I had a highly disappointing experience at this office and will not be returning. I explicitly told…read morethe hygienist that I only wanted a basic teeth cleaning. Instead, the cleaning itself felt completely rushed, skipped essential steps like flossing, and I was never once offered a rinse. To make matters worse, the dentist came in for literally two seconds just to look in my mouth, and I was hit with a $225 bill. On top of the sub-par clinical care, the front office staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. It feels like this practice prioritizes rushing through patients and maximizing bills rather than delivering quality, thorough patient care. Save your time and money and find an office that actually cares about doing quality work.

I am not the easiest patient. I have been to a lot of dentists and have been less than satisfied…read more I've had dentists push extra unnecessary dental work. I think I have a high threshold for pain, but have had experiences where the hygienist is hurting me and had no regard for my feelings. I've had work done that I was not happy with. I've had experiences with dentists where they cancel on you short notice, but charge you when you cancel an un-confirmed appointment. I've had experiences with misrepresentation on the billing and more. I haven't had any of these bad experiences at Hawthorne Dental Associates and I've been going here for several years now. Dr. Rosenson and the staff are easily the best dentist office that I've dealt with. They are always very professional, accommodating and courteous. I appreciate that they always do their best to schedule me as soon as possible. The x-rays and cleanings are always quick and painless. I especially appreciate the thoroughness and gentleness. Dr. Rosenson has always been very personable and provides good dental advice. I have not been disappointed with any of the work I have had done. I will continue to be a patient at Hawthorne Dental Associates and recommend them to anybody who is looking for a dentist in the area.

I was experiencing severe wisdom tooth pain as my wisdom tooth started growing in, and luckily,…read moreRiverside was able to accommodate me the same day. I'm so grateful they did! I had previously visited another surgeon who was overcharging simply because they knew the pain I was in, but thankfully, I found Riverside. Dr. Richer was hilarious, made me feel completely comfortable, and gave a detailed explanation of my X-rays. The entire staff at Riverside was just as kind and funny, which truly made the whole experience so much better--especially for something as unpleasant as wisdom tooth surgery. When I went in for my procedure, they even gave me a free shirt, which was both hilarious and thoughtful. After surgery, they provided a head wrap and an ice pack, adding to the overall wonderful experience. Small touches like these really matter and show the level of care and thought Riverside puts into their patients. This is day two after surgery, and shockingly, I feel better than when I first went in. I highly recommend Riverside to anyone needing oral surgery. Thanks again, Dr. Richer and the entire team!

My husband and I paid over $5,000 to have his wisdom teeth removed. We signed a treatment plan for…read moreone thing and were charged for far more. The surgeon did discuss what he planned to do, so it doesn't seem it was a "something came up during surgery" deal, but several things were not listed on the treatment plan we signed with a price. My husband was told to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen after having impacted wisdom teeth removed which was the anestheisologist's decision to be fair. When I called the office because he was considering the ER due to the pain, a nurse, over the phone, insisted it could not be dry socket. She did not see my husband, is not the physician, and felt it was appropriate to give medical advice over the phone. I requested he see another surgeon in a different location (same practice). It was dry socket. The surgeon in West Orange was fantastic. The communication in West Caldwell left a lot to be desired. After the correct antibiotic was given and he was treated for the complication, we thought we were all clear. We went on with our lives and then received a bill the other day for just under $1200. I spoke with billing, I spoke with the office, and honestly, legal fees would be more expensive. I understand "things happen in surgery" and if our insurance covered this we might not have to pay it, but we couldn't ask insurance if it was covered because it was not what we signed up for. I honestly do not feel it was a change, because he mentioned a bone graft being part of the plan all along. I do not recommend the West Caldwell office. This was such a disaster and we finally could breathe and now we can't again. I would recommend the West Orange office. Dr. Brown in West Orange was excellent, and the surgeon our dentist requested him to see in the paperwork he sent over. I only wrote down the name of the office, not the surgeon he recommended so that was ignored on the paperwork when Riverside received it. The surgeons are fine, the West Caldwell office doesn't have it together so be prepared to do their job while you pay them far more than you agreed to.

After the evaluation, they called me asking for payment before even sending an invoice. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. Many reviews say the doctors are nice. That's not what I experienced. They may act polite, but let's be clear--they own this place, and they let the staff take the fall for their aggressive and unethical billing practices. It's all a performance. The real experience is stressful, expensive, and feels like a money grab. Nearly $2,000 for a basic evaluation with no actual treatment? Outrageous.
