We arrived after driving several hours from Maine to see what this part of Quebec was like. We…read moreasked the Canadian border agent for restaurant recommendations and he gave us three restaurants to try. We drove past the first two and thank goodness we did because we found La Table du Junior! The owner welcomed us (he speaks pretty good English). The restaurant is beautiful inside and out and is in a pretty part of St George, across the river from a park/botanical garden kind of thing with a fountain. Anyway, the food was amazing and there were so many options. There was a special where you got an appetizer, main, and desert for about $14 Canadian (this was for lunch). The food was beyond amazing, I wish I could go back. The value was terrific. One great part was that the kids menu which was half the price of the adult menu, had all the same options, so the children didn't have to get the standard mac and cheese or burger and fries, but instead tried smaller portions of French food. This restaurant has all kinds of cuisine, but we only tried the French food.
The owner told us the story of how his father was a restauranteur, I think in Quebec City and he opened this place. Great experience. I think there is also a gourmet grocery store and a gelatto place all part of it. This place is a must see, it made our several hours drive worth while!
