Ridge Runner Roofing and the owner, J.T. Campbell is reprehensible. Run away( as fast as you can!) from hiring Ridge Runner Roofing. We hired J.T. originally for a new roof on our first flip. He told me his workers would start in two weeks. So, imagine my surprise when he texted me to say that his crew was at our house just a few days later. We were not prepared because we had a chimney we were debating getting rid of and if we did it ourself that would save us $500. So they just showed up and started working on the roof and we scrambled to make a decision about the chimney, which we decided to get rid of, but had RRR do it. Despite multiple claims from J.T. that the crew would clean up the yard, we found nails and other roof debris for months afterwards, and those chimney bricks were strewn all over our yard. Also, J.T. collected the final payment before the job was completed.
Despite those issues, J.T. bid for the replacement windows, and we decided to use RRR for that job, too. J.T. did warn me that he ordered windows from an USA made company and they still had not caught up with the back orders from Covid. He had a job that took 12 weeks, and the buyers decided to get a refund. Honestly, that should have been a HUGE warning sign but because the price was the best we wrote a check for the windows. We paid J.T. on September 29 and guess what? J.T. started with the excuses...J.T.'s sick children, the window rep was on vacation, then the distribution center wasn't returning calls, on November 2 nd I asked for an update. J.T. texted back, "Checked earlier this week and they were still a few weeks out." Meanwhile, we were making trips to Lowe's and there are a hundred windows just sitting in their beautiful rows. I texted J.T. a picture...why are we waiting for windows when LOWE's is overflowing with windows? And J.T. texted back, " I'm with ya. Taking forever and a day I want to see what they say."
On November 20th I texted, "Hey, J.T....Happy Thanksgiving! Are those windows ready for installation?" J.T. did not respond. I tried again on December 5th, "Hey, J.T. I still haven't heard from you about our windows. It's normal business hours and I do expect you to respond. Your mailbox is full. Please call me back today. Thank you." And J.T. texted back, " No worries! I was out of town the other week. I'll check."
Then J.T. said that the company's order was still a few weeks out and we gave him the deadline of January 3rd. Now, by this time we had done everything possible to finish the house without the new windows. We replumbed the house, new HVAC, all new electrical, painted, scraped the ceilings, we cannot move forward with any more repairs without the windows.
J.T. Campbell stopped replying to my texts from January 4 through January 9. In one of his texts on January 9 . J.T. said,"Said they should be here any day now. I told him if they're not here within a week I'm canceling and will need refund. At this point they're making me look bad to you." That was not what we had discussed...it was already past the deadline we gave. Then radio silence from J.T. until Jan.15. Finally got him out there on Jan 24, when he had to remeasure all the windows. (Why would he need to remeasure window's we've been waiting months for, you may ask.)
So many excuses from J.T....stuck with kids at the house when school was canceled, had a million things thrown at me, working in Charlotte trying to wrap up a cedar shake job...as long as the weather allows they would be at our house on Saturday ( oh, I'm sorry, the weather looked bad so I cancelled the workers- even though the weather was clear), we can only work on Saturdays because of that other large job. J.T. sent two men over to our house and had them yank out all our windows, and only installed the two windows that had been dropped off. Our house is completely opened to the elements, vandalism, or theft. Also the men broke glass and left the windows thrown about our yard.
J.T. Campbell is a terrible person, and Ridge Runner Roofing is the worst company you could select for any home repair. Campbell Roofing in Wilkesboro was owned by J.T's father, but he decided NOT to pass that business on to his son, having non-relatives take over that business instead of having J.T. Campbell ruin his name! So, trust me when I tell you to RUN away as fast as you can from Ridge Runner Roofing and particularly, J.T. Campbell. read more
