I've tried all the new circuit classes from Revel Fit, Renegade, OTF, F45, and I guarantee that no one will program or kick your a$$ like Bryan at Versatile Fitness! This is a no-frills, old boxing gym vibe (think OG Rocky) where you come to WORK! Bryan's programming, exercise acumen, and super sets will challenge you, but also be some of the most effective and productive workouts. He has almost every piece of equipment I've seen in a gym from rowers, ropes, barbells, curl bars, pulley systems, sleds, water weights, benches, kettlebells, free weights, Terra core, TRX, bands, discs, and the list goes on. I have attended about 10 classes and I have yet to repeat a workout. It's insane the quality of training and programming you would get through this gym for the price. Anywhere else, it would cost thousands for this level of programming, so anyone who attends these classes is getting a steal of a deal for this type of workout! Classes are 45min, with several stations per class. Each day has a target focus such as pull, push, leg, abs, and/or cardio, depending on the day. The target is there, but you are always getting a decent total body workout. Each station has 2-3 exercises that you do 2 sets per station. You have around 3 people per station, and then you rotate. Bryan goes around to demo each exercise as you move stations, and also has the workouts written on a whiteboard at the front of the room. Bryan will also provide quick corrections, as needed. Please note, in large group class settings, rarely will get you get alot of correction or instruction. It's not feasible to have that much personalized focus in these types of classes. Each class starts with a short warm-up, and a quick cooldown at the end. I have only taken class with Bryan, as he is the staple of this gym. He also has an extensive background with over 20yr of experience and he also offers some nutrition and personalized coaching programs for fat shredding and other fitness goals. This gym is a hidden gem and morning classes are usually full. I am literally perplexed how the afternoon classes are not exploding with members because I have yet to see anyone have the stellar exercise programming and versatility that Versatile Fitness provides. I've seen so many different trainers and attended many gyms, and Bryan's programming is the most innovative and BRUTAL (in the best way), that I've experienced. If you're looking for a serious SWEAT, a great community, and incredible workouts, VF is the spot!

Stay away from this gym if: you dislike working hard, you hate fun music, you want to workout with people who suck. Join this gym if you: want a great workout with no mental effort on your part, you enjoy being pushed to be your best, you want to support a small business instead of a corporate monster. Side note: I appreciate that Bryan the owner places a large focus on finding trainers that are a cultural match for VF. Shregar, Victor, and Mauritzio all bring the energy.

She made me want to push myself and not give up. I like the pace of the class where nothing is rushed and nothing is too confusing. The weight portion of the class was definitely challenging especially after intense cardio, but none of the moves were too crazy. I like the group format, and I think on different days they have stations on ipads, but this split class was nice as well. I will definitely be back!

On the day that we scheduled to come the sign in tablet was not finding our reservation. There was some confusion with the check-in as the tablet didn't recognize our name. Halfway through class we got pulled aside to sign a waiver at the front (just me). We also explained to them that we were contacted by someone and offered a free class. The class schedule is like a rotation. You get to hit the bags and move on to a bunch of core exercises. At the end of our class we had to "sign out". Which meant we had to talk to a rep at the front. I think they use that opportunity to sell us classes. It was kind of awkward because we were dead tired and I felt kind of put on the spot. I declined and the following 2 weeks after I received several voicemails of them wanting to offer me another free class. I don't think boxing is my thing personally, but I can see how this can be an effective HIT workout for those who would enjoy boxing. I would give this place a 3.5 round it up to a 4 because the instructor and employees were kind to us even though there was a miscommunication.

You do…read moremost of your exercises on a machine that similar to a reformer but you actually change the incline on it depending on what you're doing. You also use some weights and resistance bands. Justine was my instructor today and she was very attentive. I'm working through a few injuries and she was great as far as offering modifications that would make the work out appropriate for me. As much as I enjoyed the workout, and I will go back, I do have a couple things that keep me from giving the studio five stars. First of all, I found the equipment to not be very clean. The parts of it that you touch are clean, but the components underneath the equipment were very dusty and dirty. I'm talking clumps of stuff on the equipment. And again it's not a part that I'm touching but when I'm leaning over doing a plank on the machine, I'm looking directly down on it. Then when I'm laying on my back, looking up at the ceiling, the big industrial looking vents that are on the ceiling are also covered in clumps of dust and dirt. I feel like these are things that they should be cleaning at least once a month just knowing that the positions that you get in for these exercises, the clients gaze will be directly on them. And judging by the amount of dust and dirt and lint, etc., on the surfaces, it hasn't been done in a very long time. The second thing is the microphone kind of seems a little hollow to me. When the instructor speaks, the music goes down, but then when the instructor stop speaking, the music volume goes back up and sometimes with the volume changing and the hollow sound it's difficult for me to tell what the instructor saying. This might just be a matter of my taste. I can definitely work around it and was able to follow the class because the instructor was really good about demonstrating everything.

You can decide how hard or not to push yourself. OT PB is not a studio where you are pushed past your limits at the risk of injury, but they provide phenomenal encouragement without judgement. I used to think Barry's Bootcamp was the most challenging but rewarding workout... After going to OT for over a year, I found BBC to be easier because I challenge myself harder when I am told to go "all out" at OT PB versus being told to press a speed number or pick up a specific weight at BBC. My muscle and running speed + endurance has increased immensely since joining. But that is not even the best part... The coaches and front desk workers at OTPB truly make the experience. They are all the most kind, supportive people and make you feel so comfortable. The class attendees all range in age and fitness level, so people at any point in their fitness journey will be accommodated and welcomed. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable about muscle groups and correct form kindly to prevent injury. Half of the fun is just getting to talk and catch up with the employees! Overall, I could not recommend OT PB more to people. The workouts are awesome, the people are incredible, it is super clean, and the vibes are great. Try your first class free!

I decided to take control of this issue and embarked on a exercise / diet odyssey. I started doing San Diego Core Fitness bootcamps when I was 275lbs. Two years later, I am now 200lbs. I am fitter, stronger, have more endurance than I have ever had in life, period. The bootcamps at San Diego Core Fitness have been a core part of this transformation. Initially, I was doing 2 to 3 bootcamps per week. These days I'm operating a tempo of 10-15 bootcamp classes per week as well as 5 yoga classes per week. If you push yourself, ignore that little voice in your head, and show up on a regular basis, you will have results. San Diego Core Fitness is run by Justin and Rachel. They do an amazing job of creating an assortment of different and challenging classes. The classes are for everybody. It doesn't matter if you are grossly out of shape or a seasoned athlete, these bootcamp classes will not cease to challenge you. Most of the classes are cardio HIIT based classes and there are a number strength oriented classes as well. Currently, they operate out of three locations: Morley Field, East Mission Bay, and Aero Dr. Monday through Friday they run two bootcamps at Morley Field in the morning and two bootcamps at East Mission Bay in their afternoon. There are some afternoon classes at their indoor location at Aero Dr. There is one Saturday morning bootcamp and no bootcamps on Sunday. In addition to this, they run quarterly challlenges which come with some pretty nice prizes (e.g. Afternoon on a sport boat). Justin and Rachel will occasionally host social events as well. They are good / friendly people with a comprehensive knowledge about fitness and nutrition. All this at the lowest price currently available. You really can't lose.
