What I liked about this particular Restaurant Depot location is that it was significantly less busy than other Restaurant Depot locations that I have been to. It is in a industrial part of Jacksonville and I had passed by a countless times going to visit a few particular clients. Today I stopped in and found the staff friendly and very little lines. If you know anything about Restaurant Depot, I have found that the lines at the location in Orlando can get rather crazy. Here, there really were no lines. I would definitely recommend a visit to this particular location of Restaurant Depot.

The hot dog tasted better than I remembered, however: excellent. Therefore I still recommend the hot dog and will get it again. The pizza slice was better than I remembered: really good, with a nice greasy taste. We got cheese pizza this time. I'd also get this again. Those two with a soda came to $3.75, and they're large (plenty for a meal for the two of us), so it was a remarkable value. I love Costco, but as a store it's fallen behind in technology. At Walmart I can see what aisle any item is in, and whether it's in stock. At their warehouse club, Sam's, I can scan my own items and walk out without wasting time checking out. Also, Costco is too crowded on the Sundays we get there.

Gordon's is similar but weaker by my opinion in some regards. However, it does have strengths which make it worth a visit. For non-restaurant folks, the biggest draw likely will be the frozen food section which includes a vast variety of frozen seafood and meat to cook and also ready-prepared dishes ranging from mashed taters to whole cakes. Remember, this is restaurant supply, so whole cakes and cheesecakes (which when sliced likely are passed off at many a restaurant as "our chef's own creation" by drizzling some caramel sauce across them). For those who don't know, cheesecakes especially freeze *just fine* and thaw out *just fine* and a frozen one of quality can be just as good as a made-from-scratch one. There were frozen dishes like stuffed bell peppers which interested me but again, restaurant portions so I didn't need like a flat of 20 stuffed peppers and didn't buy them. If I had a half-empty chest freezer and less restraint however I'd easily have scooped up all kinds of stuff like this. Some items are name brands, some their own Gordon brand, some brands I'd not heard of but may be big in food service--I don't know. Beyond the frozen goods, they have things like large quanities of BBQ sauce, tomato paste, and pasta--again, aimed at restaurants. They also have a lot of Monin coffee syrups which is very cool though their prices are a few dollars more than TJ Maxx but the catch is, you never know which Monin syrups any given TJ Maxx will have any given day but here their stock seems stable. While they have all manner of disposable catering goods (foil trays, plastic to-go boxes) they don't have much if any durable table service like restaurant glasses and cups. Nor any kitchen knives it seems. The store in Charleston I mentioned had a great selection of these things so that was disappointing. Service was fine. I didn't need help, my friend has shopped here before and guided me around. The lady at check-out was friendly enough. I'd recommend visiting Gordon's and seeing what they have: look carefully, *a lot* is packed in there, especially the frozen section. If you have a large family and a chest freezer (or two or three) you probably can play your cards right and really save money here.

This whole scenario was extensive with trying to reach the proper channels to finally resolve…read more"part" of the issue of them acknowledging that I was owed for 2 days of work. However the only way I'll get paid out according to them is BS which is still in the works. My job was working at the commissary on MacDill AFB in South Tampa, FL. This work was basic pulling from warehouse and stocking/shelving merchandise, food, produce etc. A family member of mine works within the same organization, but a different vendor all together. I ended up working for Acosta or PrimeTeam or both? That's still unclear? But needless to say I worked there a total of 2 days. My sister told another vendor within the commissary I was looking for immediate work once I arrived in Florida. That vendor contacted me by text, and then emailed me a letter basically stating my job duties and a ready to start date once I made it there. So I made it to Florida; I was at the store with my sister and the vendor person I would be working with. She explained and showed me what was needed. I started work right then and there. The following day the vendors mom (who works there too) showed me a few more things and that I would be her go-to person moving forward. The mom also stated something about her supervisor would be in touch with me to set up a time to meet and discuss me having my own account. The next day I didn't hear back so I called the vendors mom; she stated that I should have been in the store by a certain time. But that part was never official. There was much confusion on this matter. But even though I missed my time slot to see her supervisor/land this account; I did also mention to her that my sister and I would like to be on her work schedule (one vehicle). They assured me I completely make my own hours and I could basically come and go as I please. So I lost this account somehow, and went to work later that day, as it's on the same schedule as my sisters'. The next day I was advised that my services were no longer needed and that as far as payment is concerned, I needed to discuss that part with their supervisor. I called; he didn't call me back. I tried again and we spoke for a few minutes. He said that I wasn't on their file. And according to him my first day of working there was on a trial-by-basis only. And the second day he wasn't even sure why I was there to work at all. He told me I initially wasn't going to be paid for my 2 days. It took me getting ahold of their HQ (Acosta Inc.) before he acknowledged I was indeed owed for those 2 days of work. The lady at the HQ acknowledged that see would email and get to the bottom of what happened. She was able to approve me being paid for my 2 days of work. And all was good on that up until the supervisor stated I have to fill out a PrimeTeam New Hire Contract Form(s) first."Who's PrimeTeam!? There's pages of stuff for me to fill out; DL/SS card (which they had a photo copy already). But this packet had to be filled out 1st in order for them to pay me out. I SHOULD NOT have to fill out A New Employee contract packet first! When that's not even the case any longer. They owe me $60 bucks.

Can't forget to mention his "excuse of an Administrative Assistant", C. Connors in the Jacksonville FL office. She gossiped right along with everyone especially over the phone with managers. There was no sound proofing in that office so many people heard their conversations on speaker phones. Hey Ramin get an updated profile picture. The current one has to be at least 20+ years old. Imagine a CMO telling a manager that he avoided several staff members because they said Good Morning or Goodnight too often? He would actually go around the front reception desk and sneak in so he wouldn't have to say hello to certain people. Pathetic excuse of a person. All managers rude, disrespectful and power hungry. Stay away from this company unless you want to be the brunt of their childish gossipy behavior.

I hope our local Costco gets gas soon (they're trying to, if the government will let them). Sam's has their wonderful scan and go, so you don't have to wait in a checkout line. The crowds and wait to checkout are perhaps the greatest weakness of Costco. Sam's also has curbside pickup, which Costco doesn't. Unlike Walmart, Sam's app doesn't show you what aisle something is an, and whether it's in stock (Costco doesn't either). The only food I've had at Sam's was the pizza. It was decent, but too bready. We prefer Costco's, and Costco's larger pizza costs less per area. It's always quick eating at Costco's cafe, but at Sam's there was a line. I ordered a slice of pizza in the app and went to the pickup area. I noticed the app said they were preparing it, so I went to sit. But they got slices for people in the line, but not me, so I finally went up to the pickup counter and eventually someone took notice of me and got my order. So Costco wins hands down for speed and ease of cafe orders. I just like Costco more. It's definitely more upscale. I think the lighting is better: I just find Sam's a bit depressing. Sam's is undoubtedly cheaper on the whole. Costco has a better reputation for the quality of things like their bakery and meats. I'm not sure if I'll continue my Sam's membership.
