We had a very nice lunch and some decent wine when we visited for the first time. We've since been back for drinks only and the team are very friendly and chatty. I have got to say, I'm a huge, huge foodie. We have dined at many many French restaurants, and I…read morehad very high expectations for Lyon, being the capital of French cuisine. Many restaurants have disappointed greatly, but this one was top-notch. From the level of service, to the quality of the food everything was just superb! Huge, thanks to our waitress who called the owner for permission to take a bottle of wine off the wall just for us - that definitely added to our incredible experience!

"Are you American?" I was shocked to hear yesterday... I guess my North Face hat and coat were a…read moredead giveaway. I ran into several Americans waiting outside La Traboulerie. The wait was over 30 minutes, but this was the Lyon Lights Festival and waiting was anticipated. With my new American friends, I had a delicious late-lunch at La Traboulerie. I had warm goat cheese toasts on a salad and "saucisson chaud" with a beaujolaise sauce. We also split a bottle of Beaujolais wine - dejeundinner (dejeuner + diner franglais) came to 18euros each. La Traboulerie serves standard Lyonnaise fare, which is traditionally tres heavy and hearty. Definitely skip the funicular and walk up to St. Just!

We were just strolling about Lyons and decided on this place as it had croque monsieur on the menu…read more It was actually an appetizer, and as such, was not as thick and dense if it were the main entree. We sat outside in the bustling sidewalk. I believe lunch started at noon and ended at 2pm. We got in with some time to spare! I got the entrecôte with pommes de terre... oh my goodness! It was truly delectable. The steak was tasty, especially with all that butter sauce lopped on top of it. I used a piece of bread to sop it all up. Hopefully my gout doesn't flare up ‍ The plat du jour came with a dessert of lemon mouse. It was good--but wished it were ice cream since it was a pretty warm and sunny day. We also got a carafe of rose to share. All in all, everything was about 50 euros! That is pretty darn good as the same in the States could easily be double.

Restaurant is located on a pretty busy touristy street with a ton of restaurants, but we picked…read morethis one since we wanted to check out traditional Lyonnais cuisine. We both chose from the prix fixe menu. For my meal, I chose the Menu d'Emile (27 Euros) which is a great deal for the amount of food I was given. For the starter, I had the Salad Lyonnais and for my main I had the Quenelles. Both were pretty good but way way too salty and I love salt! The salad was also as big as an entree so by the time I got to my main course, I could only eat about half. My husband had a fish type terrine that was too fishy for me and the Chabert plate which included a bunch of blood sausages for his main. The cheese course reminded me of tzatziki. By the time we got to the dessert, we had to share and didn't finish of course. Next time I would prob. skip the prix fixe given the portions sizes and just pick an entree.

Recommended by friends we went to this lovely restaurant with high expectations. While the…read moreatmosphere is very warm and welcoming, the dishes were disappointing. For instance, the first dish a "pate chasseur" showed its lack of freshness, or maybe had stayed too long in the fridge. The following dish, a fish, had been taken over by the combination of leeks and mussels in what could have been a simple and tasty dish. Fortunately, the dessert was more than average. The plus, as mentioned above, is the service. It is slow, according to some, but the host takes good care of its customers. Despite these comments, I would give it another chance.
