Do not stay here. Ever. Even for a night. Horrible. Flooded kitchen and room. Old. List goes on.

Halstead Merrimack

Halstead Merrimack

(6 reviews)

I've lived at Halstead Merrimack, managed by Bozzuto Property Management, for some time and cannot…read morerecommend it. Though it looks appealing at first, the day-to-day experience falls short. They advertise "luxury living" but fail on the basics. TL;DR: There are many similarly priced options nearby--look into those before choosing Halstead. Be wary: the leasing office often runs contests for reviews. I suspect many glowing reviews come from prize-seekers, as they need to send a screenshot of the review to management (who is going to submit a negative review to the person in charge of selecting the winner? Also, I've never seen winners announced). Everything below is my honest experience. Inside the Apartment (GRADE: B) *Noise & Insulation: Road noise is noticeable; windows are drafty, and heating costs can be high. Good soundproofing between units. *Finishes: Appliances and fixtures are builder-grade, not luxury. *Hot Water: Takes a long time to reach taps. *Bathroom Heat: No heat source and the fan runs constantly--very cold in winter. Outside the Apartment (GRADE: F) *Landscaping: Poorly maintained; as of May 12th, grass is overgrown--worse than nearby commercial buildings. It's embarrassing. *Cleanliness: Dog poop is a recurring issue. Management should address it. *Noise: Close to a highway and a noisy road frequented by loud vehicles. *Parking: Guest parking is especially limited. Leasing Office (GRADE: D) *Friendly during lease-up, but indifferent once you're in. I'll spare more details--consider this a warning. Maintenance Team (GRADE: A) *Responsive and helpful on the rare occasions I've needed them. Price to Value (GRADE: C) *Premium rent isn't justified by the experience. *Reports of steep rent hikes forcing tenants out. *Extra costs: $150/month per garage spot, $40-$60/month storage, $50/month per pet. Other Considerations *Bozzuto Management: Senior staff are polite but unhelpful in resolving issues. *Tenants: Mostly good people, with a few bad apples. *Construction Concerns: A sprinkler pipe burst and displaced residents for two months (and counting!)--raises red flags. *Community Events: Poorly executed--minimal food and drink. Other complexes do much better. Conclusion Halstead Merrimack looks nice in photos but doesn't deliver. With noise, lackluster units, poor service, and high rent, it's not worth it. I've held up my end--on-time rent--but Halstead has fallen short.

The community has gone thru an ownership change. Now, they seem to let anyone in. When I first…read moremoved in, they dna swabbed the dogs moving in to help avoid people leaving dog poop everywhere. If your poop was found, you were fined. The new owners have clearly changed their policies on dogs, now there are very aggressive dogs, people leaving their dog poop inside the building, in common areas, everywhere. SOME DOGS ARE SO AGGRESSIVE THAT YOU CANNOT RIDE THE ELEVATOR WITH THEM NEARBY. The fire alarms go off all the time. And the air conditions are very faulty to the point the paint started peeling off from excessive moisture. One of the only shining stars in this community is Lori, the sales gal. This place is overpriced and not worth it. The trash bins are often overflowing. The fire alarms go off all the time. The air conditions not only leak, they pour out water. We called maintenence over 7 times and the problem remained. It was not until I video taped the ac unit filling actual buckets that the new maintenance manager had the a professional HVAC company come out. We were informed with all 3 units had broken fans. This was after months and months. When we moved out they offered a cleaning service so we said yes. They never cleaned and said they did. They proceeded to charge us for new carpets and a stove top. The manager actually sent pictures of our apartment and there were zero carpet cleaning marks at all. They never cleaned. They could not prove in any way that the carpets were even attempted to be cleaned, and in fact, all the pictures that they sent showed that the house looked exactly the way we left it. This place had dog poop in the hallways, aggressive dogs and weed smoke in the hallways constantly. Expensive. Dirty and always something broken. The only shining spot here is Lori in sales.

This happened to my building once at 5am. The Piece-of-junk window AC units are incredibly loud (you'll have to turn your tv volume up for sure) and at times so inefficient that they struggle to cool the room to below more than 73 degrees on hot summer days. The doors in the hallways that open up to the rooms are loud as all hell when people slam them shut so if you are in a unit that is on the far end of any of the floors closest to those hallway doors, prepare for that. Within the first year, I was told that I could no longer have a doormat outside of my apartment door as it was a "tripping hazard". I was actually called by Boulder Park while busy at work one day to tell me to remove my mat from the hallway. I thought it was some sort of joke. Whoever the power-obsessed idiot at Boulder Park is who sent down that order should probably move to another state. Live Free or Die? How free can you be if some loser at the top won't even let you keep a damn doormat outside your apartment door?! The heating systems are also complete antiquated garbage. Although thermostats are in the rooms, if you take advantage of using the presets for them, you will soon discover that these electronic presets and fluctuations (even slight) that can be set throughout the week actually confuse the heating systems because of how old they are and they end up basically not working and needing constant visits from maintenance (who are great). I brought to the attention of the property manager several times the presence of both squirrels and bats above my third floor unit which could be head constantly (I now have a keen ear for knowing the difference between which is up there at which times. The squirrels tend to roll acorns around and scratch. The bats in the winter go CRAZY up there, letting out these really loud chirps and squeaks and literally fighting and tussling around up there. So loud I needed to blast the TV volume. The property manager allegedly had pest control install one way bat doors but alas, the infestation (you can tell theres a TON of them) of bats came back again the next winter, making ungodly noise again. When I informed the property mgr, I was eventually told that there was nothing she could do about it. I was given the option of moving to a unit on the lower floor instead, which I guess is better than nothing but still a slap in the face to the residents who all already being overcharged. They tried to reassure me that the critters were simply "on the outside of the roof", which is a common lie that slumlords tell when they're too cheap to take care of expensive pest problems. I've been renting long enough to have heard this tired line before.I honestly feel bad that I never called the city health inspector about this because for those that don't know, guano (bat droppings) are toxic to humans and there is absolutely certain to be a TON of it up there based on all the noise you can hear from them every winter. They charge a non-negotiable 4 month penalty to break a lease with them. That's roughly a $7,600 penalty to break a lease with them. Boulder Park's top brass should be ashamed of themselves for pretending to be human beings while insisting on a penalty that big. While people (especially renters) are already struggling to survive in a post-pandemic world, Boulder Park's lawyers lie in wait to enforce $7,600 lease break penalties. Absolutely disgusting. Consult a lawyer if you need to break a lease with them and avoid their outrageous "set in stone" life-crushing lease break fee. Also, instead of doing a month to month like many apartments are known for, Boulder park does a "60-day" month to month. Just yet another cash grab from a company whose management sees regular working-class people as their footrests. Lastly, I was hit with bogus charges upon move-out after thoroughlycleaning my apartment. I have left the unit in the same condition as previous apartments I have lived at in the past and never been charged such outrageous fees. These appliances were all cleaned to the maximum they could be and are otherwise known as normal-wear that slumlords like those running Boulder Park should not be charging for. Oven cleaning $50 Toilet cleaning $30 Bathroom floor cleaning $20 Bathroom vanity $20 Bath Tub Cleaning $30 They are undoubtedly charge these bogus damage charges to everyone.

Also it's great and all that the snow plowers come quickly however if you go on vacation during the snowy months and your car is still there, you are S.O.L. they will tow it and they don't care even if it is a government vehicle. ( a lot of apartment complex's workout deals with towing companies for extra money, and this complex is definitely one of them). The rent they ask for a 1 bedroom, is about 550 sqft, what you're basically paying for is a very expensive studio, it does not include utilities or internet and water and sewage is also an extra fee, so that $1,600 just jumped to $2,500.00. Also the walls are very thin...so do what you want with that information. Their amenities are laughable, the pool they have is the size of a nice pond and their gym, you have to make a reservation to use it, but given it's small size I think it would be better if they turned it into a kids playroom. If you have a job that makes you relocate, don't rent here. Whatever months you have left, they will ask you to pay for all of them, even if you are not living there and they will not lower the price or make it easy for you. Also if you are out of your mind and still willing to sign their contract, please read through it carefully as they have hidden absurdities within their contract. And if there is an emergency that requires you to move, they do not care. My husband who rented from them, had to leave for an emergency, I, his wife had to have an emergency C section, I was close to death and almost died, only to find out when I awoke, that my child had no cognitive brain function and then perished within my husband's arms. My husband explains to Boulder parks that he can no longer stay in Nashua, NH due to the emergency situation. This complex and its people do not care about a life change emergency, they only care about scamming you and taking your money. My husband had 4 months till the lease was up in June. The complex told him that they would help lower the cost due to our situation only to bill my husband later the exact amount it would cost if he continued to pay the rent till the lease ends. Save yourself money and peace of mind and do not rent here, the people who work there are twisted and toxic. There isn't a whole lot Nashua has to offer to begin with, they have trails and a ton of pubs and that's about it.

I am a senior citizen who so happy that I live in such a wonderful place . And plan on living my life out here . That's how nice it is here. And quite ! I never hear the neighbors ! Well built !! And they'll wake you up with it or keep you up at night or a mix of both any and every day. And that's without counting the paper thin ceilings that will make your neighbor's normal walk to the bathroom your own personal nightmare (and that's even after you talked to them, they were kind to olyou, and you hear them walking more slowly and carefully for you). Finally, if through any of these things you try to find a solution and suggest it to the staff, like moving you to a top floor of one of the buildings they've been loud building while the place was already supposed to be livable, forget it, they'll tell you no because you wrote an honest review about them on Google saying the place has great potential but management doesn't consider your concerns like industrially blowing snow ALL night and asking them to do only very early in the morning especially if it's not a lot of snow. So forget being treated like a human being here. (Make your commute longer if you find a further place, trust me your health will thank you).

I will be factual and unbiased in this review so fellow consumers can be well informed about this…read moreproperty and the surrounding area. Before I begin it is important that this review is from an outside persons perspective, as I am temporary relocated in Nashua, NH for business reasons. I have lived here for two (2) years now, I noticed that the management, unfortunately is inconstant with meeting customer/tenant requests in a timely and welcoming manner...I try to avoid the management office because they make me feel like I am imposing. Now in the Management's defense this may be due to the office being understaffed, I can tell the Management team often seems "stressed out" and cranky. I have lived in two separate units over the two years. My first year I was in a two bedroom on the first floor. To be chief, I warn prospective tenants, do not live anywhere in the building that feels humid or damp.....there will be mold. This made me very upset, as I own a multi-family that I rent to college students, and would never subject a human being, in a first world country to pay to live somewhere there is visible mold growing on sheet rock and near my HVAC inlet to spread mold spores throughout my apartment for me to inhale....unacceptable...not for $1,450 per month for a 2br. On the contrary my new unit ($1,550 3br/mo) does not have this problem, it is spacious with high ceilings and is very clean, (it is also well above ground level). The units are economical looking with vinyl flooring and economical carpet. The appliances are basic, nothing stainless, nothing special. There are washer and dryers located on every floor, of course at a price, to wash and dry a medium load will cost $3.75. I find this reasonable, but I think it's a minor inconvenience to have to haul your laundry down the hallways when most other 'nicer' rental properties have a washer/dryer inside of the unit. Their is a DIVERSITY of income within the building, what I mean by that is quite literal. In short this place works for me right now(I am becoming anxious to relocate), I am not saying this property is Excellent and I am not saying it is Terrible, I would just ask you be careful in considering living here I moved in this building from out of town and felt very mislead in terms of the atmosphere. I listed what I pay to help others compare; This place is expensive for Nashua IMO. I hope this helps, good luck in your pursuit for housing.

Very disorganized/incompetent, or if not, unprofessional management, which I had heard before but thought they had staff changes. If you look for an apartment here, be very careful about what they say is available. 1. We get applications approved which naturally costs money. 2. We were waiting to give notice at our original place until an apt was available. 3. We were told an apartment (or two) would be available a month away. 4. We gave notice at our current apartment. We send a holding deposit. 5. Two weeks later we get an email saying the property manager changed their mind about evicting someone so there are NO apartments available. The application fees are non-refundable which would be understandable if they were acting in good faith. We had plenty of time *before* giving notice to wait for an apartment and would have moved in. I wonder how many application fees the office collect, constantly saying they're leasing and then losing potential tenants because oh, in fact, they aren't. Essentially you can't count on what they say. (According to others, and like many property companies, if they did have an available place they would expect you to move in early to suit them so it seems there's really no way to ever move in here through planning like a sane, responsible person.) We ended up at Boulder Park (who approved and secured an apartment for us in less than 24 hours) and we'll be paying more but at least they might have respectable business practices.
