Room is clean and spacious but more important that it's well-ventilated with cool air in this unusually hot weather in Switzerland in late September! No skiing during this visit... Hotel is a couple minutes from the train station, which I took from Zurich as my hubby flew back solo to the U.S. I decided to stay over the weekend to meet up with a friend in Bern and she and I will meet up with my college friend tomorrow... Bed was a king but could be separated into two twins which we need and got. bathroom was clean and has nice aesthetics! Room has a small beverage fridge, coffee pot, and hotel sleepers, yay! Great option while in Bern! Lots of restaurants and shops surrounding the area as well made this hotel the most convenient, and welcoming staff was bonus! 4.5 rounding to 5 for great customer service and special accommodations!!!

The friendly staff helped in so many ways--they gave us a great tourist map, stowed away our luggage after check out so that we could see the city unhindered. Gave us advice on tourist spots to go to. Best of all--the hotel is literally 1.5 blocks from the train station. You literally walk down a pedestrian only street and take an escalator down one floor to the indoor train station (Bern's mall-like gathering spot with restaurants and stores). What could be more convenient than that? Truly an awesome place to stay!

The hotel and room was very clean and housekeeping took good care of the room during our stay. We had a spa date and enjoyed this service greatly after a long day of hiking. The location is very central and everything is easily accessible. The hotel provides services of picking and dropping from the train station. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. Breakfast was included in our reservations and they have nice buffet style breakfast with lots of great options . The swimming pool is nice to enjoy as a family. They also have a kids play area. Loved their outdoor patio with the beautiful views. I am taking two stars off because the housekeeping never took the towels that I kept on the floor to be taken away and replaced. Instead of replacing the towels that were on the shower floor, they folded the wet towels and put them back for us to use instead of giving us new ones. Also, their hotel restaurant adlerstube - has really bad service. The blond lady is extremely rude, they kept us waiting to order for a really long time. Finally food arrived and it was really good but again no one came to check if we needed anything. Also the check never arrived , finally waiting for a good 20 minutes I went up to ask to pay. Food was good but because of the service it ruins the whole experience . The hotel needs to be mindful of this and make sure they are looking into it.

The staff are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the views are spectacular, the service is top-notch, and the dining is delicious. I got a corner room on the top floor with two balconies and a window that overlooked further up the mountain. I had the delight on seeing some cows out there on my first morning. I utilized the pool everyday, got a massage at the spa on my second day, and ate at the restaurant onsite everyday for breakfast and dinner. I recommend all of it! It can get chilly out on the terrace, even in summer, so they have thick fur coats at your disposal for when you want to sit outside. There is a smoking/cigar room inside and ability to smoke outside on the terrace. The staff will also bring anything to you anywhere onsite if you just call and ask. They have elevated plastic ware available for poolside dining. Overall, highly recommend!!

The rooms were well appointed but I wish they had been a little more cozy and a little less corporate. At breakfast the first morning, my friend and I both ordered the overnight oats. When the dish came we both assumed it was an amuse bouche because the portion size was hilariously small. Like shot glass size. I still giggle when I think about it. It turns out that all the breakfast portions are small because you can order an unlimited amount of dishes and they don't like food waste. While I can certainly appreciate that, it would have been nice if our server had explained that when we placed our order. We were better prepared the next morning. The food overall in Switzerland was just not my favorite. It was good but under seasoned for my taste. My favorite dishes at dinner were probably the carrot coconut soup and the summer salad. The large pool at Villa Honegg is certainly the star of the show. It's heated and open until 11pm and we spent as much time there as we could. The one downside about this hotel is that it is a 20-30 minute drive into down for any activities or reservations at other hotels. It is worth it for the view but know that you need to make plans well in advance for offsite activities.

This is my review from a stay July, 2009. I enjoyed my visit so much that I am adding it here…read more We stayed at some of the best hotels in Switzerland during our 3 weeks travel here, but this was the best. The whole hotel staff led by Daniel Zeigler know you by name and room almost immediately after you arrive. The Hotel is located on the smallest of three lakes in the area with views from many rooms. My parents room was very large and faced the lake. My room was large and faced the trees. Each room had a large deck and each is beautifully decorated in a unique style. The breakfast buffet was great with plenty of fresh fruit, breads, yogurts, muesli, smoked salmon, meats, cheeses, eggs. Everything is delicious. There are a number of beautiful dining rooms and dining terraces at the hotel and meals are served at different dining locations depending on the meal and day of the week. We had dinner and lunch here a number of days and all meals were excellent. This hotel is really a resort... you can sit outside on chaise lounges, sun bathe and just watch the lake and surrounding countryside or you can go swimming in the clear lake. The hotel has Kayaks at no charge that you can use on the lake. There are also bikes and helmets available free to the guests. I took a number of bike trips. The first day I took a ride around the lake. Since this lake is not that large, the average rider or family can ride around the lake. ( If you can't make it around the lake, there are boats at various places that will bring you back.) The roads and bike paths around the lake are mostly flat and the total distance around I think was about 12 miles. The second day I took a trip up Mount Vully on the other side of the lake past vineyards and farms. There is an historic fort on the top and from there you get a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and the lakes. On the third day I took a ride on the Mittlelland bike path to Estavayer-le-lac, another historic town like Murten about 20 miles away. This town is less commercial than Murten and has some great architecture. The staff is so attentive without being at all overbearing. My mom had injured her foot (elsewhere). The hotel suggested a local doctor and drove her there where she got prompt excellent care. The hotel also has a free DVD library, book library and free internet for guests to use.
