Dec 2020, i started the process for buying a home. I was told mid to the end of May for completion. My closing date was pushed back 4 times finally closed end of Aug 2021. I was told it was because of COVID. I was forced to have my rate locked 4 times which cost me almost $2000, and when I asked Richmond American to reimburse me that money, becuase ultimately it was their fault for building during a pandemic, i was told NO. Buying a new home was not fun at all for me. It in fact caused way more problems during the build, i prepared 4 times to move, meaning planning time off from work, arranging for movers, and had to adjsut 4 times. The expierence, was depressing, and way to exhausting. When asked for compensation for having to rearrange my timeline four times i was told no. I didnt want money just a ceiling fan installed and still told no. The communication was horrible. I was not told about the dates being pushed back until the very last minute, which made it very inconvient for me. The expierence of buying a home from Richmond American Homes was depressing and my anxiety was to high. If you are planning in buying a home dont not use Richmond American, especially during the pandemic, you will incure excess costs because of this company, and honestly its like they dont even care, at least thats the impression i got when i tried multiple times to get compensation. read more

I can't help but echo what other reviewers have said. Full disclosure, I had no desire to buy in a development, but felt there weren't many options during the crazy real estate market. So, I wasn't primed to love this place. The house is nice enough, but the customer serviceis atrocious. Nicole, our warranty contact person is rude, dismissive and on a mission to prove that every single thing wrong in this house is the resident's fault. My front door lock failed during the week between moving my pets to the house and me meeting my movers. I was told this was not an emergency and would need to wait until business hours for a locksmith to be called, but of course that can take several days. My pets were locked inside the house. I shelled out more than $800 to replace the failed front door lock before I even moved into the house. Then, come to find out the back side of my fence is untreated. The reason? Apparently, they didn't have access to the greenbelt property behind the house. I guess it never occured to them to treat the wood before installing the fence. Now I'm being told that nothing will be done about it and besides, fences aren't covered under the warranty. When I submitted a proposal to the HOA (corporate run) for some work to be done on my house, I asked how long it would take to hear back. Rather than providing me with some kind of professional answer, Trinidy directed me to the section of the covenants where it reads submissions will be approved in "a timely fashion." What the heck does that mean and would it have been so hard for her to actually behave like a human being interacting with another human being? I hope this company and everyone that works for it takes a major hit in a housing downturn. What bunch of arrogant, self serving individuals who think they're super important for basically feeding the greed of large homebuilders. I don't know if they are better or worse than any mass produced housing construction company, but, for me, I'm keeping my eyes open to get the heck out of this Edward Scissorhands neighborhood as soon as financially possible. read more

Buyer Beware.... Latest update Richmond American Corporate Office wouldn't even consider our request and could not give a reason for their denial. The Landing at Cobblestone Ranch Castle Rock, Colorado We purchased lot #25 back in February and put down earnest money of $27, 000. We have since found out the front of our lot is facing someone else's backyard, with a dog run. We absolutely love the house that is being built, but are very unhappy with our lot. When we put our earnest money down we had no idea that our frontyard would be facing the backyard of another home. Our realtor, Courtney Wilson, met with Patricia at the model homes and she advised there was another lot, #14 that was available and we could possibly transfer our original home to this lot. It would cost us an extra $85,000. but we are willing to pay this. Our realtor took this to Patricia's boss and he was told we wouldn't be able to do anything like this. No reason given, just no it couldn't happen. They said folks can't just switch their lots. In our case, we get it, but are very unhappy on our home facing another persons backyard. We know that we have already made money on lot #25 and can turn around and sell it for a profit once we move in. This isn't the route we want to take. We want to get it right now. We are following our daughter and 3 grandchildren up from WA State. They bought a home in Parker and have been in CO for a month now. We miss them all terribly and just want to get our house right. Can you please help us with this? We know in your Richmond American Homes vision statement you strive to make your customers happy and we appreciate that caring attitude. If you could please help us with this situation we would so appreciate it. Update Received phone call from Sales Rep , Cody today . He said no one can ever change their lot, except if he house doesn't fit on the lot. He had a very rude attitude about it. We are very unhappy with this home builder. Not sure where to start. First I should have researched and read the reviews about Richmond American homes online before I bought from them. It all stated good with the sales person. Then about half way thru the build we started running into things that was "promised" us and was far from the truth. We was told and it was in writing that the extended covered deck out back was going to be 10X20. Its not even close to that. We paid a good amount 7K for something that was "a mistaken quote" They did take 2k off the price of the house. That was just the start. We had a problem with closing. A huge problem that they tried to blame on the VA. There is a issue with the fence in our back yard. They didnt seem to get the easement right before they built and we lost a good 20 feet of our back yard. They put the wrong floor in our shower, they put lights in our mirror that we didn't want and refused to change them. Trust me the list goes on and on. Worst case is nobody at Richmond American seems to care. We was the 7th buyer in this new community. Come to find out after talking to the neighbors we was not the only ones with many many issues. I warn anyone that is looking to buy in Glacier Meadows or with Richmond American Homes BEWARE! I wish I would have read more reviews and bought some place else. read more

Where to start. After the 1 year warranty the poor quality of workmanship is showing. We have sheetrock buckling and cracking where the ceiling meets the wall. That's happening in the guest bathroom, outside the powder room, inside the power room and in our walk-in closet. Our main bathroom tile is moving when you walk on it and the grout has cracked fallen out. Then our fireplace quit working. We called a repair company and it turns out that whom ever installed it did it wrong. Wired it wrong, no installation or fire proofing installation was done. Big hole left to outside so cold air was coming in and the vent was not flush with the siding of the house. I could put my fingers in the gaps. Carbon monoxide was seeping in. HOW DID THIS PAST INSPECTION??? Not only that, they put our stone on sheetrock! You never put adhere stone to sheetrock especially around a fireplace. We could have had a fire and the whole face of the fireplace could have come down. Terrible way to build houses. Not worth the $$$$ you all charge us!! We still don't have our Community Sign up and it's been 2.5 years that we've been living here. read more
