I normally do not leave reviews like this, but people deserve to know what they are walking into before trusting Revival Transitional Living with their recovery and safety.
This place was one of the most toxic, dysfunctional, and unsafe environments I have ever experienced. The houses were extremely cliquey, full of gossip, favoritism, bullying, and constant drama. Certain residents were treated like they could do no wrong while others were targeted, threatened, or looked down on. If you were not part of the "popular" crowd, life there became miserable very quickly.
After the original owner passed away, everything completely spiraled. The organization became neglected and unprofessional. Residents rarely saw leadership, problems were ignored, and serious issues inside the houses were allowed to continue. There were obvious signs of drug use and relapse happening around us, but management turned a blind eye depending on who the person was. Some residents were protected while others were constantly criticized.
The condition of some of the houses was horrible. The men's houses especially were dirty, chaotic, and poorly maintained. Our house eventually flooded during a storm because of roof damage, and instead of helping residents find safe housing, we were basically abandoned. We were facing eviction, the house needed major repairs, and we were terrified about where we would go.
What shocked me most was being told not to cooperate with the landlord and to continue paying rent while living in an unsafe home. We were told to keep the doors locked and ignore the landlord when he came to the property. Meanwhile, nobody was providing real solutions for the women living there.
I personally was screamed at, insulted, and humiliated while trying to figure out stable housing for myself and my children. Instead of support during recovery, I experienced manipulation, intimidation, and chaos from people who were supposed to help vulnerable women rebuild their lives.
The saddest part is that some women genuinely needed help and were failed by this program. Residents openly expressed concerns about drug and alcohol use in the homes, but nothing changed until tragedy happened. The environment felt more focused on favoritism and control than actual recovery.
I stayed because I had children and nowhere else to go at the time. If you are truly homeless and have absolutely no other option, maybe this place can temporarily put a roof over your head. But if you value peace, structure, professionalism, recovery, or mental stability, stay far away from this place.
The only positive thing I can say is that this experience motivated me to completely change my life. Since leaving, I returned to school, pursued my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration with a concentration in analytics, earned certifications related to recovery housing, and built stability for my family. I learned exactly what kind of environment I never wanted to become part of again. My life has Been filled with positive experiences, sobriety, and success Despite Revival. read more
