Bastide du Port is a modest and cheerful boutique-y hotel about a 7-8 minute walk from the port…read more Room was clean and had a nice terrace overlooking the quite garden/parking lot. It's a rather simple 3-star place and in any other town you'd be shocked at the prices. But this is St Tropez and the euro simply doesn't go very far here at all. At €200/night, the Bastide du Port is about 1/4 - 1/3 the price of most of the resorts in St Tropez. That said, I had a few albeit minor gripes...It was a bit annoying that the bathroom didn't have a shower but instead had a tub which you had to awkwardly hold a shower head to get a decent shower. How much work would it have been to install a simple holder for the shower head so you don't have to crouch to clean yourself off? There is a beach directly across the street but it's gnarly, you're much better taking a walk towards the Pearl Beach club (5 min walk) or hop in the car and go to the beaches (Club 55, Nikki Beach) in Ramatuelle. However, if you are looking for a semi-affordable place within walking distance of the old town in St Tropez, you have few if any options. The Bastide du Port is probably one of the better choices. Note Bastide in french means a fortified town and not a bastard as my travelling companions insisted!

She suggested that maybe I was not use to a such a sophisticated taste. So rude!! When the check came they had the nerve to charge me for the dish that I didn't even eat. I went to the manager and told him the situation. He refunded me the E30.00. Such a tourist trap. Have been coming to Cannes for the last 6 years spending 3 weeks here. Never had a problem with a restaurant.

I tried most of the menu because we were with a large group and liked everything except the gazpacho. Worth the trip there, since there are a bunch of choices, I would go here again. The service was helpful and responsive -- no complaints . I'm not sure I'd stay on the beach but rather bring a suit and go for a dip after lunch. It's exactly what I expected it to be.

But as persevering as we are, we headed out on our second night and had a great meal of assorted Swiss meats and cheeses, raclette and tartiflette which is basically the best scalloped potatoes you've ever had with ham cooked in. SO GOOD. The restaurant itself is adorable. The inside is modeled after a Swiss chalet but instead of coming across as kitsch, it's very cozy and inviting. The service was great. Definitely add this restaurant to your must-do list when visiting Cannes.

This place is AMAZING! I have never been to Cannes before and luckily a coworker from London heard…read moreabout this restaurant. It's located in the old quarter of cannes, near the top of Le Suquet- which is a winding cobblestone road with loads of restaurants. I am so happy to have discovered this street because it is the perfect representation of historical France. It was so amazing to walk up and take in both the lively scene and architecture. If you can't tell by the restaurant name- this is an old school Swiss joint... Cheese heaven really! We were a group of five and all settled upon one of the set menus for 27 or 28 euros each. The majority chose the raclette (grilling cheese) menu and I opted for the fondue option. Basically everything comes out family style anyway so our table had a large platter of sliced meats, the biggest crescent moon shaped hunk of raclette cheese you've ever seen, fondue, breads, pickles, baked potatoes (that they hung from the low cave like ceilings to make more room on the table) and salad. It sounds like a lot and it was a lot! We ordered plenty of wine too which made the experience that much more authentic! It was by far one of the best meals I've had in France period - and I've been to France quite a few times. I'd definitely return on a future trip to Cannes - it's a family style eating experience out of the norm. So so good!
