Super easy to make a tee-time. Go to the website and chose the date/time/number of players and after creating an account, you're done. Sort of surprising that they don't make you put a card in to hold the time like several other courses do on their reservation portals, but because of what comes next, I understand why. buttervalley.teesnap.net/ A few observations: Make sure you read the fine print that the rates listed are cash only rates. If you're paying with a card, you will eat their processing charges. The course for being in January was in about as good of shape as you could expect. Good amount of mud along the pathways between holes, most of the greens were like concrete, most of the cups were filled with ice, etc. Supposedly, we had the second tee time of the day, yet magically, there were already four groups of four out playing. Hmmmm? The first few holes were log jammed but eventually the spacing thankfully improved on it's own and things got better. Here are my two pet peeves. None of the markers were out. Orange tee is where? White tee is where? The yellows were there but anything else required a bit of guess work. Here's the biggie. The yardage for the holes. The score card says X. The stone marker at the hole says Y. A few of the holes (a few par 3's from what I remember) have a marker in the ground at the tee which says Z. Why is it this confusing to just list what the yardage actually is versus having a 20-40 yard swing? Conceptually, Butter Valley is basically the cousin to Sawmill in Easton. Is this course really 4 stars? Probably not, but, I'll give it to them because they stay open year round which is a plus and you cannot beat their winter pricing to walk 18. We'll be back.

Needless to say very unhelpful staff and definitely changes my mind on going back anytime soon, next time if this happens we'll just play through the dark and see how they like it.

Alright, quick take on a round yesterday at Berkleigh…read more Many different ways to get a tee-time here. Berkleigh is currently on GroupGolfer. They also appear daily on GolfNow and you can also go to their website. www.berkleighgolf.com/golf/tee-times They do the odd thing where if you use their website, you pay the same nuisance fee you would pay if you were using GolfNow and then a few hours before your tee-time, you are emailed a link where you can pre-pay for the round(s). A few random thoughts: One super annoying/lazy thing they do here is none of the holes have their yardage listed (sure, it's on the scorecard but everywhere else in humanity has it on the signage at the tee box) and nowhere can you see a picture of the hole. Admittedly, there are few very doglegs or tricks here and the ones they have compared to some Pocono courses are very tame, but still...... The double downside to this is that the scorecard listed yardage is wrong for a lot of the holes. Playing from the whites, I would say the yardage you're actually playing from is less than the yardage listed on around 1/2 of the holes. As an example, on #6, whites are listed at 182 but the tees are set at around 145. Currently due to the heat, there are no water hazards as everything has dried up. You could walk across the pond on #15 and the creek bed that goes through the property is all hard rocks. Very light patronage for a Friday afternoon. They let us tee off 30 minutes early with no issue. You can load up on freebies big time with a little adventurism into the bushes along 222 on #8 and into the trees on #10 and #11. Easily left +15 balls. Bar none the biggest thing that shocked me about this course were the greens. They are in great shape and are very approachable. Meaning that you don't have putts with triple breaks, massive undulations or dead brown spots. The speed is slightly fast but consistent throughout. A+ on this area. Overall, the course is what it is. Some of the reviews from years gone by are 100% insane. You need to have a big set and your eyes checked to call a course like this a dog track when you're paying $40 for a round. I have played many rounds at many different courses the past two years and there are a lot of places which are in far worse shape at a similar or higher pricing point. Great round today and I have no issue coming back anytime or recommending this place as a nice weekday value play course.

My daughter got married on a golf course in Las Vegas and I could not even fathom decorating the morning of the wedding and tearing down immediately afterwards. That is what this venue required unless you paid extra. Wow ... never heard of such a thing. The wedding itself was beautiful out by the pond and the happy hour was well thought out. The passed apps we're all very interesting and extremely tasty except for the shrimp which were severely overcooked. If you're a bride to be reading this, skip over the shrimp. Moving into the venue. For the reception they had two bartenders serving 100 guests and I think it went fairly smoothly except for the beginning when everybody rushed to the bar. I found it odd for the location they placed the bride and groom at. I think they should have been sitting front and center to the dance floor, but I think everything was poorly organized. When it came time for the buffet, the food choices were not appealing. Apparently the short ribs was a really good option, but I chose the fish and a potato puff with a couple of grilled brussels sprouts on the side. The fish was severely overcooked, the potato puff was bland and needed salt, and some over roasted brussels sprouts. Needless to say, I ate very little of my dinner and when I chose to stand up and put my dinner plate on a serving tray that was off to the side of our table, I was scolded by one of the servers that that was her job. I said that's great, but I just did not want this food sitting in front of me she once again said well that's my job and I said no reflection on you I just hate sitting with this food sitting in front of me. I don't think a guest should be scolded for cleaning off their table. The bride also to have a potato bar which included french fries and tater tots with toppings of your choice. The french fries were the most outstanding part of the whole meal, but I didn't quite think it was worth the money. Not sure how much they charge for that, but it wasn't something that was necessary since most people didn't even know it was there. The wedding and reception was scheduled for 5 PM to 10 PM. Buyer beware the bar closes at 9:30 and no matter what you ask they won't give you another glass of wine no matter how much you wanted to tip her. And to top it off at 9:45 the servers were already cleaning up the area and there were still a lot of people still there enjoying the wedding. After everyone of the guest left a few of us stayed behind to take down all the decorations. What is crazy show this is with everybody dressed up for a wedding having to scramble to take down decorations so they could shut the doors and we could leave. Do you think some of the servers would've helped? Not a chance. Would I recommend this establishment to a bride looking for a venue?? Absolutely not. If you want a smooth wedding that transitions from each thing to the next keep looking. PS ... they do set the tables beautifully and the barn itself might be worth choosing this location. The menu changes seasonally but is always filled with fresh, innovative, and delicious dishes As someone who suffers a celiac disease I was very pleased to find the summer 2014 menu listed "gluten-free" next to the appropriate dishes. Although most people with celiac disease are aware of what they can and cannot eat, it's really nice to see a country club go the extra mile and make their gluten-free guests more comfortable when selecting a meal. Moving on to golf. Even as a guest of a member at the club, I have always felt welcome on the driving range and taken care of by staff when picking out left-handed clubs to use.

I don't like sharing a cart with somebody I don't know. Other courses I have played and used it everyone loved it. The grounds crew, starter and ranger. I was able to keep up with the other group in their carts. I did not slow the pace of play, and less wear and tear than a regular golf cart. The excuses as to why I cannot use it truly was laughable.

I played Willow hollow on June 7th with my fiancee and a tee time of 2:04pm. I used to play this…read morecourse every year as part of a golf outing for the Reading police department but this was the first time that I played the course in over a year. Pros - It is a reasonably priced course that is right in line with the difficulty and maintenance that is performed on it. I paid $33 for each green fee which is hard to beat. This is a great course for beginners as it is only 5100+ from the whites and just over 5500 yards from the blues. There are not a lot of forced carries on the course which is good for a beginner but it is still challenging with small greens to be shooting at. The par 3 9th that has an elevated tee box and goes over a lake is probably this course's signature hole. The course is pretty wide open so it is hard to loose a ball, you just might be hitting from another fairway. Cons-With a lot of beginners it can get backed up at times and there are a lot of people looking for their ball in your fairway. This course also has four par 3's (3,5,6, and 9) on the front nine which is a little odd. Overall it is a good course with a cheap way to get your golf fix in and is great for the person just taking up the game. I will continue to visit Willow Hollow, however, if I have friends that are regular golfers coming in from out of town, we will probably be visiting one of the more difficult Berks County courses.
