FOOD & DRINKS The one thing I always get at a Greek diner is…read morethe gyro. I ordered the open faced pita style where the meat sits on top of a fried pita bread with tzatziki, tomato, pickled jalapenos, onions and coleslaw. Unfortunately right off the bat I had a tiny hair in my coleslaw. I am not a person who easily gets disgusted by that but it doesn't make it good, right? I had a few larger pieces of meat and a lot of small bits which were less enjoyable. Those small bits are meat crumbs from the bottom of the spit that were just leftovers from previous servings. The meat itself was still tender but most of the few larger pieces were already black and burned. I like crispy pieces but not when they are black. But what put me off the most was the balance between the tzatziki, coleslaw and meat. The meat was buried in coleslaw and drenched in the pool of tzatziki. While each ingredient was fine on its own, the ratio wasn't. The meat had no chance to shine on its own. The tomatoes tasted a bit weird like if they were old. SERVICE What makes a family run diner is the warmth of the people who work there. The food can be ok but if the heart is with the customer, everything gets better. Unfortunately I only had a glimpse of that at the end when I met the owner at the counter to pay for my food. I really wish I had met the owner when I waltz into this place. ATMOSPHERE When I came I didn't felt welcome at all. Close to the counter there were some older men who were just sitting there to drink alcohol. Then there was a family who had a kid running around all the time. I really love kids and I didn't mind it but it can be pretty disturbing for others who just want to enjoy their meal. For a small Greek diner it was pleasantly well decorated. It didn't felt too outdated. RATING The rating is the sum of the whole experience. I am torn weither I should give this place another shot or not. I feel like it could be so much better but unfortunately didn't met any of my standards for a family run diner.
