I showed up for my appointment, and no one was there. I called the business number on the door, and the apparent owner answered. When I told him I was at his office for our scheduled appointment, he started telling me of all the issues as to why he wasn't there. I asked "if you were having all these problems didn't it occur to you to contact your appointment (me) and alert to the issues?" His response was "....uhh.....oh, I'm sorry about that....". Not exactly the response I was looking for, particularly someone I was considering to handle something as serious as my taxes! Proceed at your own peril!

So the money being paid is not for her actual work or expertise but the clerical help. Had I known this upfront, I would not have used this business. The worst part, three weeks after giving them our information we did not hear until April 15th at 9 pm. Arlene calls and tells us we owe more than 10,000. We originally chose this company as Arlene stated she had experience doing taxes for expats. It is appalling to wait till the due date and then spring this large amount on someone. The good news is we took an extension and had another tax preparer take a look and ended up getting a refund. Stay away from this business if you want your taxes done on a timely basis, done right and by someone professional.
