The water is not good and the laundry can be broken for weeks not repaired. No inspections of units at all in over a year ...we have roaches and bed bugs which is very unhealthy and when they run on your bed and walls at nite its very hard to sleep at all....they rent to people from the streets as well who have addiction issues ongoing .... thats why bedbugs are very bad here and roaches at times due to so many partiers here on and off... but do not complain to management ... when u make the first complaint it falls on deaf ears.... Management has told me to Quote " go fuck myself "when i have asked why pest control is in this building...not very good management at all. They will rent to anyone here... even people with bed bug bites all over their faces.. neck... arms because they just care about money... They also make some people pay $50 deposit for your apt key....some people....im Only still here becuz of financial reasons..bad health...low income ... The rents are so high here in Barrie ontario canada... its way too much! $1000.00 plus per month for a 1bdrm apt .. believe me id be outta this cesspool so fast if i had the money to move or transportation to move... i have a heart condition and do not drive..... Id run and not ever look back....theres drugs all over mary street and downtown few steps from this apt building and police busting people at liquor store almost daily just a few houses down from this apt building .. Drugs and alcohol are still going on in this building.. people yell at the building for people to let them in all night and day! The summers are much worst when they rent out apts to partiers or its not safe to even leave your apt after 6pm in the evening any day of the week due to crime and drugs and you cannot make one simple compaint to management becuz they do not care at all! They just want the money and will rent to anybody to get it! Renters beware!

Ever since DMS property management has taken over this building, it has turned into a nightmare…read more They changed all the shower heads with some low water pressure solution that makes it almost impossible to wash shampoo out of your hair. They replaced the ceiling lights with some low hanging contraption that you'll be lucky if you don't hit your head off every time you walk by it. The water goes off in the building CONSTANTLY! It was down for 5 days in a row a few months back and even made it on the local news. When I tried to get an ETA from DMS property management when the water was off they couldn't care less about communicating and basically just said "when its done". Seriously, expect your water to be off from 9-5 at least once a week. It'll probably be on a Monday morning JUST when you really need that morning shower before work... The way they give "notice" to tenants about things is to post something in the downstairs lobby 24-48 hours before doing it. I had an instance where I did not have a reason to leave my apartment for 3 days. In those 3 days they had posted the notice and towed my car. No phone call or knock at my door to ask me to move it, nothing. I ended up having to eat a $170 towing charge because they were too lazy to slip a notice under my door or to pick up the phone and call me. When they need "reasonable" access to your apartment to do 20 minutes worth of work, they will put a notice in the lobby saying that your apartment will be entered sometime in the next week. They are too lazy to coordinate a specific day with you to do repair work, and even if they do, as i had happen to me, they said they would come in on a Tuesday to do the work but actually came in on Monday when I was not home. When I complained about someone entering my apartment illegally they again just didn't care. The apartment itself is over-priced and you can hear EVERYTHING that the unit above and to your sides are doing. If you do decide to move in I would strongly recommend having some kind of ambient noise device playing in the background or you'll go insane hearing other peoples conversations all day long.

Super is incompetent, the heaters expel black…read moresoot as soon as the heat is turned on in the winter (not to mention that the heat is always set way too high) and it sticks to everything, the water pressure is non existent and last but certainly not least, there is always some sort of construction or renovation going on in this building and let me tell you, every little sound is magnified and it starts bright and early in the morning. The renovated interiors may look nice but trust me, the workmanship is poor and it's clear they just slap them together to get more money from you. There's a reason the rent in this building is cheaper then most in Barrie.

Then when I was on vacation 3 months they sited catnip for dope pinning it on cat-sitter. The bag was clearly marked and we don't touch the stuff! There was jackhammers going off beside my head for 2 months. Rent was never reduced as per discussed, I lost last months rent and 2 deposits due to leaving. To boot they left an unsigned Christmas card under my door. Office did nothing and threatened me! Worst place ever!!! The dope smoker was on the ground floor right beside the office. Liers. Thieves.

Upon leaving my rental unit, for which I paid consistently and on time, I was asked not only to pay for some minor issues with the unit, I was also not allowed a resonable grace period to respond with payment. Melchior sent me a bill and I paid it less than a week after receiving it. Three days after putting the cheque in the mail, I got a letter from a collection agency asking for the payment. After calling Melchior Management, I was informed that they now would have nothing to do with me, and that I was expected to write ANOTHER cheque and send it to the collection agency. They don't care about customer service, and they care even less about good business practices. I would recommend trying to avoid them at all costs, since their property management is only about the bottom line instead of making a tenant's stay somewhat enjoyable. You'll find yourself paying for costs that were not included in the lease throughout your tennancy.
