Not only do they use some archaic system where you get vouchers for 3 days and you have to log in through some forced on top interface. But the reception in the rooms is so bad you need to go into the hall to connect. Then you can surf until you lock your device or it goes to sleep at which point you need to repeat the process. All that aside it is horribly slow! Like 256kb/s slow. Let me put that I to perspective: to watch a YouTube vid of 30 seconds length you need to sit there and buffer for 3 min. Some pages don't load at all and don't even try to use to connections simultaneously. We had to change rooms immediately because the heating stank of burned dust, the shower faucet would spray water everywhere and the bathtub sink was broken. In the second room we got - which was closer to the reception but had no better wifi reception the shower would spray everything in sight due to a lack of curtain or the like. And the floor had ample cigaret burns even though the room was supposed to be a non smoking room. The air conditioning constantly displayed "time to clean filter" but no one heard its call for help. The windows where dirty and the room was so cramped we needed to move the table around to be able to sit and still walk by it.

I spent so much time looking for a place to stay and there are plenty of chalets and apartments in Chamonix but most require a minimum of a 1 week stay. What's great about SnoStation is that they run several properties in the area so they'll provide what's available within your budget and range. I was able to book a 2 bedroom (4 person max) for 4 nights from Sat - Wed for only 630 euros (yes, a bargain!). It was in a great convenient location with bars, supermarket, equipment rental shop and bus stop that are minutes away. The place was really cozy - probably ideal for a family as the bunk bed room was so small and without any windows, but at the end of the day you barely spend time there anyway. It was nice having a full kitchen. What really impressed me was how helpful they are in arranging anything from lessons to lift passes and airport transfers. I'd highly recommend booking through them if this is your first time in Chamonix.
