Great experience with DeFrances! Convenient location on Coursey near Jones Creek in Baton Rouge…read more Very nice staff who work here. One of the best dance places in Baton Rouge that's been teaching girls and boys to dance and compete for years. My girls sadly only wanted to dance for a couple years, but if/when they ask to again, we'd gladly go back to DeFrances. My girls loved their teachers, and I always enjoyed the parent watch classes. DeFrances always chose beautiful costumes and were incredibly organized for the recitals. We danced with another local company before, but DeFrances definitely had it down to a science especially compared to the other place. Dance is an expensive hobby (in my opinion) but well worth it for the skills learned and confidence earned. I would bring my girls back here in a heartbeat and saw no reason to not recommend DeFrances to other parents out there looking to start their kiddos in dance.

I recently had a horrible experience with this dance studio. If you have a non caucasian child I…read morestrongly suggest you do not choose this studio and if your child already attends I suggest you seek another establishment. I am saddened that I witnessed racism amongst the children. Although I understand racism is a learned behavior and begins at home with family, a place of business should not be tolerating it. Especially with children! I am sad for the child who has learned already to discriminate but watching someone I care for deeply be subject to racism is heartbreaking. I can NOT sit quiet and let De Frances know that their refusal to even address the issue is ok. A young child has been forever effected by these interactions during an innocent dance class. No child should ever be made to feel ashamed over their skin color, ethnicity, religion, etc. I am appalled that adults in charge think this behavior is ok and claim there's nothing they can do or say because they can't control what other families believe. Really, REALLY De Frances? You want to send the message that little kids having to experience racism while in your care is a better option than addressing the issue. If you think addressing the problem is uncomfortable for you, imagine the little one whose confused about being discriminated against by fellow students over her skin color. And to learn you all just don't even care. Unacceptable.

All of the students, parents, and teachers are afraid, Tari truly does not want any feedback just your money and a whole lot of it. As a parent I asked questions and was yelled and screamed at and chased out of the office (not a dramatization). Families spending $30k to $50k + annually are not allowed to even question a schedule or a bill. This is the most expensive studio in Baton Rouge and while it does have a great technical dance program, there is no loyalty and no grace given. Tari will not hesitate to run off long term families and children. This culture of fear has persisted in this community for decades unfortunately.

Revolve 26 Is a Blessing -- One of the Best Studios in Baton Rouge!…read more My grandbaby started dancing at just 3 years old at another studio but let me tell you nothing compares to what we've experienced since joining Revolve 26. She's now 8 years old and has been with Revolve 26 for three wonderful years. The growth I've seen in her dancing, her confidence, and her passion is beyond anything I could have imagined. Mason, the owner, is simply amazing. Even though Revolve 26 is still considered a newer studio, Mason's talent, vision, and modern teaching techniques put her in a league of her own. Everyone I talk to in the Baton Rouge dance community always says the same thing: "If you're with Mason, stay with Mason." And I completely agree! Mason truly cares about her students. She teaches with discipline and love, pushing them to be their best while making sure they still have fun. My grandbaby absolutely loves going to class. She lights up when she's dancing, and I know it's because of the positive, empowering atmosphere Mason has created. Revolve 26 isn't just a place to learn dance it's a place where young dancers are nurtured, believed in, and brought to their full potential. I am so grateful we found this studio, and we're not going anywhere. If you're looking for a studio where your child will truly thrive, Revolve 26 is it!

Her teachers are so sweet and patient with the kids and do a wonderful job teaching them classic ballet while letting them still be playful, silly kids! I love that they teach them ballet technique rather than just spending the year memorizing a dance routine for a recital. They do have what they call an "Informance" or an informal performance at the end of the spring semester to showcase what they have learned in class. It's much less expensive than a traditional recital because they wear their ballet uniform that they wear to class for the performance instead of costumes. This dance school is also tied to the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre so there are lots of opportunities for the little kids to see the hard work it takes to be a real ballet dancer one day! My daughter is always bright-eyed seeing them all in their pointe shoes!

October 2016, my daughter began the road to the "Kick It Out" dance recital that took place this January. Wow, what an awesome program for the boys and girls of the community! I saw unification of different ethnic groups and I loved the diversity! From the moment the classes began, it was basically a rehearsals every Sunday until the final shows in January. My daughter had never done a dance class before, but enjoyed this very much. During the week of the final performances, they moved them to the Manship Theatre to prepare, rehears and learn their spots. The supercharged dance performance by both professional dancers and the children was very entertaining. I was thoroughly impressed by the compilation of the music and the dance numbers. Oh my gosh, what a perfect evening; the both times I saw the show. My daughter loved being on stage so much that she went from not being interested in participating next year to confident that she wants to participate next year. This was amazing and I am so glad that Of Moving Colors does this, so kids who don't participate in dance lessons throughout the year get to be part of something huge in the community! Thank you, OMC!
