    Ridiculous ordeal to cancel!
    Kevin P.

Absolutely awful process to cancel your subscription, and they should be ashamed of their process. First, the inability of a customer to cancel online is just ridiculous. Then, when I finally get ahold of someone when their office opens at 7:30, it's obvious I was talking to someone in an offshore call center, as I could barely understand her. Despite me telling her I wanted to cancel my digital subscription, after feeling comfortable she understood what I was asking, she asks me, "So, sir, can I provide you with the information to reset your password so you can continue to enjoy your digital subscription?" Needless to say, after attempting to cancel online for 20 minutes, and ultimately getting a "server not found" message, I was done, and told her to cancel my account immediately, after I asked her if she misunderstood me initially, and verified she hadn't mistakenly heard me say I was having problems accessing my digital account.. Uggh... Goodbye, RTD!

Now printing on pink background, in keeping with their pink slant on the news. Also hard to read. Canceling my subscription.

Price increases every year while the paper gets smaller. Not much news left with all the advertisement space they use.

Unlike other reviewers I have been reasonably satisfied with reading the print version of the Times Dispatch, which I get daily.

Richmond Guide is a little local magazine that I always pick up at one of my favorite breakfast…read morespots. I would assume it is widely circulated but I went on the web site and they didn't list where it could be picked up. However, luckily enough, you can read the issue right on line (see? it pays to do a little research). The best article in the current magazine is by Walter Griggs who always does a great job picking out interesting tidbits of Richmond history. This particular article talks about the time when the "Train of the Future" came to the still open Broad Street Train Station (now the Science Museum of Virginia). The account is a wonderful glimpse into a world when trains were still "high tech" and things of wonder. There is also a great article on "Urban Playground" which sheds light on some great places for the urban sportsman and adventurer. It focuses on Richmond's bike and hiking trails, white water rafting, and climbing spots. I definitely learned something new for sure. The magazine is a handy size and is divided into dining, lodging, events, galleries, performing arts, exploring and "Spring" (they do a season for each publication) There are many local publications that spotlight the happenings going on in Richmond, "Style" and "Brick" first come to mind, but the Richmond Guide never fails to tell me something new about my city. This, accompanied by the fact that it isn't trying to be anything else, makes it worth picking up.

As an avid reader and lover of literature, book stores are kind of my jam. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The store was pretty empty as there was only one other customer there at the time. The cool thing about The Book Bar is that they sell books and wine! They also have a bar where they do wine tastings. Although I didn't indulge in a wine tasting during my visit, the wine tastings are free! Although they sell books here, this isn't what you'd expect from the typical book store. I think of it as more of a community space where you can buy and/or read books, sip wine, and enjoy good conversation. They also host events here, including author visits. In addition to books and wine, they sell products from other local businesses. I picked up some banana pudding cookies from here made by The Sweetest Thing RVA. Finally, I can't end my review without acknowledging the excellent customer service I received while there. I was immediately greeted by the staff upon entering the store even though she was helping someone else. Then, the employee proceeded to assist me when she had the chance. She asked me what I was currently reading and if I had a favorite genre. I told her that I like historical fiction and she recommended a book for me. The cool thing is she recommended a book that had references to the city of Richmond, which made the book a nice personal souvenir to remind me of my visit. I can't wait to return! Please check them out!

When you walk in, you'll find a beautiful, welcoming space. I may have visited too soon after grand opening, as the owner Krystle just restocked her shelves. I went looking for a specific book, which she didn't have at the moment (but could order if I wanted!) and bought another that caught my eye. There is also a whole section for treats, self care items, and goodies. I plan to be back and get some work done with some wine from their selection.
