Other Qypers have suggested that the quality of the food lacks due to the quantity cooked, but I…read moredid not find this to hold true. Although the choice was a little smaller than other Chinese buffets I have been too, it was still great tasting. We were greeted well and the service was very very good, we were told that if we wanted anything specific they would cook it for us on demand. Additionally, they told us they were cooking everything fresh due the fact that we were a group of 8 persons. This was nice, as I was showed a more personal service. The venue is not large, nor is it small, but the small buffet cart seems like it would cause crowding and queuing at busy times of day. The price was £9 per head for the buffet (at time of writing), which is decent for a buffet, as you'd pay more for at a normal chinese restaurant meal in Lancaster, but its not the cheapest I've had. A selection of buffet desserts are also included. The whipy ice-cream machine was a favourite of my student friends. Although the selection is nice, and I will definitely visit again, I could imagine that I would not visit too regularly as the selection would soon become bland and the appeal of all-you-can-eat would soon bore. Don't take me the wrong way, its a great place for a decent chinese meal, but it lacks something extra special for me to continue coming and to get my final star of approval.

This all you can eat chinese buffet would get 5 stars if you asked my sun as he favours quantity…read moreover quality any day. But as chinese buffets go its not that bad you know. I've been several times at different times of the day and I've always managed to get a seat. The choice of dishes can vary depending on how busy the restaurant is and at times people can be sat with plates poised waiting for the next load of crispy duck to come out of the kitchens. There is a good selection of starters - ribs, wings, prawn toasts etc - and pretty good mains as well. It didnt seem too hot on vegetarian options when we were there last. Prices vary dependent on when you go with weekday lunchtime being your best chance of a bargain with it rising steeply on a weekend. All in all great for filling your boots with but not the best tasting chinese food in the world.

The Jade Fountain chinese restaurant is situated on Cavendish Street, in the town centre just off…read morethe main shopping street. The restaurant is attractive and well-decorated, with plants and pretty little Chinese lanterns in the windows - very welcoming. It is split into two halves - upstairs hosts the banquet menus, while downstairs is the Jade Element buffet which is open at lunchtimes and in the evenings. Having never visited the upstairs part I can't comment on that personally, but the downstairs buffet restaurant is fantastic! The prices vary according to which day you go - I think I'm right in saying Monday and Tuesday are £8.90, Wednesday and Thursday £12.90 and Friday/Saturday are £13.90 for an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, which is great value when you consider you can eat anything you want! Lunch is about £6 or £7. They also do a special 'early bird' price if you go early enough in the evening, although I'm not sure of the exact details. The buffet itself has everything you can imagine, from starters such as prawn toast, spring rolls, salad and Chinese soups through to mains including sweet and sour chicken, satay dishes, beef and mushroom curry, noodles, rice, chips, honey and soya spare ribs (these are the best ones I've ever tried!), lemon chicken, crispy pancakes and dozens more dishes. They're all cooked really well too - I don't think there's ever been anything I've not liked from there. For desserts they have ice-cream, fruit skewers and a gorgeous chocolate fountain, all included in the price. You will leave feeling absolutely stuffed and probably have to lie down for half an hour afterwards, but it's well worth it. The waiters and waitresses are all very sweet too, and can't do enough for you. They never make you feel rushed - we've sat there for three hours before! Definitely our favourite restaurant in Barrow! There are plenty of tables - however its best to book, especially if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night. Unfortunately the restaurant being so close to town means parking can be a problem if you're going early on in the daytime; however if you go about 7pm onwards there's usually a few spaces outside, or on one of the neighbouring streets. Well recommended, and worth a visit!
