Resurrection is one of those shops where you always see something you want. Always taking the current fashion into consideration, and then adding that personal touch, the clothes here are varied and a fantastic alternative to Topshop and the like. Not satisfied with the latest fashions though, there is also a vintage/second hand corner of the shop with some fantastic bits and bobs - I managed to find a gorgeous dress with a broken zip so got it for £3 and it's a one off. Ok, my mum says it's the ugliest thing she's ever seen and if she finds a way to destroy it or rip it, she will. But then she never really understood my fashion sense and can't see why I don't want to dress like a WAG. Mothers eh?? Anyway, this is a reasonably priced fashion shop with vintage elements, the staff are friendly (and give discounts on dresses with broken zips!) and a good place to get your key wardrobe items.

At first impression, the…read moreflight of stairs does make it feel like walking up an office building but all is not what it seems as I found Slaters to be a useful shop. Having recently checked this store out, I was silently surprised to witness two fantastic floors of quality and affordable menswear with friendly, helpful and vigilant staff that look seriously ready to assist. Initially, I didn't think much of the shop from the outside and thought it would be another overly priced clothes shops. Yet, when you see the choice available, there is a suit to match every man, a tie and shirt plus a nice pair of shoes to fit the bill. Whether or not you like to spend much on clothes, the prices vary from one end of the spectrum to the other and feature many brand names to take your fancy. Overall, an excellent choice and you will be well looked after.

Before visiting we had been to innumerable high street stores: Topman, Burton, French Connection, Zara Men, yes, Primark, and the stock was scanty and the size and style range was very poor. Slater's is jam packed, almost dauntingly so, but there are knowledgeable staff on hand to help. Suits can range from £60 to over £200 or you can hire, (the formal range has been extended recently to include Asian Wear) tuxedos and dinner suits are also stocked, as is highland-wear if you're brave/ Scottish enough. While Slater's is known for it's formal wear, they also stock casual ranges: denim, knitwear, coats, polos as well as shoes and accessories. It also sells ladies-wear which is less well known- this section is quite small however and tends to be more formal: suits, shirts and coats. Slater's really look after their clients offering free alterations, personal shopping and personal appointments with disabled customers. I definitely recommend Slater's, and don't be put off by the "it's tucked away" comments, it's easily locatable just off Church Street!

I don't thin that I have ever been into Giancarlo Ricci on Bold Street - I'm not sure I will again mind. Like Cricket, this place is an expensive designer outlet for Scallies. Let's clarify this staement though, Scallies are not your chavs or what ever Southerners find on sink estates in Kent, I just mean your Scouse, urban wide boy. With a range of clothing from Barbour, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss and Lyle & Scott, the clothes range from the bland to the garish - that sounds like there's some middle ground doesn't it, hmm. If you look hard enough there are a few decent t-shirts, quite a few nice shoes and some decent trainers - I was quite taken with a couple of Paul Smith and Johan Cruyff's. But then when you finally find something you're smacked in the face with a hefty price tag! If you like spending money on good quality clothing you probably won't shop here as Flannels have a better selection of such clothing, for the rest of us - and of course that just means me - it feels over priced for standard street wear.

It is one of the more high-end shops in town that sells at expensive prices but of course you are paying for brand names and quality material. Even though there were some sales, it did not really make much of a difference in terms of high costs. Expect to find famous names such as Calvin Klein, Armani and Boss so if you're a fan of these, this shop would interest you. As I was browsing, the staff just let you get on with it. It is obviously not a place I would shop week in week out, as I am no fashion freak nor do I spend much on clothes. In this case, if you're the opposite of me and like to spend lots on clothes, I apologise! But if you're looking for a few bargains, this obviously isn't the place.

Most of the suits I'd come across are actually quite affordable when compared to other high-end shops in town, plus they were made from good quality material. Staff were also cheerful and on hand to help as soon as I entered the shop which is always useful. I'd never visited this shop prior to today as I'd always bought my formal wear in places like M&S, but here has surprised me a bit due to their excellent variety of suits at not overly expensive prices. This is definitely one of my better recent discoveries and I would recommend anyone looking for a suit or a shirt to consider Greenwoods.

Greenwoods itself feels very much like it still belongs in the 1970s but then being established back in the 1800's the last 40 years have only been a blip! Form is temporary, style is permanent is the saying I believe and if you look for anything formal, elegant and above all classic - by that I mean very traditional - then you can't really go wrong here. For a small, and as I say very old, store they do have a good selection of shirts, ties, blazers and suits. They are all reasonably priced and they cater for the, er, larger gentleman. Goes to show you that in men's clothing, what goes around comes around.
