From the owner: Zur Namensgebung Sie…read morewerden sich sicherlich fragen wie ein italienisches Restaurant zu dem Namen "Doppeleiche" kommt. Dieser Name wurde gewählt, weil das Gebäude einerseits unter Denkmalschutz steht und sich andererseits unmittelbar an der Gedenkstätte befindet, wo im Jahre 1898 eine Doppeleiche gepflanzt wurde. Man tat dieses zur Erinnerung an den schleswig-holsteinischen Krieg von 1848. Sie wurde gepflanzt nach dem Motto "Up ewig ungedeelt". Einige Tage später wurde vor der Doppeleiche ein Feldstein mit den Jahreszahlen 1848/98 aufgestellt. Der Platz an der Doppeleiche, der in seiner ursprünglichen Form nicht mehr besteht, wurde 1960 neu angelegt, als der Berlin-Stein neben der Doppeleiche errichtet wurde. Seit ca. 1969 ist das Haus "Doppeleiche" als Restaurant bekannt. Im Jahr 1994 wurde der Betrieb von Herrn Pancrazio Durante übernommen und Kernrenoviert. Als Familienbetrieb geleitet, kam seit der Übernahme durch den Sohn Damiano Durante 2011 der Hotelbetrieb hinzu.
