So as there are not many reasons to visit Tonder, most guest in the hotel are pensioner. Only some younger couples come to Tonder, because is very easy for wedding. And then the Tonderhus is a good Choice, as the Hotel is direct opposite the Town Hall. You will find a friendly Staff and large rooms, in different buildings. During a raining week, with a lot of wind, all day and night we hear the Sound of wind blowing thru the room. The Bathroom with shower, is clean but not too big. Wifi working well in all areas. I was missing a hot water Maker in Room to make hot drinks. For a rate of more than 100 EUR (in Summer Season), i guess expect a little bit more. The breakfast was without hot Stuff, and as the prices for dinner seems in comparision to german prices to high. We prefer to find something for out on the german side (Border just 8-15 minutes away by car). So if you pass the border in Süderlügum, you should do a stop in the small Supermarktes near the old Border. You will find intersting food items to shop. As result, The Tonderhus is a good standard Hotel but nothing special!

There was real chocolate in it, melting in the hot milk while drinking. The coffee was good as expected. The cake was typical danish. Sweet, juicy and tasty: very good. But the best of this nice little cafe are the homely furnishings and the lovely details. Above all there is a real angel serving. She let you feel like you are not just a random guest in a cafe but her personal guest in her home. Everybody visiting Tønder should visit the Cafe Engel also.

So if you are looking for more nightlife, pay to stay in the actual Tonder city. We stayed in room 276 (I think), in the building right across from reception and upstairs. The room looked quite worn, but then the bathroom was very modern! The floors are creaky and there were many noises throughout our stay. Internet is included, but it was very spotty and hard to stay connected. This was frustrating for my husband and I since we like to stay connected. Breakfast was a more formal occasion. Sit down, with service. First they offer you yogurt with some kind of sweet topping and granola. Then usually an egg cooked with some meat or sea asparagus. Then tiered plates of cheese, hams, fruits and vegetables are served. They offer coffee and tea, juices and croissants. Doesn't look like much but its deceptively filling. Overall a nice place, especially for the more senior crowds. But not worth it for the younger group. If you are taking the train into Tonder, use the 266 or 777 Sydtrafik bus towards Hojer, earliest bus is at the train station at 6:32 am (as of my review).
