Please excuse my English - my German is insufficient to write this review:
Rent RaceCar gave me one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I rented a coupe racecar from here to drive on Nurburgring and it is something I will never forget.
During our trip in the EU, we drove to Nurburgring to rent a race car from RentRaceCar - and race on the infamous 70+ blind turn race track that stretches beyond 20km.
I rented a 318i racecar, but apparently a renter wrecked it on the track the week before - so I was upgraded to a 120i. I thought that was cool so i could show more skillllzzzz.... Especially since the owner of Rent RaceCar would give me a free instruction lap around the track.
There were 5 of us renting that day - so before getting into my car - the owner gave 5 of us newbies a test run in his personal diesel station wagon he uses for running errands.... (psshh - slow assed diesels). The intent was to "show us the lines" of the track.
I was thinking: - Great! i can pay attention and try and absorb this and be able to hold some more speed on the track.
We all piled into the car and he goes onto the Ring... speeds up on the 1st straight... keeps speeding up, keeps speeding up.... doesn't stop speeding up as we're about to go into the 1st turn (which is a blind turn - so I can't see the exit... like most of the turns on this course).
I was like this (O_O) the whole lap. He'd enter turns, sweep in tight right to the apex - as you hear the tires SCREAMING as we're pulled out wide to the very edge of the track when exiting the turns. 1st turn I thought we'd be flying off the track as we skidded to the outside of the course. (All the while - he's talking to us with 1 hand on his steering wheel about how annoying motorbikes can be because they don't use their mirrors to move aside when being passed - which is required by Ring rules). This continued for all 70+ turns on the track.
(It was kind of like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR5XyHtI9Ew)
When he caught up to the bikes, just as he said - they didn't move aside, so he'd tailgate them through the turns so closely (there was one that we were within 2-3 inches of - I could just about count the friggin treads on the rear tire of the bike and i thought they'd start rubbing off on our bumper). I think the biker was crapping his pants there. haha! We'd eventually pass them all despite the bikers trying to fend the diesel wagon off to try and save some shred of pride.
That guy has serious skills, he passed every sport bike, and many of the Porsches, BMW M's, etc on that track.... in a diesel VW wagon!!!!
Those light fast motorbikes were being blown away by this guy in his station wagon filled w/ 5 dudes!!!
Going out by myself on the track was fun - but clearly not as fast as Mr Rent RaceCar.. hah
I got passed by almost every car out there. BUUUT!!! By my 4th lap, I was able to pass 3 cars ! Yessssss!!!!
(It was a small victory, but a victory none the less!!!) haha - what an experience! read more
