Let me preface this review by mentioning I don't like to give a restaurants first rating a negative…read moreone as I realize and respect it's someone's livelihood. However I want to be honest. Having a hankering for some Asian noodles and wanting to try something different I though I'd give this place a chance. In Terrebonne there appears to be a decent selection of Asian food restaurants however most of it to me is Quebec Asian stir fry. What is this creation you may ask? All of these dishes such as lemongrass beef, general tao chicken, chicken thai basil, ginger beef and red and yellow curries can be found on most Quebec Asian stir fry restaurants with some differentiation from place to place but mostly they taste very similar. My preference is for more authentic Asian cuisine however many Quebeckers have taken to this type of Asian food. So restaurants copy the menus from other restaurants and you have seen this proliferate. On my first order I ordered a Pad Thai chicken plus a soup tonkonise (pho). Pad thai was of no resemblance to pad thai other than the correct style rice noodles used. It really was a stir fry with grilled chicken and a wide assortment of vegetables. It even had cucumber and fresh tomato. Flavour was okay nothing memorable, The soup had noodles, some cilantro but was in a very salty broth with well done beef. The broth had decent flavour but seemed over salted or with some MSG. I asked the owners where they were from and they mentioned Just north of Saigon. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and seemed fairly busy for a Thursday night. They do have 1/2 price your second entree on Monday and Tuesday which must be their slower nights. Price wise for my two dishes was just over $25 which is inexpensive. I may come back and try something else we shall see how adventurous I feel.

The Long Version: My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our most recent trip to Laval. They have a lunch combo for $12.50 for the banh mi of the day, a spring roll and a drink (bottle of water or a can of soda). You can upgrade your drink to a bubble tea for an additional $5. It was a Friday, so the banh mi of the day was the Traditional, which is essentially mixed cold cuts. We got a combo each. My husband got a bottle of water and I upgraded my drink to a bubble che (more on that later). You get a choice of a chicken spring roll or a vegetarian spring roll. We both chose the former. They bake their bread on-site and the bread is a legit banh mi baguette crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The banh mi was good, but the pork belly was sooooo fatty. I know some people like this, but I do not. I had to pick it out. It comes with different Vietnamese cold cuts including the one that is made of pork belly, pickled carrots, daikon radish and cucumbers as well as pâté, Vietnamese mayo (which is more like an aioli) and cilantro. We asked them to hold the cilantro, but they forgot. Not a big deal for us because it was easy to pick out. Just wastage on their part. Other than the fatty pork belly, I enjoyed the sandwich. The spring roll was hot and crispy and had ground chicken and vegetables in it. We chose sweet and sour dipping sauce, but there's the option for fish sauce as well. The bubble che is like a cross between bubble tea and the Vietnamese dessert che. It was chock-full of toppings which I loved. It had tapioca pearls, coconut jelly, grass jelly, red beans and toasted peanuts and coconut milk. It was really rich with a lot of different textures. I felt the amount of peanuts was excessive for my tastes and the crunchiness was bordering on weird. However, the toasted peanuts added this toasty smell to the drink which I oddly liked. I might request less peanuts next time. Definitely a drink for those already familiar with Vietnamese che or for the adventurous. I can see how it would not be to everyone's taste. Staff were courteous. There was a bit of a wait because they were very busy with orders, including lots of food delivery app orders. Sandwich makers wore gloves, which I appreciated. They also sell vermicelli or rice bowls and noodle soups. They have a small selection of imported Asian snacks, candies, ramen packages and bubble tea ingredients. They have an area to eat-in too. They are located in a small plaza and there is free parking in the plaza parking lot. Review #91 (2025)

What a privilege to be able to enjoy well prepared Vietnamese food served in large portions. The pork served with both #49 and 58 were both juicy, tender, well- seasoned with great depth of flavor and texture. We also enjoyed the 3 bean drink. Reminds me of the Filipino halo- halo. We're planning to return tomorrow to enjoy Pho Anh Vu's other offerings. Stay tuned for updates. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

My family made reservations for noon on a Saturday and thankfully so, because the line was out the door upon arrival. We ordered a pho dac biet (#15) and bun bo hue dac biet (#24) . Come hungry, because their large bowls are massive! Their pho was so nourishing and comforting on a rainy day. Each bowl loaded with a hefty serving of meat, tendon and tripe. The herbs were incredibly fresh and even came with culantro! But the star of this meal had to be the bun bo hue; I haven't had such an amazing bun bo hue from a restaurant in a long time. The broth was beefy and loaded with tender pieces of meat, but also finally had enough of the lemongrass essence I crave for in bbh. It packed just the right amount of heat without it being overpowering or mouth-numbing. I practically licked the bowl clean at the end of the meal. My family was ecstatic to have found another spot that hits close to home for them. Flavors are impeccable and portion sizes are very generous. We already decided that we will be regulars. You'll catch us here very often!
