I send other reviews here re Joanna Fahey. I made it through 3 meetings with her and couldn't bare…read moreher anymore. She's just an awful person in every way possible. Cruel, mean, racist (comments like 'you, white people, always have problems like this', 'we're not the same and we will never be), insensitive, unprofessional, rude, and just seems to be miserable. Always late or rescheduling, canceling last minute And then unresponsive. I frankly have no idea how she made it to adulthood being this stupid and awful. No wonder she way fired.

I want to second what Adrian wrote regarding Joanna Fahey. As a former client, she isn't only cold,…read moreshe's cruel. On the anniversary of my son's death, which was the day before my appointment for a medication refill with Tom (who I loved working with and sincerely miss having as a provider), I received a call from the front desk informing me that Tom was no longer with CCM (he did eventually come back) and they couldn't say when I'd be assigned to a new psychiatrist. My therapist was on vacation so, despite previous horrific experiences with her, I emailed Joanna and explained the situation (including the fact that it was the anniversary of my son's death and one medication I cannot stop suddenly or, best case scenario, I'd end up in the ER). Her response was, word for word,"I'm on vacation. Contact your therapist ". I replied that my therapist (third on in five years) was on vacation, in shock that she responded the way she had. Even if you overlook the date my son died, all of the patients Tom saw were being told "Your psychiatrist isn't here anymore and we have no idea when you'll be assigned one". She had a duty, as director, whether she was on vacation or not (since there wasn't someone subbing for her) to not be so dismissive to frightened clients who were panicking, too. I emailed her back and said "I realize you aren't obligated to show any compassion about the death of my son, but I cannot stop taking X medication. What am I supposed to do"? She responded "Go to the ER. I can't help you". When I sent CCM a second complaint in August about another problem with her, which was supposed to be confidential, she (Joanna) called and tried to intimidate me. The woman in charge of complaints obviously told Joanna, which is a shame; she seemed nice. That must be how she's able to maintain her role as director. The only other option is the Executive Staff and Directors just don't care how awful she is. By the time I was sent a letter stating "As agreed upon, you are no longer a client with CCM" - I absolutely did not make that agreement - I was about to be reassigned to my fifth new therapist. Why someone who has a clear disdain for clients and staff chose to become a social worker is beyond me. The rest of the staff were lovely, but there wasn't anything they could do to make up for how miserable and unkind Joanna is and why I can't and won't, in good conscience, recommend CCM.

I contacted Helene for a consult on my divorce mediation. When she called me back, she came across…read moreas rude. I explained I was looking for the consult plus a review attorney, which she said was smart. Like every lawyer I speak with, I asked her about her caseload to determine if she could commit the amount of time I needed for my case. Her reply, "Why would I tell you that, I don't even know you." She can't even have a civil conversation with a prospective client, so that closed the door for me. I thanked her for her time and said I'll contact her if I want to schedule a time. As I also found out, she does not take feedback well. She tried to have my review on Avvo removed. So I'm putting it here. And the review continues to live on that website. The site managers found no problem with the review.

I give the highest recommendation possible for the work she has done for me as well as her demeanor and professionalism. Helene has the unique ability to be paradoxically empathetic and understanding and yet commanding and resolute when needed; I believe these are the personality traits that make for the best of attorneys. What initially drew me to Ms. Bernstein's practice and proved to be true over the years was that she also works as a mediator and looks to resolve contention rather than to win conflicts. In the long run, this proved extremely worthy as well as valiant and likely contributed to her winning my case for me. Our conversations were always about what is just and fair and most importantly, what was in the best interest of my children. Helene is well organized, communicative, thoughtful, open-minded, reliable and is an extremely hard worker. She took great care in my case, with meticulous notes that she always shared with me. Ms. Bernstein prepared myself and the other witnesses properly when we had to testify and always patiently clarified legal procedures for me and advised me well, even when it was not in her own financial best interest. She was also completely upfront and open about both her fees as well as other legal costs that would impact my case. I am so glad that Ms. Bernstein has been my attorney and sincerely give her the highest rating of endorsement possible.
