He really thrived in their class. When there were concerns about his speech development, mrs marty took time out of her day to attend a meeting with a speech pathologist. As it was, speech therapy wasn't needed and his speech continued to develop while at Graham Memorial. This year he has mrs Robbins and she's been such a blessing and awesome teacher. My youngest started there this year too. He is in Mrs Miller's 2yo class. Mrs Miller is an amazingly patient and loving teacher. All the teachers have been amazing, and my kids are definitely learning more than I could teach them at home.

We moved our children from a local public school due to poor teachers, unruly students and behavior issues. The teachers met with us and our children individually. Our children were tested to see where they stand academically. We toured the school and had time with the principal. Love the Apple computer lab (iPads are on the way), and the Spanish program, as well as all the extra curricular programs offered. The first week of school, we received a rubric of our children's reading comprehension & math and a few examples of their work. This was outstanding in my opinion because you know immediately where your child stands and where they need improvement. Everything I wanted in a school for my children - good academics, friendly teachers, well-behaved children, an understanding of a higher power and limited behavioral issues!

The classes are shorter in length and give the kids the ability to practice not only their social skills but also motor skills with things like arts and crafts projects, free play, music classes, dress up and role playing. I believe they offer classes starting at age 18 months. I absolutely love it. Not only are the classes smaller in size, they offer a lot of variety in programming and the teachers are fantastic!! First, it is structured but unstructured so this really allows kids to grow to become school ready at their own pace. It is not this way at other schools. Also, we really like the fact that they provide snacks and lunch so the kids all are eating the same foods. We know our son, and if kids had items that our son wanted and didn't have them in his lunchbox, it might he a situation, so this works for us better. The teachers and Pastor John are all really kind, caring and wonderful and provide great supervision of the children. We also love the fact that there's always parking to load and unload in front. And we really love the safe playground. There's also a lot of flexibility in the number of days per week and the amount of hours per day, so this has been really wonderful for us as well. Our son is so happy every time he gets to get dropped off and loves being there - we talk about his day every day and things he did at school, so that is very cool! They are also starting a kids ballet and dance class during the school hours, so that is fun as well.

She was nurtured and loved by the staff and learned social skills and emotional health tools that will last a lifetime! I was in awe as my daughter would, at three and four years old, tell me how our behaviors impact other people's feelings, how she could make the world a better place, and how she could self-regulate by using deep breathing when she was frustrated. The staff and teachers were extremely professional and yet truly loved each of the children, as was evident from how tightly knit my daughter's little cohort became. I really can't say enough positive things about Aspen Leaf!

They both started in the EL class and my oldest, who we kept an extra year at FDL, rather than sending her to TK, is finishing up her last year. We've loved our entire FDL experience. The teachers and staff are like family. We love the play based learning and the huge outdoor play areas that encourage kids to explore. My kids have so much fun that they get upset when we pick them up early! FDL also creates a great community environment within the school and each classroom. I've been fortunate to be a room parent for both of my kids and there are many opportunities for parents to get involved in class (reading books, sharing family traditions and cultural holidays, class parties...). We've had fantastic teachers over the years. Ms. Autumn, Ms. Blanca and Ms. Sandra were perfect for the Early Learners class, so loving and nurturing with the 2 year olds. Ms. Kiara and Ms. Amber are great preschool teachers. In preschool, there are "jobs' assigned everyday and it's great to see the 3 year olds learning independence and responsibility through play. Ms. Tina, Ms. Sam, Ms. Sandy and Ms. Chelsea's Pre-K programs are fun and engaging - my oldest was reading by 4 years old. It's truly amazing. The playground has a nature lab, a garden, a "construction site," bicycle paths. The classrooms have a STEAM center, dramatic play, circle time. The kids that leave the Pre-K program are more than ready for Kindergarten...they could probably start first grade! Ms. Bev and Ms. Kira are so involved in the school's operations and truly care for each child and family. They are always open to questions and feedback and have been invaluable during this past pandemic year. While we are incredibly sad that Ms. Tina is leaving the Pre-K program, we know she will also be a great director. We love FDL and recommend the school to all parents.

In our 2 years there, we watched our son grow immensely in his confidence, relationships, and overall love of learning. He was sad to leave school every day and excited to wake up and start the day with his amazing friends and teachers. The approach and philosophy that Fleur de Lis takes truly allows each child to blossom in their own unique and beautiful way and we not only got to experience this with our son, but saw it with his classmates as well. We saw our son make presentations to his class about a science or art project he did with us at home or proudly present his show and tell Spider-man toy to his classmates - we are so grateful to the entire Fleur de Lis community for encouraging this level of self-esteem and individuality.  The staff at Fleur de Lis is truly one of a kind -  the professional, yet individualized attention of Tina Smith and April Kozelh as directors is amazing. They know your child personally and do everything in their power to make your child's experience at Fleur de Lis enriching and creative. Our son still talks about Ms. Tina coming into their classroom and reading them special books (his favorite was about an owl in NYC) and Tina consistently shared specific memories of our son's social and emotional growth during his time there. The teachers we had at Fleur de Lis (Ms. Sandy, Ms. Chelsea, Ms. Amber, Ms. Kiara and Ms. Diana for Spanish) were incredible in every way - we appreciated the attention to the holistic needs of each child - the cognitive, physical, and emotional were all given attention and we saw our son blossom in each area. The day our son "graduated" Fleur de Lis School was a bittersweet one - we were thrilled to know he was ready for kindergarten, but also so sad to say goodbye to the daily moments of this special community. Our son couldn't stop hugging his amazing teacher Ms. Sandy at the singing show - clearly showing the same emotions we felt as parents.

Public speaking is introduced in JK, and it is obvious CCDS has an effective approach when you watch how comfortable the 6th graders are on stage in front of 100s of people. I wish I had that when I was their age! The Spanish, art, and music programs are also great. I was surprised at how many public schools don't offer those extra programs and have been beyond happy with those classes that she has on a weekly (or more) basis. The field trips and class trips are also great examples of the school teaching to a well rounded child, not just a good test taker. And the uniform makes for an easy morning routine. I also love the spiritual nurture program. Our family is not Episcopalian, so I was happy to hear the approach CCDS takes with not having an intense religious curriculum. The spiritual nurture teacher is incredible with the kids and has been able to help us continue to instill the morals and values we are trying to teach at home. Although it's not free (like a public school), it's affordable compared to other private schools in SD. I also know they offer financial aid and military financial support.
