It is clear, from the moment you check in, to the moment you check out, your stay will be great. Every single person on staff is friendly, helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is very nice, the hotel is always clean, and the location is convenient to grocery, gas and pharmacy. It is locally owned and guests are treated like friends and family by EVERYONE. This was my 3rd extended stay (3 months) with Comfort Inn Blackshear and I will definitely be back. Thanks Peggy, Peter, Rose, Kim, Beth and all the staff, so much for such a comfortable stay!!! It is obvious why this hotel is rated as the BEST of the chain, year after year!!!

I rode up with him last weekend and we went by to ask about dinner on the way to the camp. The young man who greeted us was so friendly and explained they had several weddings going on but would put us down for our requested time a few hours later. Hubby was just checking a few things at the camp and we were heading back to Jacksonville. The menu boast locally sourced food but what we found out is the seafood items are farm raised not local or wild caught so that ruled those out. We started with the jalapeño poppers and they were ok but not made in house. We asked for bread and they were out of that but offered complimentary hush puppies instead. That's not really the same but thanks for trying. Hush puppies were a bit greasy. We had a few adult beverages and they were not near as cold as they should have been. Hubby had the steak with sides and thought the steak was pretty chewy. He also had a baked potato, broccoli and salad. I ended up having a side salad and baked potato only. Salad was OK but dressing was not good. Again not made in house. The baked potato was over cooked. The service, however, was really good. Tina and Emily were so nice and were working hard, as a team to take care of us. The people there were all so friendly. I love the concept but the execution needs a bit of help. If you tout locally sourced, that means local for all things. They do have cute cabin rentals on site and I can see people loving this place.

We stayed in Cabin #1 (of 6), which had one bedroom down stairs with a queen bed, a sleeper sofa in the living room, and a loft with a queen and a twin bed. They supplied us with 6 fluffy towels. The kitchen was stocked with spices, s/p, bottled waters, coffee, creamers, and sugar. The beds were comfortable. The front porch had two rockers, and a picnic table and benches were right outside the back door. At night the lighted trees were beautiful. This is a fantastic property with friendly owners. Their hospitality is amazing.

The boardwalk straight to the beach is amazing, and it's a super pet-friendly hotel and beach, which makes it perfect for walks any time of day. The hotel is almost always quiet, the large hot tub is a great bonus, and I love that they offer patio and balcony rooms. They also have a bar and food options on site, which is really convenient, plus a shuttle that takes you into town for restaurants and shopping. I always look forward to staying here when I'm on Jekyll Island!

We arrived at the Ritz too late for dinner anywhere but the lobby bar. Enjoyed several sushi rolls with drinks, each one imaginative fresh and tasty. But some event had recently let out and the lobby bar got crowded and LOUD. I mean over 100db loud (measured). That's the equivalent of enjoying sushi while jackhammers are crushing concrete all around you. Whoa! Ocean front one bedroom suite - Plush, large, comfortable. Curtains blocked most light, but the bright morning sun still peeked in around the edges. Comfortable bed and plenty cold for good sleeping. Two huge TVs. While the only premium feed provided is Netflix, the cable box had been lowered behind the TV in the living room such that it was simple to plug in your own device. If this is by design, kudos to the Ritz. If this was accidental, we feel very fortunate. Awesome to have a second half bath, wish that was an option at more hotels. The main bath, very roomy, with a huge dressing area, was a little odd in that, while there was a door to the toilet, there was no door to the tub/shower. Not a big deal, as it was around a corner providing a little privacy, it's still a weak design decision. Huge balcony with ocean front views that go on forever. A few chairs and a table, but a bit under furnished. Still quite a treat for the view, breeze and privacy. Never even slightly tempted to leave the property during our stay. Over a 4 night stay, we visited nearly every bar and restaurant option, and never felt like we were having to "make do". Pool - the kiddie pool was closed for renovations, so children took over the main pool all day. If you're not a tolerant direct parent, you're not gonna get in that water, if you know what I mean. Overall the pool and chairs were pretty crowded, so almost worth the premium to have rented a cabana for 8-2 one day. Lots more room and comfort, both lounge chairs and couch seating, TV, snacks and drinks.

The second person we talked to was very friendly and apologetic. They said they would comp us for the trouble by reducing the daily charge but I never saw this on my bill. This was disappointing. I was surprised they said they would do that so maybe they tried but weren't allowed. Who knows! The rooms were fine - nothing fancy and a bit outdated. Everything was very clean tho. And the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the nice coffee station and fire table on our patio. The restaurants they have are pretty good. We really enjoyed getting room service - much easier with our pup. We stopped by the gym to fill up our water bottles and they have a great water station and fruit bowls. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely and friendly. They were happy to give us tips about the area and recommendations too. The location is unbeatable- right on the beach. Any hotel in the surrounding area is worth it over this place. The rooms are sub par and like others mentioned, breakfast is probably better at McDonald's. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere.
