Becoming a self-proclaimed golf aficionado, I am somewhat of a traditional golfer, believing that tee boxes need to be repaired by the golfers themselves. Any golf course that lacks this I can't give it a 5 star rating, but Renfrew gets a strong, VERY STRONG, 4 star rating overall.
I played on a Saturday afternoon, and ended up pairing up with another single golfer, then we were met by 2 more on the 1st tee for a proper foursome. That is never a problem. It was my golf game this particular round that was the problem, but that's not the purpose of my rating.
The maple and oak trees had its leaves turning their traditional autumn colors and it only enhanced the beauty of this course. It is about 1 hour drive west of Kanata, but so worth the drive. (Secretly I'd have driven 3 or 4 hours for this one!) It was a busy day for golf, with the unseasonably warm weather in late September, and ended up being a 5 hour long round. I don't mind, I've had longer rounds.
The putting green is located a stone's throw from the pro shop and clubhouse, and the pro shop is very well stocked with accessories and your necessary equipment. Normally, a course has its first hole as a somewhat easy par 4, but Renfrew is different. BUT, it was easier than most of the other 17 holes I can attest to that. Undulating fairways, and the most wicked green on the back 9 I have ever seen in my life!!! (I 2 putted and was quite ecstatic on that account). Course management most definitely needs to be top notch playing here.
If I decide to play a course more than once during my stay here, it would be Renfrew. A tee box repair kit on each hole would warrant a true 5-star rating read more
