Very cute cafe in the middle of Zurich. It is a great place for coffee or breakfast. We went there…read moreon a Saturday morning and it got busy very quickly. The tables are small and it may not be easy to have all your food on one of them. We had eggs (over easy) and an omelet with Latte and hot chocolate. The food was great and came out at a good pace. It was a great experience.

Yelp Review 2026 #47:…read more Cafe & Conditorei 1842 is "Zürich's oldest cafe". This place is a conditorei (has a sit down area to enjoy pastries and sweet baked treats) and not a confiserie (take away truffles and candies). They claim to have the best hot chocolate and I would have to disagree. They do have good desserts to pair with their hot chocolate. The building its in has been around since 1824. The bakery opened in 1874 but the cafe didn't actually open until March 2019 so, the name is misleading. They have indoor seating and also patio seating in front or in the back. They have smoothies, milkshakes, matcha, cold brew options, sparkling wine options, ice cream, patisserie items, and brunch food. You have 6 options for their hot (or cold) non-alcoholic chocolate: classic, with marshmallows, with whipped cream, with chili flakes, with a shot of fresh ginger, with a shot of espresso; or 4 alcoholic hot (or cold) chocolate options: rum, amaretto, Bailey's or Grand Marnier. Passion Fruit Panna Cotta: Nice balance of bitter dark chocolate and tart Passionfruit. The panna cotta was creamy and soft. Dark chocolate holding everything together. I love Passionfruit and chocolate combo. 4.5/5 Chocolate Mousse: You can't go wrong with anything chocolate in Switzerland. This has white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and cocoa nibs at the bottom. Great creamy texture. Pillowy like marshmallow. 4/5 The Classic Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream: Underwhelming. I've had better hot chocolate somewhere else in Zürich. It's a step up from Swiss Miss. 2.5/5 The Classic Cold Chocolate with Whipped Cream: The same as what was mentioned above but the cold version which is lukewarm. 2.5/5 Service was good though.

Our first stop once we landed in Zurich on our 1 week Switzerland trip. The restaurant is…read morerelatively small and when we came around 9 am on a Friday, it was pretty full so we opted to sit at the bar countertop. My brother got a bacon omelette which he was not particularly impressed with and said he could make the same quality at home. I got the hangover brekkie which consisted of a pile of potato wedges smothered in cheese, a fried egg, 2 slices of bacon, a sausage, and herb cream cheese. This.... was so incredibly heavy - I love potatoes but couldn't only eat half of it. Part of it is because the chef puts the entire plate into like the microwave/oven once everything is plated so the cheese hardens too quickly and the potato wedges were mouth burning hot the entire meal. Even 15 min in, I was burning my mouth on them. The sausage also had an unusual texture and taste to it, I guess I'm used to American sausages but it just did not fit my palette. Also cream cheese is a strange pairing with this dish, something like ranch would have been better. The only redeeming quality was the bacon was perfectly crisp. The cappuccino Dihei was just the boost of caffeine I needed but when I read orange zest as part of the ingredients, I was expecting like finely grated orange, not a thick slice of orange peel hanging off of the cup.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I got my first Bircher muesli here and it was amazing.... The cafe is cute and small and we ate on the patio. The prices were fairly reasonable for what we got.

My boyfriend and I were in Zurich for Easter weekend and were on the hunt for a great coffee shop…read morewith an awesome vibe. We were lucky enough to find a place that was open over the holiday weekend, and even luckier that this is the place we found! The owners of this cafe (I'm sorry I didn't get their names) are so sweet, friendly, and genuinely care about their customers and the products they are serving. On our first visit, we ordered a single shot of espresso, and it came with a delicious macaron. They told us where they buy their macarons, and explained that it came from a nearby bakery that only uses Swiss-local ingredients in their products. The espresso and the macaron were both absolutely delicious! The next day we were again on the hunt for coffee and immediately went back to this cafe, rather than taking a chance and finding something we didn't like. The owners remembered us from the day before, and were interested in hearing how our trip was going so far, and what else we had planned. We made the same order as the day before, and they told us today's espresso was different from the day before. Today's espresso was Kenyan, and the day before had been Latin American. Maybe I got that backwards, but either way, we enjoyed listening to the description of the different tasting notes between the two roasts. We also shared a beer, which of course was a Zurich-local brew. The vibe at this cafe is very fun and relaxing. It is located inside Seven Friday, as it is a pop-up cafe. They also serve Pho and Bahn Mi but we did not try that.
