngest graduates in a year! So glad I discovered such a wonderful Early Childhood Education Center that gave my kids such a fantastic start!

The owners and administrators run this center like it is any old business, they do not appear to have any real interest in creating a nurturing environment that allows kids to thrive. Their sole focus is keeping the classrooms full. This disconnect is hard to escape. As just one example, a number of families pulled their kids out at the same time in the fall of 2022 (at least 6, including ours), and I don't believe they asked a single family why they chose to leave. They definitely did not ask us. As long as they have a wait list to pull from, it does not seem to matter whether or how they could serve their kids or staff better. It's truly disheartening. That said, we are forever grateful for some wonderful teachers who are trying their best to do right by the kids. This, despite a lack of internal support that was so bad that many of them vocalized their frustration to parents. It only seemed to be getting worse the longer we were there. If you can find care elsewhere, do it.

Messiah is perfect to a T. When my daughter started school, she had a hard time napping, the teachers rubbed her back, sang her a song, gave a hug. How wonderful! She said she loved how they treated her "with love" and helped transitioning a breeze. Every time I drop her off, I see her excitement and joy to be back there, and that speaks volumes! The teachers provide an "old school" feel, and it was exactly what I was looking for. By old school, I mean it in the best way possible, kind, patient, loving environment; not the sterile robot like environment of many schools nowadays. The activities change throughout the day, kids get to interact with others outside their classroom. I LOVE that they have a huge playground with plenty of safe, fenced area to play and explore. Not only learning, but building in a child the yearning to want to learn/read more. Super clean facility, healthy lunches, lots of learning mixed with play makes Messiah just an awesome place. In the past 3 months my son has rarely been sick. I think that has something to say on the cleanliness as well. I'd highly recommend to send your child here for preschool.

Kiddieland is a warm and nurturing environment that both of my children love. They have attended the facility since it has opened, and have flourished under the care of the teachers and staff. The teachers genuinely care for my kids and give them hugs often! This year they have weekly classes in Mandarin. Last year they learned German and had weekly music classes as well. Unofficially they learned some Spanish and sign language. They are always creating beautiful artwork out of natural and recycled materials. Wow! The center stays away from mass-marketed characters and plastic furniture as part of the Reggio Emilia philosophy. They have in-house staff that cooks healthy lunches, as well as drop-off as early as 6am and pick-up as late as 7pm! They added an incredible outdoor playground this year, which even includes a garden! There are many opportunities for parents to get involved. In fact--it is highly encouraged. The tuition rates are truly amazing! I am paying about a third of what I would be paying at a like-minded center. Truly unbelievable! As a neighbor, I am so pleased to have them in my community. I live right across the alley from the center. The outdoor space is truly beautiful. One reviewer mentioned seeing the kids cross Cicero. I have NEVER witnessed this. I have observed at all times of day, and have never seen this at all. My kids are safe there. As an early childhood educator myself, I can honestly attest to the fact that this is an incredible childcare center. The Reggio Emilia philosophy might seem a bit odd, but it is really something worth looking in to. The classrooms offer reprieve from city life, and the curriculum encourages exploration, curiosity, and free-expression.
