Go for a whopper walk up along the river, go over to the obelisk and imagine what it would have been like to have been hanging out with the Connolys and Johnathan Swifts and the likes, get a bitta wind in your hair, then get yourself over into the Courtyard Cafe in the grounds of the wonderful Castletown House, and get the warmth back in you. Get a nice sambo or hot meal and a lovingly made hot chocolate and cake to finish. You'll walk home with a spring in your step, guaranteed.

I was here recently for a chin-wag with an old friend and we enjoyed our 90 minutes or so in the bright, bustling surroundings. We each had a cappuccino and a scone. The cappuccino was decent. Not too milky - just how like it. The scone was a wee bit dry but good all the same, served with cream and jam -my favourite! The staff were lovely, very friendly having chats with customers (everybody knows everybody so of course they are!) and just being generally smiley, which makes the cafe quite cheerful.

None of this sweet brown bread that a lot of places seem to be serving up with soup these days. We got a table outside where there was plenty of other cyclist parked up for lunch too. They know their market here, as there are a few bike racks provided. With our bellies full and are hearts warmed, we cycled away happy.

I was with a friend and we each had our toddlers with us. 1. As I was taking my tot out of one chair to move her into a seat with a booster (which was not offered to us- we just happened to spot it), the server came over and said, "We all must sit down in the cafe". We were all AT our table! 2. My friend arrived at 11:30a and got the "Deluxe breakfast" on special for €6. The server advised that since it was 11:40, I had to pay the €9 3. When we got our food, we each gave our tots a snack (avocado) and a piece of brown bread that we packed. The server came over and said that she sells avocado and brown bread and this "affects my profits". My friend and I spent a combined €25! When I left, I advised the server (who was also the owner that in my 2.5 years with my tot, I have never been told I could not bring her baby food. She said "mashed" baby food is ok. My tot has never eaten baby mush! She has eaten avocado from her first bite. So she was ok with bringing food so long as its mush? I advised her that I was in the cafe from 11:40-1:00 and only two tables were full and that Caldwells had all 20 tables full with a queue and suggested she revisit her customer service approach

I had a traditional Irish breakfast which was excellent - very flavorful. I loved the black and white pudding! My mother and sister both had the pancakes with eggs.
