With the parking garage there's plenty of parking though I cannot stress more than ever do not leave any valuables in sight in your vehicle. Southport may be isolated, but that isn't a deterrent for thieves. Personally I'd recommend parking where there's foot traffic since the upper levels are vacant I've only seen smashed out windows at those levels. And it is a pleasant place! Room-4- Typical Hilton room, a little dated. TV remote didn't work at first, but I called down to the front desk and someone came right up with a new one. (They also provided an extra set of batteries just in case. Well done!). The TV is an older model, not ability for NETFLIX, streaming, etc. The only real issue with the room is the heater/ac. With the outdoor temp being around 25 I had the heater running for a good while, unfortunately it's one of those retrofitted systems that you see a lot where they added a wall thermostat to an existing heater. In other words, once you set the temp it works forever trying to maintain that specific temp by running the heat, then the ac, then the heat, ... My fix was to turn the entire thing off at night, the radiant heat from the neighbors on both sides kept my room perfect without the system running all night. Mattress/pillows-5- Great, four pillows all perfect. Hilton does this right! Elevator speed/availability-4- A little slow, maybe due to age, but it always showed up. Gym/pool-5- The pool is under construction, so it was out of service, the gym is small but has everything that you need to get a good workout in. Cardio, weights, and mats. Restaurant-5- One of the best hamburgers that I have ever had! The staff was super nice and again answered all my "touristy" questions happily. You can eat there at the bar or at a table, service was quick! Staff-5- So far everyone has been very nice; the gentleman that brought up the replacement remote last night was super polite and professional, both the lady and the gentleman at the front desk have been very cordial and helpful. My major complaint is that on my very last day, an hour before checkout, I heard the key card unlock my door and the door was opened. Fortunately I had the bar on my side flipped so the door couldn't open all the way. I looked out the peephole and didn't see anyone so I called the front desk and asked them if housekeeping was on my floor. The employee messaged them and determined it was housekeeping but was not able to offer an explanation why they tried to enter my room with a do not disturb sign on the doorknob, with no knock from them and no announcement of "housekeeping" which would be the normal thing to do and I would have just yelled back "occupied" or "no thanks". Upon checking out an hour later at the front desk I asked to speak to the manager on duty about what had happened and was told that she was it and I could speak to her. Because I booked on Travelocity she said she couldn't discount my bill and instead only removed the $17 of items I had charged to my room. Up until that last incident I would have recommended this hotel to others, but after what happened to me I don't know if I could comfortably stay there again.

It gets better- They told me they'd call the police if I didn't get off the property. So, I had to rush out. I even knocked into the door in the way out. I have no id. So-they kicked me out. I help train police personnel on being kind empathetic. Literally kicked me when I'm down. It's too unbelievable. The callousness. I should have gone to a shelter. Whatever you do, don't think for one second they care. They are "family owned". So much for that. Couldn't send someone to fix air. The woman from the Dakota's didn't believe that the wall unit was broken, it was. Negative 100 stars. The one hour of ire hurt me from this point forward.
