A wonderful meal. We had a multi-course meal here that included some of the best food we had during our entire trip to Europe. Wonderful soup and appetizer, and a baked cod dish that was done to perfection. The wines were great too. read more

Over the course of two months, I think I came to this restaurant about five times. It might be my…read morefavorite in Groningen. There are three floors. When you make the reservation (and you really should make a reservation), you choose where you want to dine. The menu also differs, depending on where you sit. On the ground floor, that's the restaurant. I've dined there the most. I love trying their cocktails and their bitterballen aren't that bad. You almost can't go wrong with the dish that you choose; they also change and rotate so it might already be a different menu. I sat upstairs once. It was a small plates sharing menu with more cocktails to try! In other words, it was a more extensive cocktail menu. Every time I've been the food and the cocktails have been excellent. They also have beer in case you just want to do that. The decor is fun and quirky with an Indiana Jones/Jungle Cruise flavor. I would highly recommend getting a reservation if you're in Groningen.

The Singha beer is from the bottle. The won ton soup was standard. The shrimp dumplings (ha kow) were also standard. The item labeled as spring rolls were triangular but still good. The ambiance in the restaurant is pleasant and there were a good amount of customers there on a weeknight. I would come back to try their larger menu items.

I happened upon this restaurant while taking a stroll to find something different. I have always…read morewanted to try Thai food, but simply never had. I often thought the food might be too spicy. As apart of my study abroad experience I have decided to try new things. I am so happy that I did. This is a fabulous restaurant, small yet chic. I would have to say this restaurant would be perfect for date night. The dining area is large with elegant lighting and decor. Floor to ceiling windows gives this restaurant a New York City vibe, so I would say it doubles as a nice spot for people watching. The food was fantastic. As this was my first time I decided to go small. I ordered Piek Kai (marinated chicken wings), and Tom Yum Kai (a Thai version of chicken soup). These items were flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Neither over cooked nor under cooked, the chicken was crispy and delicious. I also feel the prices were very reasonable. My order came to 12,20 euros. Not bad at all for a soup and an appetizer. I would have given this restaurant five stars had I not have had to pay for a to go bag. Evidently this is a running theme in the Netherlands; one is charged for a bag in a number of stores. I would advise bringing your own bag if taking food to go.

An appetizer, a soup, and a bag to take it home in. Yes, one is charged for a bag in the Netherlands, or bring your own.
Quite an extensive menu. Prices vary up to 35 euros.

Reader, Giethoorn in the summer months is hot mess nightmare that I would actually recommend skipping. As for this eatery, the outdoor seating is nice and if you have to kill three hours before your tour departs back to Amsterdam, this is a good place to do it since everything takes forever. My burger was just okay - really mealy bun and served with a strange corn salad, but the fries were (shocker!) quite good. Most of the fries I had on this vaca were good, though. The Netherlands knows how to fry a potato. Anyways it's also unclear if you should order via QR code or wait for one of the children who works here to come serve you. No one will come up to you or give you a menu or explain anything so I recommend just sort of giving in to the whole experience. You will pay double for the pleasure! Enjoy (or skip).

Then we waited 15 minutes for the drink order she took. Apparently it never was put in and we had to grab another waitress to get drinks. Really good burger, the cheese was delicious, bread was crunchy and tasty
