First time here, the soup was great, but the main dish was too salty. I ordered with my friends rice with tomato sauce, but we got dumplings instead of rice. The other friends had great fried fish. read more

Traditional Czech food that was half price of the restaurants in old town. I'd say they had the best goulash soup that we have eaten, which was a huge portion. The broth was very thick and filled with meat, not just broth, with big chunks of potatoes and carrots. The pork knuckle could be on or off the bone, it was like 2 servings. It came with white and purple sauerkraut and chives dumplings. I had the goulash, which was a hint of spicy with the paprika and onions. The dumplings (4) sopped up the rest of the gravy. Beers were also cheaper. Give it a go!

It was also the only restaurant that didn't seem like a tourist trap and was enjoyed by locals on a tight lunch schedule. It's also located farther away from the tourist stuff. Every place will serve pork knee but their "beer knee" is really the softest and has a nice smokey crunch to it. Their potatoes actually have flavor. The Prague ham is my personal favorite. Like, it comes with foam?? (Horseradish) What an interesting combo! I came here to leave a 5-star for food but then upon research realized that their mandatory 10% service charge was a new add. I thought it was a credit card charge, but it is actually for cash too and they DON'T add it to your receipt when you ask for the check. The cashier didn't even bother to give me the 24CZK change. I was willing to overlook this but knowing that others had a similar experience, I feel that's a point off service.

When you walk in, you're given a paper slip for your order. First thing in line is soups. If you want one, you order and hand over your ticket so they can mark your order on it. Keep your ticket on you and you pay at a booth when you leave. I ordered a small borscht (all of the soups come in half and full sizes) and a pork dish with sauerkraut and dumplings. The borscht was unlike any I've had before; it was tasty but I wouldn't get it again. The pork dish however was excellent. The sauerkraut was fabulous - best I've had in my life. The pork was a little too fatty in pieces but had a really nice flavor. The place is super clean and the bathrooms were adequate especially considering how busy it was around lunchtime.
