It has taken me a while to write about my experience with Resting Paws just because I am still…read moregrieving the loss of my fur baby. On November 24th 2017, my life changed when I learned that Prada had passed away. I couldn't believe it and it was so surreal. I did not deal with Prada's death too well but thank God I had Patrick from resting Paws to help me out. He was very delicate and courteous on the phone, I asked him to please help me with Prada and less than 1hour he was there to pick her little body. He comforted me and I felt somewhat better. He picked her up and gently put her in a basket that he brought and respectfully took her with him. Prada was cremated the following day early morning in Woodlawn. Patrick really made this process bearable and a little bit easier to understand, with his kind words he put me at ease. Patrick is a professional who understands the grieving process and how to help your fur baby cross the rainbow bridge. Prada was placed in a little-engraved box with a certificate of her cremation and a card from Patrick and Sabine (which made me cry when I saw it). My mom also got me a necklace with her little ashes, I always think of her (good and bad moments) but I am glad to know that in death, she was respected and cared for with lots of love. This is traumatic enough; the decision, the act and the second thoughts, and our loss. Now I had to decide what comes next. I am so thankful that my Mom handed me a card a couple of years ago, with a simple "Put it away until you need it". When I got back home with Jersey, I pulled out that card and left a message for Sabine and Patrick of Resting Paws, still unsure what I was going to do. Sabine called first thing in the morning, expressed her condolences and compassionately, but professionally outlined what options were available. From my first conversation right through our path (cremation), both Patrick and Sabine were helpful, informative and supportive (hugs included). They explained as much as we wanted to know about any aspect of their operation. We were able to leave Jersey with them, in her own bed with her blanket (which made me feel better), until her cremation. We chose to drive out Resting Paws Cemetery, a beautiful, restful country location, to say our final goodbyes to her worldly body and wait to bring her back home. Again, Patrick answered any questions we had and we could witness as much of the cremation process as we were comfortable with. Jersey was returned to us in a beautiful wooden urn, that Patrick makes himself, with a brass plate with Jersey's name and dates on it. I also received a beautiful pendant with Jersey's name on it that contains a tiny bit of her ashes sealed inside, which has become very special to me. I'm thankful that we found Sabine, Patrick owners of Resting Paws. Jersey received the respect due a loving companion, the family was treated with compassion at a stressful time and we had the comfort of knowing that she never left the area and we could see exactly what happened until we brought her back home. I am definitely handing Resting Paws business cards to my family, friends and acquaintances as telling them to "put it away until you need it".

A great SPCA! The staff is very nice and accommodating…read more You can help out and walk the dogs if you want. However, you must leave a piece of identification in order to talk them. The location isn't perfect. It's surrounded by car dealerships and lots of vehicles come and go. It's a somewhat busy street. When you go to walk dogs, it's a little hard to find a good trail. You can't play with the cats, but you can ask to see them if you wish to adopt. They usually have a variety of different little pets. (Ex. Ferrets, rats, guinea pigs)

I left my dog here last week for 9 days while we went on a trip. On the morning that I was supposed…read moreto pick him up, I received a call that something was wrong with his eye. I immediately picked him up and was shocked to see A DEEP HOLE in his right eye. It was swollen almost shut and covered in pus. I couldn't believe how bad his eye was and that no one had called us! We rushed him to the animal hospital where we were told that the cut was so deep he needed to see a specialist. He was obviously in a great deal of pain so the hospital had to give him pain killers while we waited. He had emergency surgery today which cost us $4000 and there is no guarantee he won't lose his right eye. The doctor confirmed that this had happened several days prior and had been getting worse. I am outraged that no one did anything while he was in their care. Photos taken show that his eye was obviously infected days prior and no communication was given to us or his emergency contact. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else. Even though management refunded us for his stay, the mistreatment and neglect of animals like this is not okay.

Read on My wife got everything done by email for are 2 dogs to stay here. The morning of are trip she email the dogs medical info and asked if there was anything we needed to bring or need to know before we go. We were told no and they would see us later. Being are first time there we showed up around 2 not knowing there are special drop off times. The owner was rude from the start and wanted us to pay $31.00 to drop off the dogs early and that we should no this as it's on the email. I started to asked my wife to take a look at the emails and the owner didn't let me finish my conversation with my wife when she went nuts screaming at us and getting in our face. I keep asking if I could finish my conversation but she keep freaking out saying no and telling us to pay the $31 or get out of her property. If she would have let me finish I would have said if it's on the email i have no issues paying it. We ended up leaving as her verbal harassment was to much. We later check all email correspondence and the only thing is a small signature block with the time they are open. There was nothing in regards to a early drop off fee or a fee if you show up at a deferent time. When then went to Hwy 7 pet retreat unannounced. It was not a drop off time but they were very helpful and kind and had room for our dogs. Since it was our first time there they took the time with a smile to explain how it works there. Oh ya no extra charge. One must not forget that this is a service oriented business that should be handled with poise and a smile. Thank you for reading this review.
