It's the closest Italian restaurant to the US Army base at Panzer, and it's very popular with the locals. Their menu runs the gamut from pizza to pasta, and includes several delicious meat and fish dishes as well. We tried to venture into town and had NO luck finding any place to park so we came back and ended up here. It wasn't a busy night. It seemed like a family-run place. The pizza was the best thing we ordered. We also got a pasta that was so-so and we ordered a meat and cheese appetizer thinking it would appease the kids, but that didn't come out until after the rest of our food. I wasn't expecting much since it was so close to post. The hubs and I went in for lunch since it was a rare occasion that it was just the two of us. I got the one pizza that had ham, mushrooms, and artichokes on it. The crust was fantastic! It was thin and crisp. The ham was flavorful. The mushrooms were fresh. The artichokes....pass next time. They were quarters so not pizza friendly. The hubs had lasagna. He really liked it but in my opinion...ehhh. They had an outdoor space so we will definitely be going to go back when it warms up. **We went back a couple days later. Make sure you tell them to make the pizza crust crispy. We walked here from Panzer (two blocks from the main gate) and it was great. We both ordered the Hawaiian pizza along with a red wine & a hefeweizen dunkel (dark wheat beer.) They have English menus and the waitress spoke pretty good English. Fun little spot with great food. read more

Walked here for dinner from Panzer for the first time yesterday. Nice patio area and the waitress brought menus in English and german. Beer is inexpensive and wine pours were very generous. Pizza was very good as others suggest. Crust was just right. Bolognase was good, nothing special but a good portion size. Will definitely return. read more

Walked here our first week on Panzer and it was a week-needed home cooked type meal. We ordered the carbonara, a fried seafood plate, the calamari, and a bottle of montepulciano on our first visit. After seeing a table locals order a plate of fried sardines, we returned a second time less than a week later and had an order of them, their four cheese pizza, their Gorgonzola gnocchi, and two bottles of Chianti. The sardines are hands down one of my favorite dishes I've eaten--EVER. When they are fresh out of the kitchen, hot and salty and a little squeeze of lemon---absolute perfection. We didn't rave too much about the pizza (only because one of the cheese, we suspected, we German bleu cheese or Gorgonzola and overpowered the pizza), but the crust and how it was cooked was fantastic. We noticed they used the same dough for their pizza as they do for the hot rolls they bring out. We will definitely be returning! read more

Beautiful evening in Boblingen, so the family walked to Monte Cassini from Panzer. Nice relaxing biergarten and lovely Italian food. No credit cards are accepted, so bring American dollars or Euro. This place is hidden in plain sight. I've driven past it several times but never saw it until I was on foot. I went with a friend and we had a great time. We had dinner and talked for hours and never felt rushed. They were busy but not crowded. This is an Italian restaurant with a German flair. I had the Pork Parmigiana which is a typical parmigiana but with a breaded pork filet (kind of like a schnitzel). Very good dish. Their prices are reasonable, their service is a little slow (by American standards, but about normal for the local speed). I'll go back! read more

This is our go to place. I don't require waitstaff to put on a fake smile or deliver food quickly- fresh food takes time!! We enjoy relaxing, sitting on their patio & having our beverages. Angy, the main waitress, speaks Romanian, Italian, Spanish, English and Deutsch; she also runs the kitchen and all the tables. English menus are available; take a photo of the menu and phone number so when you have an evening you're in a hurry, call in your order "to go". There is also a small, safe park very close, where the children can run and play while you wait. The park is located close to the parking area, through the gate and to the right. The tiny garden homes are summer weekend cottages & you can quietly & respectfully walk through to see how the locals unwind. read more

This is my favorite little restaurant. We live nearby on Panzer and frequent Monte Cassino weekly. The waitress, Angie, is the sweetest person. She is always so busy running the entire place, but she's so kind. The food is delicious. We've tried just about everything on the menu and I haven't had anything I didn't like. The pizza crust is phenomenal. Just the right amount of thinness and crispness. Service can be a bit slow when they're busy, but come knowing that and you won't be disappointed. I was hungry for a pizza one night and the staff at the hotel on Panzer Kaserne highly recommended Monte Cassino. I called and ordered what I wanted and picked it up in 10 minutes. It was very good. The crust was "crunchy" which I liked. It was thin, but did not fall over and allow the cheese and ingredients to slide off. I really appreciated that after being in Italy and eating pizza that just didn't hold up well. I only had the pizza but I will go back again for something else another time and I recommend you go there. Great service. Great prices. Excellent location. read more

Staying on Panzer for three months you tend to visit this place often. What we've found is some of the menus items such as lasagna are so-so. We never go wrong with the pizza and a cold Schönbuch beer. The owner, Dora, is from Monte Cassino, Italy. Thus the name! read more

This would be my favourite place close to home if the waitress was nice and didn't always look like she was mad about something. Every time we come here, It's the same rude conversations and rude posture. We usually wait a long time to get service and an even longer time to get her attention for the check. We've waited an hour at the longest for the check. Usually it's about 30 minutes to 40 minutes. If you'd like to receive the check faster then just stand at the counter and wait for her to come serve you. Waiting for the food is about 30 minutes. Overall, the food is 5 stars. The place is 5 stars, but the service barely should even get 1 star. I don't think we will continue to come here anymore since the waitress is always impatient and doesn't want to wait on you to even look at the menu. You usually get about 3 minutes after she gives you the menu to decide what you'd like. If you can't decide what you'd like, she'll give you the snappy look like you've had hours to decide. We had family relatives visiting and they only speak russian. Obviously we will have to translate for them and help them decide. But the waitress, only after waiting about 3 minutes after handing us the menu, looked at us and said, "Do you know what you want or not? I don't have time to stand here." I would enjoy this place more without her rude behaviour. Also, they only accept Euro. No credit or debit cards. I know Germany doesn't believe in customer service and that's not what I'd like to see (and I don't even mind that, I understand the different culture), but it doesn't hurt to smile and try to help people decide off the menu. This place has really gone downhill. I use to always go here with friends but I think tonight was my final night. They always have understaffed (which is why you see many people rate the service as slow) this place but the quality of food made up for that. I ordered the steak with fries which normally is quite good. However it came out with sea food pasta on top of it (probably because the waitress didn't write anything down) Okay not a problem say it was suppose to be with fries. They took that steak covered in pasta sauce and put fries next to it. At first I thought they were messing with me but I think this tells the level of cooking your dealing with now. There use to be a guy in the back that did all the cooking. Would come out and give out some shots and go back to cooking. To be fair the pizza is great but it's pretty hard to mess up pizza. The fact is this place is conveniently located next to base which is why it's still open. My recommendation is simple....if you must eat here then do so at your own risk. But if you have a chance to go into town then go. This is coming from someone that truly is disappointed in how this place has become. read more

We are new in town and trying out many local spots. This is close to base and our hotel so we tried. We were there on Wednesday night and the patio was full of diners both local and American. We each ordered pizza. The service was extremely slow. We picked up the menus ourselves to take a look. From sitting to receiving food was about 45 minutes. The pizza was fair at best. The vegetables were fresh but the spices were not. Dried oregano and basil. I had a better pizza two nights ago at another place in Boblingen. read more

The most unappealing part of this establishment is the outright RUDE waitstaff and customer service. I have lived in Germany 6 years, so I understand the longer than American wait times from sitting down, giving order, getting food and leaving. Got it. BUT, the waitresses outright ignore you (after 20 minutes had to get our own menu and had to wave down 10-15 mintues later just to put our drink order in...mind you there were only THREE other tables in the place), slam items on your table, roll their eyes, and huff and puff at you if heaven forbid you ask for anything other than the basic FIRST drink and your meal. Want a refill? It is like pulling teeth. Almost scared to complain about the mediocre food too. On to the food. It is MEH at best. Pizza crust is WAYYYY too salty (burnt on bottom as well) and leaves nothing to be desired. The salad I got was old and wilted and just gross. Their tortellini has no seasoning and is just BLAND. You can get MUCH better Italian a few minutes into Boblingen at La Tuscana (or as we call it Carmello's) with competitive pricing, very friendly staff and very good authentic Italian food! It is just easier for newcomers in our on base hotel to walk over so they don't have to eat food court food while waiting for housing or to leave. But, I will take public transit (to go anywhere other than this place) over crappy sub par food with horrible attitude any day of the week! If you are in a bind go, but just warning you...bad attitude and horrible customer service and less than mediocre food. read more

A surprisingly nice Italian hideout in Germany. The food was wonderful, and we just moved to the area from Italy. Pizza is Napoli style, so thicker crust than Roma. They are American-friendly, but have a nice crowd of local Germans as well. We showed up with our two young kids and felt very welcome. read more
