When I pulled up my email confirmation we discovered I had booked that date....but for a year from now! (A bit surprised an online reservation would allow submitting a rsvp request that far in advance). Luckily for us they had one table left. A group of 44-all the remaining seats-were expected at 7 so we hustled with our ordering. We started with a charcuterie platter then all got the special, grilled white fish (which was really good). Interestingly, the fish came atop mixed fall vegetables (tasty) then in addition, they bring fries and a pasta salad plus three sauces all served family style to the table-so plenty of food. Loved the bernaise with the fries. To their credit despite the presence of the large group, we never felt neglected or ignored. It was fascinating to watch the precision of the small staff in plating and serving the group given the very small open kitchen. A truly hidden gem off the beaten track and well worth taking the train to dine here.

Honestly, I thought the Pasta Amatriciana was better than any pasta dish I've had in Italy. I don't normally make statements like that. I just love the simple sauces made from fresh crushed tomatoes. This one had cured pork cheek in the sauce. Our server did tell us, but I don't think he heard that part. I was surprised that my husband didn't notice it. I still haven't told him because I'm not sure what he would think of that. Haha! We loved it! At the end, we had our choice of dessert. I think he had the tiramisu, and I selected the apricot mango one. It was a great ending. I also have to say that the Eichhof beer was light & refreshing, as well as the pitcher of naturally infused water. It's the little things that make me happy. There is an extensive wine menu as well. The service was exceptional. Every course was proudly explained. Our server was friendly & professional. The atmosphere was amazing! The only thing you might regret is the price. But, I'm here to tell you that it's like that everywhere in Switzerland. Just get over it, and enjoy the meal. Take that advice for what it's worth. The chocolate mousse was rich, creamy and the creme balanced out the sweetness. Now, my group finished eating and decided we'd come back for lunch a few days later because the menu is never the same. We opted to do two servings of business lunch and one of the pasta so we could recreate the similar family-esque dinner style. We had a potato soup with salmon bits for lunch.
