We have used a few different piano tuners on our pianos, and have had such miserable luck!
Between people not calling back, acting unprofessionally on the phone (one had an argument with his wife while I was on the phone with him) showing up late etc... just a strange breed of people.
We have never had anyone get either of our pianos really well tuned.
The first piano, well, maybe it was a problem in and of itself.
But the second is a really decent Yamaha.
Always a disappointment, playing right after the tuner leaves.
I am extremely leery of piano tuners who only use their ears.
You don't meet many very young piano tuners and as we age, especially us guys, we lose upper frequency hearing.
Heaven forbid you're a performing musician.
I really don't like someone tuning without a strobe.
Anyhow, we decided to finally try yet another piano tuner, and Kirk Rende called back right away, was less expensive than anyone we've used, and was at least as friendly and outgoing.
When he started tuning, the piano was horrible.
When he was nearly done, and played a bit to check things out, I had to leave my office to listen, because the piano sounded GREAT.
He went way beyond the call of duty, explaining what I might want to do with my piano, what I should look for if I were to get another, and what I can do to combat our seasonal humidity changes.
Tons of information.
Total class act.
Did a great job.
Highly recommended in the Naperville, Plainfield, Joliet region.
I'm so tempted to write reviews of the people we've used previously, or the people who we've called and who have blown us off, but as a small business owner, it's tough enough times without people venturing into payback.
At least here, you're putting your money with good folks.
I know this is a very positive review. No, I do not work for these folks. :) read more
