The first was that my sister used Shari of the firm for some estate legal services. The second was I checked on the internet what was a typical fee for attorney service for a home sale in NJ and found it to be $1500 to $2000. When I asked Seth what his fee would be he stated on the phone call "about $1500" as the" buyer attorney has more heavy lifting" As it turned out the sale was elongated due to the buyer having some difficulty securing financing. However, the fee ended up being over $5000. That is more than triple the original estimate. When asked to reduce the fee or even acknowledge the original estimate Seth refused. The fee agreement was based on hourly rates not a fixed fee. The services provided were professional and high quality but I felt I was taken advantage of in the high price required to be paid.

This is a statement of provable, personal experience. The executor of our Mother's Estate hired…read moreC&S to represent them. Closing an estate is often factious and anxiety-making. The attorneys at this firm mailed false accusations of theft to a beneficiary, supported their client, the executor, in making no home inventory for the benefit of beneficiaries and in providing specious receipts (after the first and final accounting) for estate property which had been confiscated by the executor acting in a manner 100% contrary to the expressed wishes of the deceased. These attorneys further disregarded evidence that the heirs of the estate provided proving that they had not been given equal access to the deceased's property. These attorneys did not even respond to the heirs attempts to seek mediation for the resolution of these several issues. The law is exact as it relates to the settlement of an estate in NJ. I am sure that C&S followed the law. Sadly, attorneys can add insult to injury by failing to enforce the intent of estate law; to do the wishes of the deceased with transparency and in the utmost good faith. They can make a painful experience worse in their arrogance, indifference and failure to respond to issues that they have agreed in writing to remedy. In this situation, C&S acted in the interest of their client and very effectively used the law to deny the other heirs of this estate, their equal rights. Perhaps this is an old story to many. It feels entirely unjust when it happens to your own good Mother and family.
