I'm becoming quite the aficionado of Bavarian food and had heard that I must try Kaiserschmarrn, a…read moredessert that was explained to me as being shredded pancakes with applesauce and raisins. Well, not one to ignore a new dish to try, I checked every restaurant in the area and decided the best ones would be here (or so I'd hoped).
As a singleton, I got seated with a table that included a couple from Swabian area and a local gent that spends half his year in Spain. It was nice to have people to chat with and they were very patient with my German (as most Germans are).
I ordered the Wiener schnitzel and an Augustin Dunkel to start. The beer was very good and the massive fresh schnitzel was equally so. I wasn't sure I'd have room for dessert, but as I was on a mission that I could not fail...
I ordered the small potion of Kaiserschmarrn. It was still quite generous and it's times like these another dining partner would be helpful.
They were little fluffy pillows of pancake, lightly dusted with powdered sugar with plump raisins in and around each pillow. There was a small dessert glad of homemade applesauce that was so thick. It reminded me of a good apple butter. There were also some pecans livers on the plate and in the applesauce..
I was very full and happily satisfied by the end of the meal. Service was excellent and swift.
This is definitely one of the more traditional restaurants that you'll find here in the area and I highly recommend a meal here or at least, dessert.
