I found the people welcoming, I was there from 6:30-8 on a drizzling Tuesday. Tables about half full and filling up over the hour and a half I was there. The menu seemed really fresh and seems to change weekly (I don't read Czech, but google translate helped). I had a very properly cooked steak with mashed potatoes in a Jameson sauce. I wanted to buy all the chefs a beer because the steak was so good (and I'm from the Midwest of the USA. And the beer... Oh the beer was great. No English menus that I know of. I didn't ask. But the other options I remember were a single seafood ravioli, a starter of roasted apples with star-anise, risotto with prosecco and pecorino sauce, there was also a salmon filet, goulash w potato dumplings, slow cooked veal osso-bucco, and an ice cream dessert offering. Anyway, I say go. Get away from the places on the square and come here. I don't think they take credit cards... Not sure... I paid cash.

As you can see in the photos, it was very empty when we arrived, which was good. (We attempted a second visit later that week on a Saturday and we were turned away so be sure to make reservations on the weekend.) We had a few pints of beer and an order of the fried cheese and schnitzel, both very good. Fries were not very good but the butter potatoes (emphasis on the butter) were quite good though too filling since I focused on the slab of meat first. Outside, you have a nice view of people walking along and a Subway across the alley which is comical and unappetizing. Service was fast and efficient. Having come from Orange County, I understood that my gauge of "friendly service" had to be adjusted when in Czech, sort of like when you go to any Chinese restaurant anywhere in the world, including China. Bathrooms are clean. Dining area is very well-lit and attractive. Bar area seating is comforting. Menus available in English. Being my first time in Czech Republic and having a focus on beer and fried food, I was happy to make my way to Puor Zlin. I asked if I could be a tourist and take home a coaster. The bartender was kind enough to give me a stack of new ones from the back. One of our servers, a young girl, turned up at Budvarka down the street later that week when we attempted to dine at Puor Zlin on that busy Saturday night. She was consistently attentive both times. Both the server and bartender noticed that I spoke English and my friend spoke Czech, so when they came to our table, they spoke English to me and Czech to him which was nice. Is the food special? I'm not sure if I'm qualified to answer that question, but my friend who was born and raised in Czech most of his life said it was good and if anything, accurate. That said, I enjoyed the food and the service so take that for what it's worth. Point on Service: Culturally, it's rude to talk when you eat so be aware that they will leave you alone while you're eating. Don't misinterpret this as poor service. Point on Tipping: I understand that Czech is not a tipping country but things are changing so you won't insult anyone by leaving a modest tip, but 20% might not be necessary.

All guests were elderly people, and it was an important celebration night for them. Upon arrival they were seated at their table and were served menu cards. After about 15 minutes the waitress came back, and asked them (with no apology) to move to a smaller and higher barstool table. As it would be a great inconvenience for them to try to sit at the high chairs (all guests were around 65+) they politely asked if there is any other seating option. The waitress talked to her manager and quickly came back with no resolution to this uncomfortable situation - just an explanation that "other people had a reservation as well, and they really cared for this particular table." It was all happening in front of other restaurant guests and the situation was getting awkward. My mother with her guests decided to leave and try to save the evening. They left feeling mistreated and with a bitter taste after this experience.
