Well, my in-laws always know the best people including accountants, attorneys, tax preparers, physicians, etc... Three years ago they referred us to Rusty's Tax Service after we had a terrible experience with a different service. Mary Thompson prepares our taxes each year and although she sees us once a year, she remembers our names, faces, and details from previous conversations! It's kind of amazing!! She prepares our taxes efficiently and each year we are in and out within 20 minutes. The service is exceptional. From a competency prospective, I could not be more pleased. During our first interaction, she helped us revise our taxes and reduced our amount owed by more than $1,000. Our questions are always answered and advice is always available. Back to the service, the staff are pleasant and approachable. The family business feel is warm and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there even late into the tax season. We won't go anywhere else. Rusty's Rocks!

After consulting 3 attorneys and comparing the pros and cons. I decided to hire John because of the…read morebackground he has with handling criminal justice. What I considered when I made my decision to hire him was that he has prior experience as a prosecutor, he works part time as a judge, he has over 20 years of experience in criminal justice, and he knows the prosecutors at the Olathe Municipal Court which is where I was cited to court. With all his background he can see the perspective of a prosecutor and a judge in order to attain the best outcome. In my case, I was illegally pulled over in Olathe because an officer driving behind me, ran my tags and they showed the owner with a suspended driver's license. The car is in my dad's name and we look nothing alike, he's 47 years old and I'm 22. There is no question that there was no reason for the cop to pull me over unless he was completely sure that the driver matched the description of the one with the suspended license. After I showed him my DL, registration, and insurance, he changed the topic and allegedly claims he smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Truth is, there was marijuana in my vehicle but it's been hidden for so long that the car couldn't possibly smell like weed. In the moment I just thought to myself that I can't prove what he claims to smell or not and thought that he could just use that as probable cause to search my vehicle anyway. Unfortunately I was not very informed about the dos and don'ts at a traffic stop so I just decided to be honest and gave up the marijuana I had in the vehicle. The reason I know he was lying was because it was less than a gram in a sealed container, which was in a zip lock bag, which was in a shoe, which was under the matt next to the spare tire in my trunk. He must have a great sense of smell if he could detect that all the way from the driver's window when it's been in the trunk for weeks. He was even shocked when I admitted to having some because I fell in his trap. My charges ended up being possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. When I met with John he seemed pretty secure of how he was going to work this case. What complicated my case a bit was the fact that I'm a temporary resident here in the United States and I had to resolve this issue by the time I had to renew my immigration status which was right around the corner. Luckily John was able to work out a deal in which I ended up taking a drug abuse evaluation and attending an eight hour drug and alcohol class. After I completed the class and got my certificate, my case was dismissed. If I would've been convicted, that would've caused a big conflict with my immigration renewal and I was in no disposition to risk that. Overall John handled my case very professional, in a timely manner, and took into consideration my special circumstances I was in, to get the best possible outcome. The only minor complaint I have would just be better communication with the client. Or maybe it was just me being my first time in trouble, but I just wanted to be up to date with each step of the way because I was worried sick. Besides that, very good attorney and I highly recommend him.

John did fantastic work for me in the state of Kansas, particularly the Leawood court system. After…read morereceiving a DUI charge with a BAC of over 0.15, along with some other minor charges, I was looking at three months of driver's license suspension and one year of ignition interlock. Luckily the witness officer for my hearing with the department of revenue failed to show and the case was dismissed leading to no restriction on my license. Regarding the criminal charges, I received 12 months of diversion. Considering the fact that I had a prior arrest and the severity of my charges(s), this was more than I could hope for and I'm very grateful for John's work. On successful completion of the diversion agreement, I will have no public record. I would highly recommend Mr. John E. Harvell for anyone facing criminal charges in Kansas.

We have never obtained a PoA from a law firm before and reached out to Cownie for his services. Unfortunately, Bill didn't listen very well during the initial phone call and assumed we were trying to solicit him for probono legal services and hung up on us. Fortunately for us, lawyers are dime a dozen and we immediately sought our services elsewhere. We were happy to take our business over to Kathleen Overton in the same area and she was able to assist us right away and secured a quote and appointment. She was kind, compassionate, and competent.

We are very disappointed with how this was handled. I interviewed several cleaners and chose this…read morecompany after they came to my home, saw the house and scope of work firsthand, and we agreed on $biweekly. After the very first cleaning--approximately 3 hours and NOT including my guest house--I was told the price would now be $ biweekly. That is a * 50%* increase immediately after agreeing to the original price. The actual cleaning was good, and I was pleased with how my home looked and smelled. My issue is strictly with the business practice. Had they quoted $ when they came to evaluate my home, I simply could have chosen whether to accept it. Instead, I hired them based on an agreed-upon price, only to have it changed after the first service. After having house cleaners for 20+ years, this unfortunately felt like a bait-and-switch. Good cleaning is important, but so are transparency, reliability, and honoring the price you quote. **Purposely withheld pricing as it is not anyones business what each client pays however this is about honoring good business practices overall.
