My corporation was referred to Resnik by another Chapter 11 Corporate Bankruptcy Super Lawyer during the California fires. Boy am I glad they did! I had my consultation with Hayes. He answered every question I came with very accurately and honestly. He didn't rush, was very compassionate, and clear on what we should expect. This Law firm is the most disappointing at Loan Modifications. IMO they conspired with the lender and withheld relevant information from me as their client. There billing practices were also in violation of the law by what the California Bar Ass, told me. As a loan Modification Lawyer they requested a retainer fee at the start of their work. There was tiered payments which I understand violated California Law. To make matters worse Simon & Resnik advised me to stop paying my mortgage after I had been a perfect mortgage payer for 20 years. This decimated my credit lines and reduced my fico score from approx. 800 into the 600's. I was also intentionally misled by Simon & Resnik about the terms of my trial Loan Modification. After completing four months of trial loan modification payments I received the final loan documents from the lender. There was extra principle amounts of over $80,000 from the conveyed amount from Simon & Resnik. Additionally there was a tiered interest that escalates in four years. This was never disclosed by Simon & Resnik to me. I never contacted the bank directly. I didn't want to be accused of interfering with the process that I was paying over $5,000 for from Simon & Resnik. They tried to insert a $7,5000 contract for their services in the week or so that i initially consulted them and the day I came in to finalize our relationship. That was a big RED FLAG! All along the process my Bank (lender) was Dual Tracking the loan. Putting me into foreclosure with a sale date & time while I was negotiating a modification in good faith. Matt Resnik regularly said we can always file Bankruptcy to stop the sale. I made it clear before I signed any agreement that I wanted a Loan Modification only.My only intention was a Loan Modufication with a Principle Reduction to reflect the comps in my area. My home was worth at least ($200,000.), two hundred thousand less than the loan amount. I kept on sending Matt Resnik Comps for my home. I could have short sold my home for $250-$300 thousand dollars less than my final loan documents represented. All Resnik said was I knew you didn't want to pay me. I had already paid him punctually 2 of 3 payments. I paid him his third payment right on time. Resnik did mention for another $1800 we could start the process all over again. This is my 5th or 6th posting on Yelp. Matt Resnik is an expert at removing negative Yelp reviews. Presently I have the L.A. City Attorney & The F.B.I. Fraud department investigating Simon & Resnik. Every bit of this is true. I was receiving 10-15 foreclosure notices monthly. At times, the notice to stop the sale of my home didn't come until the same morning (by fax) that it was scheduled to be sold. The law called for a 10 day sale cancellation. If there is a term beyond Malpractice & fraud it might be appropriate for the way Simon & Resnik handled this Legal matter. read more

Matt is the best bankruptcy attorney in Sherman Oaks. I consulted with Matt over a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I had issues with overwhelming credit card debt after Chase increased it's APR for no reason. It set off a chain of events that were really hurting me. He made me feel like I had options and all was not lost, I could rebuild my credit after the 7. I had some concerns about a piece of property I was having issues with and Matt also turned out to be a real estate lawyer as well! We were uncertain what we should do. We had a lot of debt that we had accumulated oer a period of time, some because of a lost job, some because of meical bills, and several credit cards. Attorney Simon sat down with us and explained our best way, maybe not even filing bankruptcy. We had three choices, don't file, file a chapter 7 or file a chapter 13. He said a chapter 7 would get rid of most of our debt but we'd have to continue to pay both our mortgages. He said in a chapter 13, we'd have to pay some of our debt but we could get rid of the second mortgage because we owed more on the fist mortgage than our house is worth. He told us to think it over and didn't push us at all. A few days later we called needing a few more answers. Then we decided to file a chapter 7. It was best for us. What they sent you is a warning that your house is going to be foreclosed upon, and an explanation of Ch13, a federal program to save your house, and some possible ways you can get relief in state court if the lender has made mistakes on your loan. They are not slimy. They are my competitors in the Chapter 13 business; and your reaction is one I get too with some prospective clients. You are so use to scam artists that you overreact and reject a firm that can help you and is legitimate. (they're attorneys so if they are not legit go to the State Bar). read more

I must admit, this is the first time I'm writing a review on Yelp, or on any social media website for that matter. However, Simon Resnik & Hayes LLP is absolutely worth talking about. For a multitude of reasons. I went in to Simon Resnik Hayes LLP seeking help with a loan modification. The consultation was free and we met with a wonderful young woman named Adelina. There was no no idle chit chat about promises that could be made, nor were we pressured into anything. Adelina laid out for us exactly what the various possibilities could be and was straight forward. She knew not only about our bank, but also let us know what other banks were doing and what we could expect from the loan modification process. During this appointment, both Mr. Simon, as well as Mr. Resnik, poked their heads in and introduced themselves. While I'm sure they cannot do this with everyone, it was great to see the rapport that was going on in the office. From the minute we walked in the door, to the minute we left, the atmosphere was positive and warm. Having done an incredible amount of research on our own, as well as going to other firms that promised a free consultation, only to pressure us into signing on the spot, we were pleased that there was none of this at Simon Resnik & Hayes. If anything, my husband and I looked at each other like "is this for real?" We hired them on the spot. My wife and I are grateful to Kevin Simon, Matt Resnick, Shannon, Tina and their attorneys for their tremendous effort and accomplishments in obtaining a best-case-scenario bankruptcy and successful mortgage modification. Some background: Our finances were a disaster following income reductions as well as unforeseen expenses. Previous attempts at negotiating debt, interest rates and a modification using another attorney and non-profits such as NACA were costly and unfruitful. My letters to the Treasury's Comptroller of the Currency, Fed., bank's "executive" office, politicians and even investors were also a waste of time, merely reinforcing my belief that we're now closer to a plutocracy than ever before. In our case, the bankruptcy was also somewhat complex due to a cross-collateralized second mortgage among other things. While other attorneys attempted to sell us on a quick and dirty solution (BK and walk away), Simon and Resnik, provided a highly specialized solution (Chapter 13+7, i.e. "Ch. 20"), which allowed us to keep our only home with an affordable payment plan. A note of special thanks must go to Shannon (BK Team) and Tina (Mods) who provided exceptional and caring support throughout what would ordinarily be a very stressful process. Both Tina and Shannon are very efficient, organized and experienced. For the modification process, Tina helped to de-fuse a toxic first mortgage set to reset in the near future. Moreover, she accomplished in under three months what other organizations, previous attorneys and I spent three years dawdling over. I was in foreclosure in 2008 on a property. Later Bank of America did loan modification. I paid four months then bank refused the May 2010 payment with excuse of having sale date on the property. in 2011 property was auctioned for delinquent taxes. That was not the end of my nightmare. I found out in 2014 that US Bank had redeemed the property without my knowledge. By then I owed over $60,000 in property taxes. No insurance on the property even though, there were 4 tenants living in it. Furthermore, I was still in open foreclosure by US Bank. I took over the property Dec. 2014. By May 2016 I had already paid over half of the taxes. I had spent $74,000 on the property when US Bank filled a sale date. Due to long weekend holiday, not being prepared, my attorney suggested bankruptcy. In rush I hired an attorney who is expert in Chapter 7 and 13 only and filed Bankruptcy on May 27,2016. Obviously by then 8 years had passed and had big delinquency with the lender. I was promised by bank, they would sell the property to me for $400,000. I hired Mathew Resnik around end of 2016, to do the negotiation. He suggested to convert to Chapter 11. He said, it would be really easy, I would pay $2000 a month and in 3 months he would get me confirmation and then I could clear taxes. The minute his assistant lawyer, Ms. Moradi came in the picture, everything changed. She pushed me to pay $4236.20 instead of $2000. Confirmation would take much longer also. There was an issue with IRS. Ms. Moradi would not write a letter to them, because I did not owe money and I would look good in the court. Long story short after they received $15,000, and Resnik never helped, finally on June 23rd they withdrew. I took over, when I went to court, everyone said Resnik has worked at most for $5,000 to $6,000. Did not matter. I wrote a letter to IRS and clear that. Then I took County to court for monthly penalties and with judge's help I cleared that. I took city to court too and cleared their filing. Then in the court negotiated a value with US Bank again with Judge's help. After everything was cleared, I hired another attorney and case was just confirmed. As you see, Mathew Resnik's promises none of them came true. I believe I end up with higher value due to their activities in the beginning and obviously the monthly payment was really high. Mathew Resnik just filed in the court and are asking for over $28,000 for six month doing nothing. Because Chapter 13 attorney had all the information in the court's computer already. They just converted the case to Chapter 11. They filed few things but never went to court to clear anything. So for few months of doing nothing, they are asking for over $33,000. I call this theft. I think Resnik, Hays and Moradi is very bad firm. No one should hire them. read more
