As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I was excited to spend 12 days at this hotel while traveling on business with a large group of educators. My first impression was excellent. The hotel was beautiful, the front desk staff were welcoming, the bartenders were outstanding, and my room looked great upon arrival. Unfortunately, the experience quickly declined because of the housekeeping service. Every single day there was an issue. The room was never cleaned completely. It seemed as though housekeeping chose only a few tasks each day. My bed might be made, but I wouldn't receive clean towels. If I received clean towels, my bed wasn't made. Dirty towels were often left behind, the sink and counters weren't cleaned, trash wasn't always emptied, and dirty glasses were never removed. After working from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, the last thing I wanted was to spend my evenings calling or visiting the front desk to have my room serviced. Although the front desk staff were always courteous and apologetic, I shouldn't have had to report housekeeping issues every day. It became so frustrating that I bought disposable cups because I couldn't count on having clean ones in my room. To make matters worse, a housekeeper knocked on my door one evening asking if she had left her tea kettle in my room, which reflected the overall lack of professionalism I experienced. I also learned that several colleagues staying at the hotel had the same housekeeping complaints, so my experience was not an isolated incident. This hotel has the potential to be exceptional, but the housekeeping department falls far below the standard I expect from Marriott. I hope management addresses these issues because they significantly impact the guest experience and do not reflect the quality of the Marriott brand. read more

I stayed at the Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel from June 5-19 while participating in the College Board AP Reading. Because I was at the property for nearly two weeks, I had a substantial opportunity to evaluate the guest experience. To begin with the positives, the front desk staff and concierge team were consistently professional, friendly, and helpful. They treated guests with courtesy and did their best to address concerns when they were brought forward. Unfortunately, the housekeeping experience fell significantly below expectations for a Renaissance property. Throughout my stay on the 9th floor, basic room servicing was inconsistent or absent. Trash was not regularly removed. Towels were not consistently refreshed. Drinking glasses remained unchanged. Ice bags and paper coasters were not replenished. The room often appeared untouched despite requests for service. What made the situation particularly frustrating was that these concerns were raised multiple times. I contacted the front desk on several occasions and also stopped by in person. While the front desk staff were responsive and professional, the underlying issues continued throughout much of my stay. This was especially disappointing because many of us were working long days as AP Readers and returning to the hotel exhausted. Guests choose hotels because they expect a clean, safe, and comfortable environment after a demanding workday. Instead, I often found myself cleaning up portions of my own room, managing trash, and seeking replacement items that should have been provided as part of normal housekeeping service. The bathroom cleanliness was particularly concerning. The shower floor appeared inadequately cleaned, and I nearly slipped twice while showering. The bathroom floors also appeared dirty during portions of my stay. Cleanliness is not merely a convenience--it is a guest safety issue. Perhaps most concerning, conversations with colleagues and friends staying at the same hotel revealed that I was not alone in these experiences. Multiple guests associated with AP Reading reported similar housekeeping concerns during the same period. This did not appear to be an isolated incident affecting a single room or a single guest. Additionally, front office staff indicated that the hotel was not experiencing a staffing shortage. As a result, it was difficult to understand why such fundamental housekeeping services were repeatedly missed over an extended period. I recognize that every property can have an occasional service lapse. However, when concerns persist for nearly two weeks, affect multiple guests, and continue after being reported, it raises larger questions about quality control and operational oversight. The kindness of the concierge and front desk teams prevented this review from being lower. They represented the hotel well. Unfortunately, the housekeeping experience did not reflect the standards of cleanliness, consistency, and guest care that I have come to expect from the Marriott and Renaissance brands. read more

Parking was very hard to maneuver over the weekend since US tower building was closed so forcing to use valet ($41/đây for most. $21/day parking if you want to use fountain garage entrance. The hotel itself is in a renovated older building where you can still see some of the luxurious touches from the past- like the gold toned ornate elevator doors on the main floor. Stayed here two weeks ago with my husband. We left very early in the morning and realized on our way home that we had left his suit and shoes in the hotel closet. Since it was still well before the required checkout time, we called the hotel to see if they could grab the items out of the closet and we would pick them up the next time we were in town. The man we spoke to said they wouldn't do that for us, but we could call lost and found later in the week to see if housekeeping found the items. It took us two weeks to get in touch with lost and found (whenever the hotel would connect us to that line, no one picked up). Once they finally got back to us, they informed us the suit and shoes never showed up. I'm upset because these were expensive items and I just don't understand why the hotel couldn't grab the items for us since we called the same day we left and it was before checkout time. The Renaissance is our home away from home! We live about an hour away from Cincinnati, so we come down and stay for a weekend probably once a quarter. Check-in is always easy and personable. I never leave reviews--but this stay made me feel like I had to. Let me start with the positives. The Renaissance is located downtown, which made it super convenient to walk to restaurants, shops, and most attractions. The building itself is beautiful--elegant and historic. The front desk staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. Now for the not-so-great parts. We were shocked to learn we were required to pay $48 for parking--a charge that was not clearly listed in the booking process. If you don't opt for valet, your only alternative is public parking two blocks away, where you're still paying $22 a day and hauling your luggage on foot. Not the welcome we were expecting. Speaking of welcomes, the first person we encountered was someone who appeared to be dressed from the kitchen staff, standing outside the main entrance smoking a cigarette. Not only was this off-putting, but he made no effort to acknowledge us or offer assistance. When we reached our room on the 14th floor, we were hopeful for a great view. Instead, we were met with a direct view into an alley and another building just feet away--completely obstructing any possible view. Inside the room, things felt unfinished. The lighting was dull, and nearly every bulb was mismatched. As someone with a bit of OCD, this detail was distracting and frustrating. The bathroom lighting was especially poor, making it difficult to get ready. Plus, the sliding bathroom doors offered zero privacy--not ideal if you're sharing the room with someone. The shower looked gorgeous, with marble finishes, but had no slip protection whatsoever. It honestly felt like stepping onto an ice rink after each shower. Also, there was no hand soap, only body wash in the shower--something I've never experienced in a hotel at this price point. Finally, when I tried to unwind and check my phone, I realized I had no cell service in the room due to the surrounding buildings. I attempted to use the hotel's Wi-Fi, only to discover they charge $15 for access. That was the last straw for me. All in all, the hotel has potential--but for the price, I expected better transparency, more attention to detail, and basic comforts like soap and Wi-Fi. I'm not someone who complains easily, but this experience left me more frustrated than relaxed. read more

Renaissance is a beautiful downtown massive skyscraper Marriott owned hotel in Cincinnati Ohio. Located just a few blocks from popular attractions such as the home stadiums of the cities professional baseball and football stadiums. This former bank which gave out chocolate coins for my 4 kiddos is really stunning and beautiful. You can valet park for $40 bucks are round the corner and park in the Westin parking garage for $17 a night. We set parked but I noticed Valet takes the car down the street to an uncovered private lot. Watching the valets sprint up a large hill from the lot to the hotel made me tired. Me and my family was in town for a Billy Joel concert at great American ballpark. We travel quite a bit and use Marriott a lot so we are gold elite members. Because of this the hotel offered us free bottled waters from the marketplace anytime we wanted and a complimentary breakfast in the morning. So it's always nice to be rewarded for being a loyal member. Our room was on the 15th floor and had really pretty views of the city and the Ohio river. We got the two Queen suite and our room was very lovely and updated. Very unique and hip art and comfortable beds with an air condition that was working greatly. We had a very comfy stay in our room. The hotel was perfect for our concert. We could walk to great American ball park in about 5 min and the football stadium probably would of taken Lee's then ten minutes to walk too. So this is a perfect spot for people attending games or events at either stadium. The complimentary breakfast was great. Fresh cooked eggs and bacon with you other usual selections in cereal, juices and muffins. The establishment did have a swanky upscale on site restaurant called J burnhams. We dined there the night of the concert and it was pretty tasty. Overall we had a great visit here. Worked perfect for what we needed. Close proximity, comfy and big rooms and great service. This is my 3rd stay here in the last month and I have to say that I have been very disappointed with all stays. They were for a work trip and I've stayed here for a full week and sometimes for a few nights. The first time I checked in, it was around 11pm. The staff did not seem like they wanted to be there. They weren't very friendly. When I got to my room, I heard water dripping. I checked the bathrooms and couldn't find the source. Then I checked the closet. The ceiling tile was leaking and water was hitting the safety lock box. They did change me to another room. During my 2nd and third stays, there were several issues with the room. The mini fridge is really small and poor and keeping your food cool. One fridge's door didn't even close all the way. Another time, I was placed in a handicap room and the shower chair kept falling off its hinge and hitting me while I was showering. It was too annoying to repack and find another room, so I just suffered through my stays. Food at the restaurant downstairs is mediocre at best. I've never had a satisfying meal there. I've ordered room service several times and every single time they only provide one napkin. ONE! I need more than that! I would not recommend staying here. read more

We stayed in room 1121, instanly started sneezing and had a itchy throat. The amount of dust and dirtiness is to another level especially where the towels were placed!! I had to wipe down the vent. And if you dont want to throw up, dont look at the dust behind the bed! See pics The lighting is the bathroom is so low for make up, i had to drag in both accent lamps to the bathroom, lighting was still low and very yellow. There was 1 tiny trash can for the entire room. The toliet tissue holder was behind and far from the toliet, so you have to turn around and it's very uncomfortable. For some context, I live in NYC and travel quite a bit for work, including to Cincinnati where my organization is based. I almost exclusively stay at Marriott properties. I have stayed in several different Marriott hotels in Downtown Cincinnati (The Courtyard, The Westin, AC Hotels in the Banks, etc.) and this was my second stay at this Renaissance. To be frank, my first stay at this Renaissance (which was back in July 2022) was NOT my favorite stay and my stay earlier last week was downright subpar. My colleagues and I all stayed at the hotel for a work retreat and we all had several issues with our stays. Here's a snippet of what I experienced during my stay: - My check-in experience felt impersonal and rushed. The receptionist who helped me didn't acknowledge my status and loyalty to Marriott (I'm Titanium Elite with standard in every hotel i've stayed in); barely acknowledged me, in general; and initially placed me in a room that was facing other rooms until I explicitly asked for a different room and one preferably with a view (which, to be fair, he did oblige and changed my room). I also had to ask specific questions about information that should have automatically been provided to me upon check-in. Overall, the receptionist just did not seem interested in me as a guest and i've had better check-in experiences at a Courtyard Inn (lower category hotel). - When I got to my room, the windows were entirely covered in what looked like browning, peeling plastic and the bathroom did not look particularly clean, including what looked like some sort of dried crust on the counter (see photos). I did not feel comfortable staying in that room so I went back down to the front desk to request a different one. I will say that the receptionist was helpful in finding me a different room. - However, the second room I moved in to also had several issues, and it also didn't seem particularly clean, but seemed a little cleaner than the previous room so I didn't bother trying to change rooms again or reporting it because I was already pretty tired and had to work. Some of the issues in this room were something that looked like sticky liquid streaks down the back of the door, one of the mirror lights in the bathroom didn't work, the toilet seat was very loose (as was the toilet handle), there were noticeable stains on the carpet, and there was only one towel and one hand towel in the room and no shower floor mat provided (so I had to use a hand towel to make sure the floor didn't get wet; I only discovered this when I was right about to shower). - The hotel's R-Club lounge had no beverages or snacks throughout the day. This was particularly strange for me since I have never stayed in any Marriott hotel that had a lounge that didn't have basic soft drinks, juices, and/or light snacks. As a frequent business traveler, having this as a simple amenity makes a big difference when I have to work late or don't have time for meals. The lounge DID serve breakfast, but being able to grab a piece of fruit or a soft drink in between those times is a minor thing that can make a big difference for travelers. - I ordered room service one night and although the food was fine, and was delivered promptly, the person who delivered it was a bit unpleasant; not friendly at all. - Lastly, upon check-out I received an e-mail from a Front Office Ambassador for this hotel asking for feedback on how to ensure they can provide a "10-star experience"; several other folks (I assume also staff of the hotel) were copied on the e-mail; I took the time to share some feedback with the front office ambassador and the other folks who were copied, in the hopes of genuinely helping the hotel address some of the issues that I and my colleagues experienced . . . I heard nothing back from the hotel at all; not even an acknowledgement of receipt (and it's been well over a week). Crickets. To summarize, I don't think this hotel lives up to the service, cleanliness, or amenities standards of most Marriott properties and definitely doesn't live up to the Renaissance name. And clearly, even if you share feedback, they're clearly not interested in actually providing a good hotel experience for guests. Trust me . . . stay elsewhere. read more

I checked into the Renaissance Hotel because I was attending a conference and while I was checking in there was some system outages however they kept my bags and gave me a time to come back and check if I can checkin. The staff was very friendly and I did lose my wallet and Ms Leslie Brown Jackson was there to help me, she was so kind and patient and even helping me grab my suitcase again and go through it. I truly appreciate her customer service. The overall stay was pretty great. My room was clean. There could be some minor upgrades, but overall my room was clean and was perfect. I was also happy that the carpet was not dirty that and the room was very spacious. I appreciate the emails that were sent was just shows that the staff cares about how the stay is going for visitors and I appreciate the kindness for offering water and also the valet staff helping me put my bags in my Uber overall, I would definitely choose to stay here again. Used the Marriott Bonvoy App, got a confirmation for a changed check in time, the hotel never confirmed it and held to the 4pm checkin resulting in me not getting a street view king bed room but a double Queen alley/fire escape view! Ruined my entire trip and the Marriott complaint form online doesn't fill in the hotel name so you can't even complain. Hosts have no sympathy or empathy and process you like cattle - rude! I don't like to give bad reviews but I am so disappointed with my experience here. I checked in and found what looked like a bed that was slept in. I called the hotel, let them know the situation and asked if I could change rooms. I don't know if it was slept in or if they just forgot to finish making the bed. The staff in the lobby were wonderful and gave me another room. I paid $305 for the room + $45 valet parking because the hotel doesn't have a parking garage. If you're going to be spending that kind of money anyway, I would highly recommend the Westin, which is just around the corner. And the self parking garage is about $22 for the whole day and it connects to the hotel. read more

Very impressed with the level of professionalism shown by The front desk and all the staff. We were offered free bottles of water Upon arrival. Whenever we ordered room service there were more free bottles of water and one time they messed up the order and they gave it to us for free. The room service food was exceptional, especially for nowadays after Covid. The little bar that they have downstairs is rather delightful, and the food, drinks, and service they provided are on par with the rest of the hotel. i'm sorry for the grammatical mistakes. I'm a busy guy and I use voice dictation for pretty much everything. I'd recommend staying here. read more

We were in town to meet up with my cousin and her family. They had invited us to stay with them for free at their Airbnb, but...that included 7 children. So we opted to spring for a hotel room. It was kind of last minute so we knew it might be a bit pricy or we may have very few options. My guy gets some discounts for working for the state, so we confined our search to those hotels, and I made the choice based on where in town I preferred to stay. We weighed locations and google and yelp reviews and settled on the Renaissance Cincinnati. When we checked in, I was a little nervous it would be a non-restful night. The lobby was absolutely BUSTLING at 10:30pm, tons of people. And it is situated in downtown so there were people from the street in and out and people going to the restaurant and bar...it looked like a big wedding group of attendees was there too. So again...I anticipated a louder than hoped for night. In the mean time, I admired the building, the cool old deco touches of the older building incorporated in to the new hotel. The kitchen at the bar/restaurant was still open for a short amount of time, so we threw our things in the room and hustled down to the bar to get our to-go order in ASAP. He each had a beverage while we waited and then brought our food up to the room to eat in bed because you can do that at a hotel! (I mean...you can do it at home too, but then YOU are responsible for crumbs in the sheets AND the cleaning up of it...) I gotta say, I was pleased beyond expectation with the noise level. I expected it to be loud and for me to struggle to sleep (a normal hotel experience for me). BUT....surprisingly quiet rooms! Perhaps these old downtown buildings have bonkers thick floors and ceilings between the levels....and perhaps a hotel finally decided to also put thicker walls in between rooms and hallways. I don't know, and I don't care. It was so beautifully quiet. Downtown overnight parking is not cheap, but you can save some money and DIY that instead of doing valet through the hotel...but both are options for a price. I stayed here on a recent business trip for the first time. The lobby is impressive and gives off old Hollywood Glamour vibes. The front desk staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice. Sleek looking and fairly new. The King bed was super comfortable, as were the pillows. Everything seemed clean. I had drinks at the bar and they wee good, but the bartender was literally out of every brand I asked about. I ordered room service in the morning and the food was good and the server was nice. It came when I'd requested it. I was not able to visit the gym, so no comments there this time. The valet staff were nice, but SLOW. Really slow. Stayed here a few nights while visiting Cincy and had a great stay. During COVID they were following all precautions, require masks and only offer housekeeping if you request it. This was one of the Most comfortable beds ever! Large king sized bed, was plush and comfy. After walking around all day I floated off to sleep in this pillowy bed. The lobby is gorgeous. A mix of modern and historic. A lot of gold trim around the elevators and moldings. Some modern furniture and lighting worked really well, to create a unique, upscale look. Location is good. Was able to walk around the downtown area with no issues. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area, including Graters for some of the best ice cream ever! Staff was super nice! We were looking for a hotel in the Cincinnati downtown area as we were attending the Cincinnati Music Fest. A variety of hotels were booked however this was one of the locations that had a few room still available. It was a good selection. It was close to the Paul Brown Stadium, and it was also close to restaurants and some of the other festivities located in the downtown area. Very convenient. There was convenient valet parking as you pulled up. No fee except for a tip of course. On arriving we were greeted at the front desk fairly quickly. This was great as there were a lot of people in town for the Music Festival. We are registered quickly and giving a room located on the 14th floor. The place was pretty upbeat and there was a restaurant and nice seating areas in the lobby. It was clean, modern, and updated. The room was nice. It had a nice upscale and modern amenities which included the bedroom and the bathroom. The only downside was The View. When you looked out the window it was another building that you were looking at. The hotel offer free Wi-Fi, cable , coffee pot and even an ironing board. Overall, it was a great experience and I would certainly recommend it if you're staying in the Cincinnati area. read more

They also Lie. If you ask for a manager they will lie about who the manager is and there availability. Don't believe them if they say your room will be ready. Came during Oktoberfest '22 (9/15-9/18) with my wife and child during our anniversary. Beautiful lobby, nice customer service, and polite valet members. However, there are some concerns.. I'll start with the good.. I enjoy the ease and convenience of Bonvoy's mobile app. I was able to use my phone as a room key and place service requests through there. Everyone was polite, even though they did not set up the room with the requests I asked for, they were fairly quick to accommodate. Location-wise, there's a lot around, nice restaurants and minutes away from the festival that weekend. Also, the attached restaurant was actually pretty good, would recommend for food but not for cocktails. Now, the bad.. Cleanliness: From the mattress to the sheets, I had to use my imagination as to why there were stains everywhere. The pillowcases appeared to have old lipstick smeared in them. The mattress had a relatively large spill stain on the side, and the comforter had several brown spots. This was particularly unfortunate because the mattress was top-notch comfortable. The worst of this was the dust that was EVERYWHERE, I think they only wipe the table when housekeeping, but with the amount of build up this couldn't have been touched in at least a couple of months Bathroom: I love marble floors, and there's didn't disappoint. The shower floor, however, which was also marble is a safety hazard when wet (which is always in the shower). The water pressure was fairly weak, which is disappointing as an acclaimed hotel. And the change in water temperature is woefully slow Elevator: The elevators are extremely small, there's no way around it. 4-5 person maximum, and hopefully those people know each other. Although there are 5 in service, with 19 floors and a small capacity, the wait time for the elevators were pretty lengthy Valet: I know, I just called them polite earlier. And they were! However, one of the nights they'd misplaced my keys, it's a little nerve-wrecking when the valet person comes to find you to ask if you still have your keys (after handing it to another crew member). On the day of our checkout, it took about 15 minutes to retrieve our car (we were part of the lucky group) another family was informed that the valet had no idea where they placed the car. Great hotel located in downtown Cincinnati. The staff at the front desk were very helpful in giving us recommendations on where to go. The valets were also very nice. The elevators / lobby is also pretty cool with the Art Deco metal work. Rooms are updated like a normal Marriott. read more

I specifically asked to be charged on a different card and asked if this was possible days before check out. These bafoons closed my original reservation then when I when I checked out they were trying to charge me for days I never booked. They fixed that and said I was all good to go that the charges had been changed. I checked my business checking today and I was over drafted 152 dollars and they charged me the full amount of 1775 on the card I specifically asked them not to charge!! They did however charge my credit card 200 dollars that didnt exist and an amount I should not have been charged. Watch out the staff obviously has no freaking clue in what they are doing and will screw up the simplest tasks I promise you. read more

Nice, Spacious Rooms, Right in the Heart of Downtown. Let me start off with what happened when I arrived at the hotel. I had booked a four-night stay, starting on Sunday. I was unable to make it and arrived on Tuesday. However, I called on Sunday asking if I could go ahead and check-in, pay for the room, and secure my stay. I was told that wouldn't be possible or necessary and to just show up on Tuesday. So I did and when I arrived to check in, I was told there were no rooms available. That put me in a little bit of a panic, so I explained the circumstances leading up to check-in. Big kudos to the front-desk associate and her manager, as they were able to find a room and fix the situation. Top scores for customer service and being able to find a quick solution. Upon entering the room, the first thing I noticed was how spacious it was for a room with a king-size bed. Perhaps they upgraded me, seeing there was a SNAFU at check-in. There was a lot of room to spread out, relax, and enjoy the natural light. The bathroom was very large too and the only quirk was how close the toilet was to the wall--it's almost like it was trying to hide from people. You kind of have to sit diagonal, so your shoulders aren't hitting the wall. Not a big deal at all, but kind of weird seeing there is sooooo much room in the bathroom. I came here for a business trip and found the property to have good food during the conference, friendly staff, and nice amenities. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling for business or pleasure, while in Cincinnati. read more

Wonderful hotel for a snow storm! Very cozy and inviting entrance/bar area. Fire place, nice wine selection and comfortable seating. Our room was spacious, clean and had an awesome view of the river. Delicious free breakfast. Lovely dining room with fireplace and free morning papers!!! Plus, complimentary hot coffee all day. Staff was helpful and inviting. Outstanding valet service. read more

You guys were awesome. Seriously. Our crew was on the loud side of things and you handled it with grace and tremendous service. It goes without saying that you won me over with your beautiful tea service, friendly smiles, sexy and historic interior and madly-delicious charcuterie boards. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I'll be baacccckkk." Before you read on, know that I didn't rest my head on the most-likely fluffy and inviting pillows at the Renaissance but I did set up camp in their downstairs bar for a good 4 hours of coworking and tea parties. Which reminds me, they have outlets built in to the hightop bar tables (genius) and great wifi. Plus, who can fight off the lure of natural light flooding in to the room via the floor to ceiling windows facing onto the street? **be sure to check out the sexy and modern bathrooms with motion-detected mirrors.
