Let me first establish that I've had a lot of outboard mobile mechanic working on my outboards over the years. Until I met Dave with Rev Tech I was under the impression that all of these people are just flakes - irresponsible and unreliable. I've been lucky to run into Dave while he was working on slip neighbor's outboard this summer. My neighbor had nothing but high praise for him and the quality of his work (always good to hear); Dave did not have his business cards on him. Luckily, I was smart enough to quickly snap a picture of the back of his Rev Tech T-shirt, so I was able to get in touch when I was down. Dave took care of my last engine problem earlier this month. He owned the issue all the way through, till my engine was humming again. Dave is very professional, and highly knowledgeable. He obviously has a lot of experience. He always showed up on time; he was fast and efficient while working on the problem. Dave is the real deal; you can feel his excitement while troubleshooting, narrowing down the possible issue. We ordered the most likely failed parts he identified; he replaced them. He got my boat back in business as soon as I could hope for. The guy that posted recent negative report on him obviously have not had much experience dealing with outboard mechanics in Hampton Roads area. If you expect them to be able to answer all calls and VMs the same day, or even in a couple of days, especially in the middle of the summer - you're not being realistic. Secondly, plastic carbs that are rebuilt have a 50/50 shot to fit back and not be warped; speaking from personal past experience. I hate to see folks feeling compelled to review someone's work poorly on Yelp, when they did not even experience the true quality of the service provided based on their own "personal knowledge". I found Rev Tech right here on yelp. I took a chance on a motor I knew nothing about on craigslist that had been sitting for a long time. He came at the time that we had arranged over the phone. After about 30 min of looking it over he let me know what was needed to get her running right and gave me the truth, instead of trying to milk me for more work. My review will be contrary to the others I read. I used Rev Tech for a repair last season. A friend diagnosed my issue as a "seized engine." I felt the issue was possibly drive related. I had Rev Tech come out and they confirmed the lower unit had failed and instead of wasting money and time to have it rebuilt. They recommended an aftermarket replacement which was priced much more reasonable than a Merc version. They installed it for a fair price and got me back on the water. I was very happy with the interaction. I felt compelled to leave this review after reading the negative ones because my experience was drastically different. read more

I can't say enough good things. They truly do go the extra mile to make sure everything on your boat is covered. "Caleb" was very helpful in fixing my starter. It took awhile but glad he was able to get it installed. But then it wouldn't start. I thought great what's wrong now. Ugh. He did some further looking and turns out my batteries were dead as a door nail, absolutely nada. So I had to take a trip up to auto store and get new batteries. which he did install. Hit the key and engine started right up. He was friendly and polite through the whole process despite some obstacles. I will use you guys again in the future. read more

Their team came out to my boat and quickly addressed and fixed the problem I was having with my impeller not working properly. I appreciated their ongoing communication prior to and after their visit. Best part: The owner called me later that night and asked if I had been down to the boat to start the engine since they had done the work to make sure it was working properly... I said I had not... he told me for peace of mind I should go down and start her up just to make sure the problem was fixed and there weren't any issues after the fact... now that's follow up! My experience......excellent!! I was able to get an appointment on very short notice. Had one of their mechanics show up..on time! He took about an hour looking over my jet ski. Lucky me.... It needed a new starter. So I wait a couple days for them to come back out with the part. I wasn't too happy about. But I got to use it couple more times to go fishing....so I really couldn't complain too much. Prices were reasonable and they did a thorough job!! These guys are so easy to work with...they have gone out of their way to contact us to schedule our cleaning and after it is all set up they do a great job over communicating all stages of their work. Don't know much about 4 stroke Seadoo jet ski, so my husband and I called Rev Tech to come check them out. One wouldnt start the other ran rough. Got the skis back a week later running 100 times better. We had to replace the starter on one and the other just needed a tune up. Very happy with their work!!! read more
