IMO, internet 'ambulance chasers' who won't give you the time of day unless you're case is easy and…read moreprofitable for them. I opened my online application with "I need advice." In a telephone interview, Ceilia Wood (not even a paralegal) promised advisement in the event that they did not take my case. Well, they did not take my case, but they did advise me, I suppose... to look for another firm in The North Carolina State Bar Membership Directory search engine. That is not advice; it's a broken promise and breach of good faith. When I pointed out that the standard intial interview is widely accepted within the legal profession as consisting of a MUTUAL conversation between client and lawyer during which questions are answered, Cici - unapologetically - admitted, " I believe I did not do a good job explaining how our firm works. Our firm reviews cases before offering a consultation, the phone call I made to you was to get that initial information. I am not given the reasoning of that decision or the reason of why we give a specific referral. Once that decision has been made it is final." I then pointed out the apparent hypocrisy of their website: "We don't consider you a case number; you're a real person with real problems. So, we will treat you the same way we'd want to be treated: with respect, compassion, and honesty. Your rights and interests will always be at the forefront of everything we do." "Contact Us for a Consultation." I then offered a layperson's position: Google informs that "a preliminary or initial consultation with a law firm is standard procedure and a crucial first step in the attorney-client relationship that serves as a mutual evaluation where both client and attorney can determine if the client's case is a good fit for their practice." ** Crickets **

Let's start with the first…read morecall With Mike McKay, during the consultation he informed me that I had no chance of getting a settlement because i worked for a corporation in NC, and I would get workman's comp only. Then proceeded to tell me about a case he had where a worker was ordered to go in a trench and then buried alive in concrete and how in his trial he lost to the business. A pretty poor attitude to start nonetheless I gave them the opportunity to take my case. After going to clinics with no help from their staff in arranging any thing dealing with my condition, they demanded my health records in digital format. Informed his paralegal that I did not have an account and would be happy to sign a paper release for medical records for that specific facility since I had only been there after the Work accident injury. His firm than said, give me your name and password to your epic account and that's when i knew I was dealing with an unprofessional group of clowns that can only settle a workplace injury if the person dies or is paralyzed for life. After I informed Mike McKay of his unprofessionalism and threatened to relay these texts about sharing passwords to the Bar as well as super lawyers, he called me trying to explain he didn't want my case anymore. Go somewhere else if you care about your case ! I will be reporting Mike McKay for blatantly breaking common sense security protocols for health care data

Our biggest concern with this choice was losing the years of language we had invested in our daughter and her losing a something she absolutely loved learning. We discovered chicle when exploring Carrboro and decided to write them about a possible group class for homeschoolers. I worked with Sara Biondi, their office manager, and she was able to organize a homeschool group class. However, the first day of class we were the only family in attendance as all the other families had decided to cancel at last minute. Sara and the Chicle team worked with us and our budget to find a tutor solution for our daughter. We now have daytime classes at Chicle twice a week with two different teachers, Alma Manso and Perla S. which provide a fun and diverse learning experience. We feel our daughter has grown her Spanish skills more this year tutoring with Chicle than spending her entire days at an immersion school. We have been very impressed with her progress!! We have been attending Chicle classes for almost a year now and it has been an all around fantastic experience. From the organized office manager to the awesome teachers to the convenient location. We feel blessed to have found this little jewel in Carrboro!!! Keep up the amazing work you are doing CHICLE!!!! :)

I really like how they tailor a class or lesson to your needs. If you know of several people who want to do a class they can set that up or put you in one that is already set up. They also do private tutoring which is what I am doing now after my teenage daughter and I did a group class together over the Summer. It's a little more expensive but for me having the personalized attention and ongoing interaction has been very helpful and worth the extra cost. I took Spanish in grad school and didn't learn as much as I am learning now. I really love my instructor, Pilar. She is good at drawing you out and giving you feedback real time to help you speak more fluently. She is also very personable and warm and entertaining. I had Perla once and she was very nice and got both my daughter and I to practice and we enjoyed her instruction style as well. They offer children's programs (though might be in the summer), study abroad experiences and translation services as well.
