Been in business for seven years so far, Mai Mai provides the town of Bobingen with some Vietnamese flair. The menu has been heavily adapted to local tastes, but still maintains a certain authenticity that makes their food stand out in this Bavarian town.
Though my family had prior dinner plans, the owners were so friendly and welcoming; we had to check them out. Decorated in a chic, Asian-fusion style -- red overtones and natural themes made the space into a very relaxing environment.
We ordered the banh xeo (a Vietnamese-style crepe), pho tai (beef noodle soup), and mi don (pan-fried noodles with seafood, beef, and veggies). The banh xeo was really good; absolutely stuffed with veggies, pork, and shrimp. They also provided ample lettuce and other additional veggies to eat with it. The pan-fried noodles were the best; crispy noodles with rich flavors in the seafood and sauce. It was my favorite. The pho was actually pretty disappointing. It was made well --the broth was made with actual beef bones, the noodles had a good consistency, and there was a decent amount -- but the flavor was just a little weak. They also didnt have any other kinds of pho meats either...
My favorite part was actually the drink menu though. With both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, there's a wide variety of specialty drinks. The alcoholic ones are definitely worth their weight in spirits -- super strong! read more
