This was always…read morean insecurity if mine and I finally figured out how to pay for it as insurance does not cover it. About 6-8 months after, I felt my gums hadn't looked as I wanted them to and just wasn't overall too happy with the result. So I called back and made an appt. I thought maybe my gums were growing back maybe since my teeth had looked different from the pictures I took right when I got the procedure (once it healed). To note, this was over $5,000 and I still felt guilty saying I wanted it touched up. Dr. Shapiro was nice but she told me they looked fine and charged me $50 for the appointment. I cried the whole way home. 2 years later, I'm looking into getting the procedure again with a different doc which will be another $5,000. While my experience was great the first time, I felt swept to the side when I wanted to go back even though this procedure took me forever to financially recover from. But I felt since it was my smile it mattered and I wanted to love it. Just for others who may be saving for this, make sure you advocate for yourself.

There was no pain during the procedure. After it wasn't terribly painful. It was more from the expected swelling. I will be having more gum grafts done in March. I highly recommend him.

He is by…read morefar, the best, and most humble, orthodontist I've ever had for me and my family) told me after I got my braces off, to go see Dr. Chung for a splinting procedure, because my upper teeth would not fully straighten up, even with braces on. So, I go to his office. When I met Dr. Chung,and sat down on the chair, he came in and just tapped each of my upper teeth, and numbering them, that needed the splinting. It took no more than 1 min. After he finished, I wanted to ask him some question before going through with the Splint procedure. He abruptly interrupted me, and said "You want straight teeth? Yes or No?" Lol, I said yes. "OK, THEN." With a straight and grumpy face. I know it may sound a bit funny. However at the time, I felt disrespected by him, and he was really rude. I don't know what his problem was. I'm the one that's getting the procedure and have to live with it, not him. It's strange though, how my humble orthodontist, recommend me to this rude, incompetent man. He quickly rushed out, and didn't fully answer any of my questions. The whole meeting, was a Quick 2-3 min meet. When I got to the secretary, to schedule the next appointment, they charged me $80 just for a 2-3 min consultation! I have great dental insurance. It should be for free the consultation, in my opinion. Especially, if another doctor recommended me to him. Smdh. Just fyi, I do have dental insurance from my job, working for the state. But my insurance said, it doesn't cover for it because this is considered, a cosmetic. So in the end, I didn't like the experience was a thumbs down. I gave it two stars because, #1 the location is nice, and the #2 the secretary was kinda nice. I will get the splint done. Just, not with this asshole of a doctor. if you have to go meet him, just remember, that he is a bit of an asshole, they charge you $80 for the consultation, and may not answer any of your question in detail. So be warned. Hopefully things will change for the better with him.

I told her I was already aware of that. She then asked what kind of insurance I have, and I said I only have Medicaid--but again, I reassured her that I understand they don't accept it and that I am willing to pay out of pocket. To my surprise, she said she still couldn't accept me because I have Medicaid. I felt completely discriminated against. She even told me it would be too expensive for me. I responded, "Is it because I have Medicaid, and you assume I can't afford it? Do you not believe I'm capable of paying?" What a terrible first impression. I left that conversation feeling judged and disrespected.

I have extreme anxiety when visiting the dentist (my bp is literally 149/90 on arrival every time) but he always puts me at ease. He is extremely patient and explains the procedure step by step, often asking if I'm doing okay. I've had fillings, crowns and cleanings done by him. I recently had a root canal and can honestly say it was pain free. The endodontist Dr. Tran was amazing. He was assisted by two dental assistant during the procedure. IN 2013 or 2015 Dr. Pirie gave me a dental implant. Again he did an excellent job. He used my own stem cells for the implant. He went to Italy to learn the operation for dental implants using the patient's own stem cells. Using the patient's own stem cells greatly reduces the risk of infection. In 2013 to 2015, as far as I know most dentists in Rhode Island were using cow stem cells for dental implants. I need a few dental implants now. Again I choose DR. PIRIE for the operation. They made an appointment for the fitting, which was supposed to be on September 23rd. We were contacted today, September 18th, letting us know that our insurance would not authorize the treatment without trying a CPAP first. I spent several hours speaking to different departments at our insurance company to find out the procedure and after much research and speaking with a high level supervisor, it was confirmed to me that we did NOT need any prior authorization, nor does my son need to try a CPAP before getting a mouth guard. When I called the office to discuss this with them, I was met with a rude women who would not allow me to speak. Who in fact told me that I could pay them $2500 upfront and then fight with my insurance company to be paid back. She was a receptionist...not even billing! Do not go to this dentist office is you would like to ask questions or advocate for yourself. They do not want to hear anything at all and think they know what they are talking about...not to mention WAY overpriced. I called my own dentist and asked about a mouth guard and was told is was only $1500 and we could submit the claim. Awful!!!
