I had a really disappointing experience with Alchemy Tattoo, specifically with an artist named…read moreJulian. I originally reached out after finding Julian's work on Instagram and scheduled a free consultation. During that consult, I clearly explained the tattoo concept I wanted. He told me it was doable, so based on that assurance, I paid a $100 non-refundable deposit to move forward. From there, communication was rough. Scheduling the actual session took a long time and required multiple follow-ups. There was also no design review, mockup, or finalized concept shared beforehand--I was told the design would be done once I arrived at the studio. When I showed up for my appointment (about two months later), things immediately went sideways. The sketch he showed me was completely different from what we had discussed. When I expressed concern (because this is something going permanently on my body), he started scrambling to redesign it on the spot. After over an hour of sketching, he then told me that my original idea wasn't really possible and would "look bad"--which directly contradicted what he told me during the initial consult, before taking my deposit. At that point, I felt uncomfortable moving forward and decided to leave to think it over. A few days later, I reached out explaining that since the tattoo concept I was promised wasn't actually feasible, I'd like my deposit refunded. Since then, Julian has gone completely silent. No response. No explanation. Nothing--despite multiple follow-ups. This feels incredibly unprofessional and, frankly, shady. Clear communication upfront would have avoided all of this. I would not recommend Julian or Alchemy Tattoo in Nashville based on my experience.

Everything was perfect from the moment I walked in. The ladies at the front desk are so welcoming and nice! She showed me different versions of my tattoo design. She was very to the T with everything and I really appreciated that. Before we even started she let me know that I was over quoted in the emails & the price came down a few hundred. Marianna is definitely trustworthy and does amazing work. I got my son's foot print along with his birth month flowers and she made that tattoo come to life the exact way I envisioned it. I am in love with my tattoo! Kristen Kooster was the artist whose line work caught my eye, and without a doubt her precision and meticulousness made the tattooing process so wonderful. If you haven't gotten a tattoo before, you will first be asked to schedule a consult prior to then getting an appointment for the main body of work. The scheduling was seamless, all digitized through text and email which made integrating into Google Calendar a breeze. There is endless art and intrigue on all the walls here, and I enjoyed taking some time appreciating it while in the waiting area. It was lovely to see how supportive everyone was of each other in the suites. Love seeing solidarity and friendship amongst women doing amazing work! As a woman of color in the South, I felt safe and cared for here. They also have a bevy of snacks and a gravel lot for guests. Super seamless process, start to finish. Highly recommend, especially if you wanna first dip your toe into tattoos with a flash tattoo! All the artists here do fantastic work. It really is wearable art for your skin gallery.

After 45 minutes, I had to leave. I had already arrived an hour later than expected and I had places to be. When I told the receptionist, I was asked if I would like to reschedule. No thanks. Maybe if there had been ANY communication, but no. I asked for a refund of my deposit and was laughed at. I understand the point of the deposit, but considering I paid to waste a couple of hours of my life, I thought they might have a bit of empathy. Will not be going back. I'll stick to my usual artist, even thought it's a much longer drive.
